*Sophie’s POV*

I wondered how many people feel their life is a roller coaster ride where one minute they are riding off the highs of life, and the next, they're brought down into the belly of despair by the gut-wrenching punches of life. I was starting to see this theme play throughout my life and wondering if I should accept this as my new reality.

One day, I'm kidnapped and betrayed. The next, I'm the owner and CEO of two major media companies. I was grateful for what Nigel had done, yet I was scared. I feared there would be some devastating blow waiting for me the minute I basked in the joy of this new chapter in my life.

For the first time, I understood why my mother was a Negative Nancy, and I was curious to know what happened in her life to cause her to become pessimistic. Despite my curiosity, I wasn't ready to have the conversation with her yet, but I knew it was a conversation I wanted to have at some point.
