Minutes turned to hours, and hours turned to days. Days turned to weeks, but Nicholas didn't return to the club.
Mia still felt guilty about what happened. She wanted to talk to Nicholas, but she didn't know where he lived.
Three months later, Mia wasn't just shocked that his marriage to Sabrina Hale was being broadcasted. She was broken. She never imagined that her feelings for Nicholas would be that deep.
"Lia, open up! It's me." Ady knocked at her door.
She didn't want to see anyone, even Ady, but her friend wouldn't stop knocking.
"Ady, I'm fine." She whispered.
"You're not. Look at your face! You're a mess." Ady argued upon entering her room.
She didn't answer because Ady was right. She was not okay. In fact, she wanted to see the wedding for herself.
"Lia, where the hell are you? And why is the light turned off?"
Ady stepped inside her bedroom after forcing herself in. She didn't see Mia on the bed so she looked for her in the bathroom.
And there she was, sitting on the floor hugging her legs as her face buried on her knees.
"Are you going to make yourself miserable because of a man who doesn't even know that you love him?" Ady crossed her arms to her chest, leaning on the bathroom door.
"You said to keep it to myself." She mumbled.
Ady hissed. "Because nothing will happen if you tell him. Do you expect him to love you back? My God, Lia! He's the richest man in the country."
"What should I do with these feelings? It feels like my heart is being torn into pieces." She sobbed.
Ady sighed, pitying her friend was the last thing she had in mind.
"Do you want to attend the wedding? For some reason, you're invited. Here."
Ady handed her an invitation. She was also confused. Why was she invited? Who sent the scented small envelope?
"Come on and let's see the bride's look when they see you." Ady smirked.
Mia was hesitant at first, but whoever sent the invitation had a motive. Maybe they wanted her to attend, and humiliate herself.
Her face turned red. The fire inside her heart had flamed again. She won't allow anyone to trample on her.
"It says two in the invitation. Will you come with me, Ady?"
"I thought you wouldn't ask." Ady smiled.
They went to Ady's room to check on the dresses. Jean was there to help her prepare.
"Where do you get all these dresses?" She asked, eyes widened in surprise.
She couldn't believe that Ady had a huge collection of dresses.
"Her client, Mr.Thatcher, gave her all that. From clothes, to bags, shoes and jewelry. The man is so generous." Jean commented.
"It's his way to thank me for chatting with him." Ady whispered.
"Maybe he likes you." She said.
Jean laughed. "The guy is married and head over heels in love with his wife even though he knew she was cheating on him. He became a client because of that woman."
"He wants company because he's lonely. We're friends, that's all." Ady smiled.
She didn't ask further and just looked for a dress to wear.
"How about this?"
Jean was holding a red mermaid cut floor length gown. The sleeves were long, the skirt had slits on each side, and an open back.
"That! Wear that!" Ady exclaimed.
"But it's red. I should wear nude colors. I will stand out if I wear red." She disagreed.
"Exactly! That's the reason you're going to attend that wedding. For you to stand out. They gave you an invitation, make them regret it!"
She was curious about the person who sent the invitation. She wondered if it's Nicholas, or Sabrina Hale.
Jean and Ady helped her again. They put on a little heavy makeup to make her look seductive and fierce. Her hair was curled and tied into a flower-like style with some pearls and glitters as an accessory.
She looked at herself in the full sized mirror, and was surprised to see her reflection. She looked sexy and mature yet classy and sophisticated. The dress had an open back so she just had to put on a nipple tape, but her breasts still looked firm even without a bra.
Her friends glanced at each other.
"I think Nicholas will regret marrying that old hag." Jean giggled.
She waited for Ady to finish preparing then they rented a car and a driver to go to the hotel.
"They picked the Royal Hotel. I bet it's her choice."
"What do you mean?" She asked, curiosity piqued.
Ady closed the partition window to get some privacy.
"I looked into Nicholas' brother. Sabrina and him were childhood friends. They were interviewed three years ago, and they confessed their feelings. Sabrina's dream was to get married in the Royal Hotel. Everything was already planned, but the guy got sick and died."
"I don't think there's something wrong in your story." Mia let out a sigh.
Ady chuckled. "You don't understand. He just got sick. The guy is too healthy, but the next day he was diagnosed with something. What if someone did something for him to get sick? What if someone killed him?"
Her eyes widened. "Ady, you can't just tell that to anyone. Besides, they're super rich. They definitely did everything they could to save his life. He's the heir, right?" She whispered.
"I know. But what if it's someone from his family. Come on, Lia. It's very unusual to get sick all of a sudden. As you said, they're rich and they have doctors to check on their health regularly. Why didn't they find out about his illness sooner?"
Mia couldn't understand what happened with Nathaniel Hudson, but if what they were thinking was right, then it was a conspiracy.
"We can't just tell anyone about it. If someone did something to Nathaniel Hudson to get sick, it might be someone from his family." She commented.
"I know and it's just a suspicion. I'm telling you because I got curious. I don't really care about them, but you're starting to get involved with them. So I think it's better for you to know."
