CHAPTER 22: HIS WICKED THOUGHTS

HIS WICKED THOUGHTS

Richmond

He was standing beside the windows, staring at nothing in particular.

His mind was not at peace, he knew his uncle wouldn't back down like a weakling, but he would surely retaliate, he wasn't really worried about his uncle but the people he would have blabbed to, his uncle would escalate the rumor, making him look weak and powerless to anyone who wishes to listen, He can take care of them on his own but what if they attack his pack just to get to him, he curled his hands as anger rolled through him.

He stood like that, unblinking and tensed.

Suddenly, he felt a rush of air on his scent, and his nose twitched, there was no way he could have forgotten the sweet scent of the woman, the sweet smell of mother earth and jasmine flower mixed, deep-rooted in his head, he sniffed the air once again to take in the sweet smell but it was gone.

His wolf whimpered in disappointment, "maybe it's not her, it might be someone else," he spoke to his wolf, trying to console him.

By the way, his new secretary should have been here by now, he checked his watch, she was late and he was pissed, "when she gets here, I am going to fire her, this is not a professional way to start a new job," he thought.

His nose twitched once again, the sweet smell was back and this time, more intoxicating, he sniffed the air, trying to trace the smell, it was coming from behind his office door, he heard someone entering the door without even knocking.

Coming late, number one offense, entering without knocking, number two, he was going to make sure she got fired for her incompetence.

But he was in for a big surprise.

Her scent was all over the place. Here she was in the flesh with a mild down makeover, she looked very different from that night.

He wouldn't have noticed she was the one, if not for her scent and the way she was staring at him with those innocent blue eyes peering at him from those ridiculous glasses, He was happy to see her again, but also sad because she was his newly appointed secretary and he was not allowed to get involved with a staff.

The woman, that night and the woman, standing in his office were opposite, she was hot and tempting, now she is plain and boring, and her duality was maddening.

 What…the…hell?

Richmond cleared his throat, forcing her to look at him.

He had grown at least an inch or two since she last saw him, he looked taller, she couldn't see him that night but with her prescribed glasses, she could see all his incredible features. No telling how many hours in the gym it takes to maintain that perfect physique. In his finely cut suit, he was a vision to behold.

He twisted his wrist to glance at his Rolex, "Your first day as my secretary, you came late and you entered my office without knocking, that is rude, give me two reasons why I shouldn't fire you,"

She fidgeted on her seat, her eyes everywhere but on him, "I came with the staff bus, the traffic was crazy. When I got here, I couldn't find my way around until a kind man offered to help me. I am sorry for entering the door without knocking, I was feeling anxious so I entered without thinking."

He didn't know why he listened to her explanation, if she was someone else he would have shunned her, maybe it was her voice, it was truly bewitching, he thought.

His hands were itching to remove those hideous glasses from her beautiful face but he wouldn't dare.

He glanced down his nose at her. "Next time, don't be late, I don't take excuses from my staff, especially with those that work in hand with me."

Where had this arrogance and attitude come from? This was not the man two nights ago. He was gentle and loving to her, now he looked scary and cold to her.

"Miss Mccody, I'm not in the habit of repeating myself."

"OK sir, don't be late. I got it clear sir" she said calmly but her heart was still pounding, she just wanted to throw her arms around him but she didn't want to be rejected by him, especially now that he was her boss.

He hesitated a moment, leveling me with an ardent stare, "Another thing, I have a principle that I follow, I don't get involved with my staff no matter what, but your case is different. I can't fire you because we slept together, it wasn't entirely your fault, but I will like it if you keep the details to yourself, I don't want anyone saying nonsense, that you came in through sexual favors, so let's keep it as our little secret if possible let's pretend it never happened,"

Was that regret she saw behind those stunning mixed eyes? Yes, but why? He shouldn't regret and spoil the memory of her best night.

Richmond knew he was hurting her, her emotions were visibly showing on her face, but what if she was only pretending, making him believe she was oblivious to their meeting but inwardly, was playing him?

He pulled out a drawer and brought out a paper from it, "here," he stretched forth his arm and handed over the paper to her, "it is a map containing every section of the building, go to the human resources department, ask for Mr Dawson, he will show you around and also enlighten you more about your duties,"

If Mr... Dawson was the same person who helped her earlier, then she was fine, he was a nice man.

He noticed the way, her eyes became lighter, was it because he mentioned Dawson to her? Earlier he smelt a familiar male scent joined with her own, was it, Dawson? His mind was getting jutted with jealousy.

He cleared his throat, "You may go now," She nodded her head and departed his office, leaving her scent behind for him to sample and take in much to his discomfort

There was no way she couldn't have seen one of his numerous photos in the previous branch where she worked, how could she not have known, she was drunk but not too drunk for her to still remember his face, was she a gold digger like his other secretaries or maybe she has a greater agenda. Either way, things just got a hell of a lot more complicated…and interesting.

His day wasn't going as usual, he couldn't ask her much, not because it was her first time, it was her scent. Anytime she entered his office, her scent would just blast through his nostrils, making him lose his concentration, it was hell.

He had documents that he was still working on but his mind kept wandering to the beautiful lady outside, Dawson had done a good job of showing her the ropes and she had a quick mind, in just a few hours, she had gotten used to the system.

After giving her a tour of the company and lecturing her for a few hours, Dawson brought her back to Richmond for his approval.

When they entered his office, Richmond was pissed, she is looking too comfortable, and Dawson is standing too close to her for his liking, he thought

"Sir, we are done with the tour and I will say, she has an excellent mind, she told me she has never worked as a secretary before but she is willing to give the job all her attention," Dawson said, his praises made Anne blush.

Richmond was looking at the exchange between the two with distaste but he was the boss and he was supposed to be the clear-headed one.

If not he was cursed, he would have sworn she was his mate, he was feeling unnecessarily possessive of her and he hated that Dawson's scent was joined with her own, "It is her scent and my stupid hormones," he muttered beneath his breath.

"Excuse me, sir, I didn't catch that sir," Dawson said, inquiring.

"It is nothing, you did a great job, Dawson, just show her to her seat, that will be all for now," he said, forcing a smile on his face.

"Miss Anne, welcome onboard," he said but she wasn't looking at him, her eyes were lowered, not staring back at him and it bothered Richmond that the action pained him greatly.

He wanted her to smile for him and blush just as she did for Dawson but demanding it from her will be seen as crazy.

He watched as the pair left his office, smiling with each other, it took him all his strength to remain on his chair, he wanted to wrap his arms around her and never let go, also toss Dawson through the window to be seen no more.
