The Bellrose Did Not Bloom Today, Maybe Tomorrow

Due to the misfortune of being born into the powerful family of Baskervilles, Lactiflora and Roosevelt are forced to participate in the most horrendous tradition their family have, fighting for the head position, pulling hairs, dooming your cousin’s fate, nothing special. The uninterested pair decided that the sick tradition has to end. Pulling the string in the Vitrum manor, the twins found out that their fate is inevitable, but as persistent and as stubborn as their father, Lactiflora and Roosevelt, along with their cousins, discovered the secret their ancestors hid below the manor. A journey into the entrance of the abyss, into their hearts and soul. Their past, present and future. Into the unknown... Their journey will bore holes into their hearts, break their spirits, and deform the way they see the world, no matter what they gain, what they lose, they have each other. Like how they entered the manor, Lactiflora and Roosevelt will always be together.

The Weapon Looks As Good As Us

"Do you see now? Why did I want to gain his trust." Roosevelt's voice startled Lactiflora who was reading her own book while her feet were up.

"Yes, i know now, but how the hell did you know?" She now lost interest in her book, and was glad that Roosevelt is now talking about what's going on with Sakura. She was skeptical at first, they both agreed on keeping their business for themselves.

"You know how I told you once, mana and potentia flows differently. They of the same type of magic power but with different flow of direction." It was the first time Lactiflora heard of that, but this is Roosevelt, someone with an ability to feel the flow of magic power, apparently. "Mana flows from your head to your eyes, ears or mouth, that's how you cast a spell or burn someone just by looking at them. While potentia flows from you head to your limbs, making you a combatant."

At first it didn't make sense to Lactiflora, but hearing it now, it kinda does.

"Did you test your theory?" She hardly remembers her brother socializing outside some parties they attended while wearing a mask.

"No, but I made do with what I had, that's why I asked you to know who we are going to meet during some parties."

'Ah, that's it.' Roosevelt never fails to amaze Lactiflora everytime, she is so proud of her brother that she can't help but break into a smile.

"Why in the world are you grinning like an idiot." Lactiflora didn't try to hide her delight, only putting herself in a proper sitting position, the smile still present in her face.

"Nah, just imitating your ugly face."

"How dare yo–" Roosevelt was about to pounce on his sister because of the sarcastic remark, when she put her hand up to take back what she said.

"Kidding, kidding. I just thought of how amazing you are." Lactiflora broke into a laughter after seeing her brother flustered and going back to his seat.

"So back to out previous topic, about the flow of mana and potentia. You do know that i can feel it without them using the magic power. When i got close to Sakura, it was different. The magic power flows like potentia, but it feels different."

"Does it feel ominous? Like an abyss or something." Roosevelt knew where his sister is coming from, Sakura could be an abysmal creature who took a human form, but he has a potentia.

"Umm… no, i don't think so, it's an abyss, but it feels different."

"Do you think it emerged with his potentia? That's the best explanation, I guess." Lactiflora say nonchalantly, waving off what she was saying. She does that whether she doesn't want to be held accountable with what she says.

"Or it could be exposure, I heard from aunt Veronica. Prolonged exposure with abyssal energy can merge you with the abyss, whether it's flesh or energy." That made Lactiflora and Roosevelt think Sakura is an interesting individual, but he's definitely off the candidates list now.

"Meh, why are we sitting here right now tho? We should be picking our weapon now."

"But you already know what your role is, you're going for offense, and I will take on the position of a mage."

"For formalities, brother, formalities. Also I want to try wielding polearms, I read a book about it once, I just think they look cool." Unimpressed with one of his sister's antics, Roosevelt let out a sigh. As much as he wants to stay inside and look as inelegant as he wants, he can't say no to his sister, like how she always says yes to his whims, truly they are both hopeless.

"Alright, I might also try a wand, or a new spell book. I'm quite familiar with liber naturalis magicae." Both dressed up in a proper training attire, before heading down the weaponry/testing hall.

