Chapter 16

After dressing, they lay beside one another.

Dominique said, "You know, you remind me of my sister.

"She was just like you."

Alayna asked, "Aww, where's she now?"

He responded, "We lost her to suicide."

She noticed the sadness in his eyes as she stared at him.

She said, "I'm so sorry-

"You guys must have been close."

He said, "Yeah, she was the only woman I loved besides my mother.

"I miss her a lot.

"If she had still been alive, she would've loved you."

Alayna said, "I know how it feels.

"My parents died in a car crash when I was 14.

"None of my aunts or uncles wanted us, so I quit school to care for my sisters."

He said, "That's tough.

"I'm sorry.

"You're strong.

"Many females can't do what you did."

She said yeah, "I had to be to protect them."

He responded, "Can I ask you about something I heard earlier when you were talking to your sister?"

She asked, "You heard that?

"Oh, my God."

As she tried to get out of bed, he grabbed her hand and said, "Alayna, it's okay.

"I'm sorry that happened to you."

She said, "He was going to attack them, and all I could've done was-"

Dominique held her face and said, "I understand.

"You don't have to explain to me.

"I wish I had known you back then.

"I would've never let anyone harm you."

She kissed him and said, "It's not too late to do that."

He said, "I know."

She smiled as she got up and said, "I'll see you later.

"Let me get some rest."

He smiled as she exited the room.

She sat on her bed after entering her room.

She said, "Oh well, I'm pregnant, and that's important since I'm about to be a mother.

"At least I'll have enough money to be happy!

"Even though for some reason I feel completely lonely."

She let out a sigh and lay, gazing at the ceiling until she nodded out.

The following morning she cooked breakfast for everyone after getting out of bed.

Darla and Kathy came to the island to have breakfast together.

Kathy said to her, "So you're going with him?"

Alayna responded, " Yes, take care of Darla, and don't break anything!"

Kathy said, "I will."

Alayna rushed to get dressed.

Before leaving, she went to see how her sisters were doing.

Dominique approached them as he said, "Good morning, girls."

They smiled as Alayna hugged Darla and said, "I'll be back.

"Be good, alright?"

She hugged Kathy and kissed Darla.

"Watch her, and don't break anything!" she said to Kathy.

Kathy smiled and said, "Got it!

"Bye!"

She chuckled before leaving with Dominique.

She enquired as she traveled, "What do I have to do?"

He said, "It's nothing, hard darling.

"We'll discuss the necessary when we arrive."

She grinned and kept quiet until they got there.

She got out of the car and stood there looking at the structure.

She asked, "Product firm?"

He said, "Yes, come, let's go."

She followed him.

They stepped into an elevator to ascend to his office.

As they came out of the elevator, his assistant came to him and said, "Good morning.

"We have mister Jews in the meeting room."

He responded, "Thanks, Carie."

Carie turned and looked at Alayna and smiled.

Alayna thought, "Why the fuck is she giving me that fake smile?"

Dominique asked, "Are you alright, baby?"

Alayna looked at him and said, "Yeah, I'm fine."

He smirked and walked away.

Alayna followed him and asked, "What was that?!"

He said, "Can't I call you baby?"

She laughed.

They entered the office.

He said to her, "Alright, I have a meeting to attend.

"I'll show you around later.

"Stay here and make yourself comfortable."

He walked away as she smiled.

As Carie entered, Alayna took a tour of his workspace.

"You?" Carie asked.

"Oh hey!

"Uhh, yeah, me," Alayna responded.

Carie rolled her eyes and asked, "Who exactly are you to Dominique?"

Alayna responded, "Excuse me?

"What the fuck does my business got to do with you?"

Carie laughed and responded, "I don't know who you think you are, but whatever you're planning with him is never happening.

"He'll toss you aside when he gets bored and move on.

"Such a foolish woman."

Alayna chuckled and said, "Seems like you're one of the women he tossed aside.

"Oops, maybe you didn't even have the chance to be that close to him."

Carie responded, "You don't fit being with him.

"Look at you!

"It looks like he pulled you straight out of the ghetto."

Alayna responded, "Listen, White girl.

"Just because you can speak basic English and wear a suit doesn't imply you're larger than life.

"Watch that fucking hole in the center of your face before things get worse because even though I may be from the bottom, I can make you step 10 times lower than me."

Alayna left the office and went in search of Dominique.

She headed there after asking one of the staff members where the room was.

She said as she entered through the door. "Sorry to interrupt.

"Dominique, can I speak to you for a second?"

One of the men responded, "And who do you think you are?"

Another man added, "Who even let her in the building in that filthy dress pants and white shirt?

"Ma'am, we're in the middle of an important meeting.

"You can wait outside."

A woman said, "How dare you call the Ceo by his name!"

Dominique responded, "What is it?

"Are you okay?"

Alayna stood there looking ashamed as everyone muttered to one another.

He made his way toward her from the front of the room.

He held her face and asked, "Is everything Okay?

"I told you to say in the office."

She responded, "I'm sorry, it can wait."

She turned away from him and left.

He turned and said, "This meeting ends here."

Everyone sprang up and followed him as he walked behind Alayna.

He grabbed her and said, "Hey, talk to me."

She responded, "Your fucking people are delusional!

"Especially that Casper-looking bitch you got for an assistant.

"On top of that, these rich bastards have no fucking respect, speaking to someone they think is below them."

The men and women approached him to question what was going on.

Dominique turned and replied to them, "You all need to learn to respect others if we're going to be business partners because my firm doesn't operate below that.

"How rude of you to approach me after you've degraded my fiancee.

"I don't want to be the reason our business collapses due to my poor decisions if you cannot recognize the worth in other individuals."

Everyone stood in shock.

One of the men said, "I'm sorry, I had no idea."

Dominique responded, "Yeah?

"So, Mr. Pierre, you believe you have the right to criticize others and express your opinions?

"If there are comments to her or my employees will be handled in a way you won't like.

"Now, If you'll excuse me.

"I'm done for the day."

He proceeded to his office while holding Alayna's hand.