Lunaria allowed her great grandchildren to pick their choice of weapon, they can pick up to 3 and also ask Melchor and Rommel, the footmen who is in charge to guide the children, suggestions.

Once in the weaponry, all eyes befall the twins, Lactiflora is dressed in a white dress shirt with midnight blue pants, with harnesses for keeping some of her belongings like a pocket watch, overall screaming elegance and power with every sharp click-clack of her high heeled sparring boots. Roosevelt on the other hand, looked as ethereal as the sky at dawn, he wore a white dress shirt that is identical to his sister's and a black pants and boots with shorter heels, but still high heeled nonetheless. The only difference is that he is wearing a yellow pelerine over his shoulder, reminiscent of the glow of his mana.

"Do they need to be this flashy? What a show off." Many threw a disgruntled look at Olivia, who only scoffed at their ridiculousness.

The Bellrose twins look absolutely radiating, they match each other perfectly. Compliments are thrown left and right, which was returned with a shy smile and thank you from Roosevelt and a dashing smirk from Lactiflora paired with a glint in her eyes. Olivia couldn't help but to feel envious of Lactiflora once again.

Soon the attention shifted away from the twins, and went back to choosing their weapons, trying out the variety, some who had chosen already are just making changes to mold their weapons for their comfort.

"Do you have a weapon in your mind already, Miss Lactiflora?" Melchor's deep voice almost made the teen jump.

"I want to pick a polearm and a sword, if i could?" Lactiflora replied, as polite as she could.

"Of course, young miss, I do believe I have something that would fit your aesthetic."

Truth to be told, Lactiflora does not need a powerful weapon, both her and her brother do not wish to compete, but she wants a good weapon, strong enough to protect them. This is still a competition, no matter how one masks it.

Melchor came back with a mahogany box, 2 other staff are helping to carry it. Did he bring her a legendary weapon? This feels like an overkill.

The box is sat down, inside is a sword and spuntone polearm, both are filled with engravings of Bellroses.

"These are weapons of your ancestors from Bellrose, they were gifted by Lord Florian Bellrose to the 7th Head during his headship ceremony."

"Can I really have this?" Lactiflora cannot believe her eyes, she's heard of this weapon, but not a glimpse, even illustrations in books. She runs her hand on the sword, from the hilt to the tip of the blade, admiring its beauty to the fullest.

'"It's perfect, thank you, can I have it now?" She asked, with enthusiasm in her eyes, that was expertly covered with elegance. Melchor nods, happy that the weapon finally has an owner. The former Bellrose Lord gifted a set of weapons, he just hopes that Rommel made a good decision and offered the mana ring of Bellrose or the Gremoire.

The sun was already setting when their activity ended, everyone managed to pick their weapons. The children soon retired, and were allowed to have their dinner in their rooms, while the staff left to clean up the weaponry.

"I got a Grimoire, I think it's from Bellrose…" He mumbled softly, while flipping through the pages of the book

"Me too, Sir Melchor gave me something from Bellrose." Lactiflora then materializes both the sword and polearm that she got, from mana.

'As much as i appreciate them handing us these weapons, I believe it's still too much."

"Let's not think about this right now, brother. Today was quite tiring. Great grandma made it very clear, we can have any weapon." Lactiflora tries to reassure her brother, still bothered by the weapon they got. "If you don't feel somewhat comfortable with the grimoire, we can ask her to exchange it. Probably"

Somehow, the moon felt bigger tonight, clearer, like it's with them. It doesn't feel malicious, it's just watching. Lactiflora squints her eyes at it, could have been their grandma, after all there was a rumor that Lunaria is somehow connected to the moon, but she's not the type to believe in rumors. Either way it's none of her business.

The twins are both in a trance, admiring the beauty of the moon from their wide open window. There's an unknown feeling in Roosevelt that tells him, peaceful times like this will become a rare occurrence in the future. He ignored the way his heart ached at the thought, for now he wants to enjoy this moment with his sister.

Lactiflora and Roosevelt: I dont want to stand out.

Also Lactiflora and Roosevelt: *Wears the most eye catching outfit they could think of*
