The Belladonna

A Nuclear apocalypse brought the world to its knees. Innocent souls taken from their sanctuary and millions of different species across the world dying with them. Skeletons scattered over the plains of the earth, the bodies long but fertilisation for the surface. Forgotten faces abandoned, disappearing into what was once known as their life. Those that still reside on this disfigured sphere, no longer what used to be known as human. Enhanced abilities for some and disfigurations for others. The Flairs, as they call those gifted with abilities are all of the female gender. The Mars, the damaged race, are all of the male gender. A constant fight for survival, peace no longer even a word in their vocabulary. Lawless actions are taken by foolish leaders that could lead to the final extinction of life on their broken planet. A world isolated between who is superior, genders split from one another in a fight for power. Could a group of highly skilled Flair assassins successfully detach themselves from this cruel environment and fight for what is truly important? Can a group of rebellious Mars warriors merge with their enemies if it means to help those who are innocent? Will enemies become friends? Or will they hold a knife to each other's throats? Will they sacrifices their last breath for their people or will they fall on their knees for those with greater power?

Present Day:

I sat quietly waiting. Stalking. There were a few of the guys who wanted to train and I was willing to give them a challenge. I was alone against five of them. It was a game of cat and mouse, but what they do not realise is that I am predator and they are prey.

I opened my eyes and smiled as I heard their pathetic movement. If I were an enemy, they would have been long dead. Their loud steps would make sure of that. I sat on top of a sturdy branch looking down at them. They do not even consider looking up in the trees. They were surrounded by a forest covered in fresh snow. Why would they think someone would walk and hide on the ground? It leads to easy tracking and unnecessarily loud noises. Hence why I knew exactly where they were even before they started crouching around.

"Baka." I said to myself, sighing as I made way down the large trunk.

I silently step onto the snow. My daggers sat idly waiting for my reach. I am not even bothering to crouch or hide from them. They were certain I was ahead of them somewhere and completely disregarded the fact that they could have passed me.

"He is probably hiding like a coward." The one at the front said, earning a few chuckles from the others around him.

"Gōman wa anata no shi ni narimasu" I said soft enough that they would not hear.

The ice crystals hung dangerously from the branches surrounding us. Their sharp points perfect weapons for idiots walking underneath them. They would never see them coming. I hear the call of a Snow Buba nearby. Seeing movement up towards the left I see the creature sitting on a branch. Staring silently at us walking beneath it. It was probably curious as to why I resemble him. A small smile is etched on my face.

The creature's white wings and golden eyes stare in curiosity. They still resemble an owl, only some of them are slightly bigger while others are big enough for use of transport. But no one truly have had the talent to tame one of them. Yet. Its feathers camouflaged it amongst the trees. Something I have trained myself to do.

My stark white hair reaches my hips and my white and brown feathers give me the perfect cover for hunting in the snow. Today, my hunt is the untrained and unskilled Mars still unaware of my presence behind them.

I walk silently towards one of the trees where I have had enough time to attach a white rope. The idiots did not even bother to see it. Their arrogant attitudes and weak minds taking over their common sense.

I wait for the last Mars, straining a bit too far from his group, to step over the rope. As he does, I lightly tug the rope and it tightens around him. Before he could even make a noise to register my presence, I have quickly secured a cloth over his mouth. The chloroform knocking him out instantly. His head hung low and I pull, making him hang in the air with the rope tightly secured around him.

I turn around and gather my blades in my hands itching for the cool metal to reach my them. I waited silently for the right opportunity. Once I see it, I quickly throw two of my blades aimed for a male standing far too long next to a tree. The first blade secures him against it, pinning him through his clothes. The noise non-existent. The second knife secured him right next to his leg. His head whipped towards me, a slight fear in his eyes as I knock him out with the chemical.

I remove my blades from the tree and grab the Mars so that his fall is silent. Two down and three more to go. I stand behind another male, mimicking his moves as he is oblivious of his surroundings. I simply knock him out knocking him out with the back of my blade. Guiding his body to the ground as move to the fourth one. I purposely leave the arrogant Mars for last.

I grab the sword held by the male, making him turn his head towards me. His eyes went wide as I was quick to move around him. With my back towards his, his hand fastened beneath mine on one side. I use my elbow on my other arm and hit his nose. Before he could register the pain and make any noise I was standing before him. I pulled his arm, taking his whole body with me and slam him to the ground. The impact almost knocking him out. I used the chloroform again.

I intended the noise to be heard by the last one but he was too far off to even hear anything. Rolling my eyes and sighing I take a few steps towards a big tree trunk. I leaned on it and took my blades from my holsters, balancing the tips of them on my fingers. Their balance and weight not even piercing my skin. A perfect combination of balance and proper training.

"You know....if this was a real fight, your head would be on a stake by now." I spoke.

The last Mars abruptly turned around, his sword at the ready. It was only when he saw me that his eyes widened and realised that he was alone. I could see him trying to find the others. His eyes resting on their unconscious bodies.

A smile as I stare at his fear. "Coward huh?" I tilted my head and the Mars eyes widened even more.

I stood from my position and put my blades back in their place. I stand at the ready and gesture for him to come at me. The male seemed to contemplate his decision before his arrogance took over and he rushed towards me. His sword in both his hands as he aims for my head. Of course, he has a blunt and the blade would only give me a bruise. This moron would not even be able to knock me out. His strength far too little. The boy had long teeth and his tail flicked behind him as he grew excited for a challenge. I would not give him one. I would easily win. I would barely break a sweat. I do not have the time for his mediocre games.

I stood still and waited. His blade came for me and I swiftly move my body to the side, making the boy almost fall on his face. He grew frustrated and tried to swing at me again, only for me to duck down and swipe my leg from under him. He fell on his back and grunted from the impact. My back was turned to him and my eyes were closed as I listened to the sounds of nature around me.

The boy made a ridiculous attempt at a war cry as he opted for his blade. Just before he reached me, I turned and grabbed his wrist, twisting his hand in an irregular way. The boy cried out and the knife fell to the ground. I only stared in disbelief at the blade and how easily he gave up his fight. I pulled him forward while I faced him. I grabbed his other wrist, my brows furrowed in irritation as I head bud him. His eyes roll back for a moment before he looked at me again. He was on the brink of falling unconscious. I leaned in towards his face and grabbed him by the throat, careful not to press too hard on the frail man's neck. I need him conscious for this.

"Arrogance is not welcome here. Your attitude is rotten and your skills are paltry." The boy's eyes only showed fear as he struggled to break loose from my strong hold on him.

"If I ever see that you mock anyone and pretend that you are something you are not. You will have proven me right in believing in your insignificance here and I will personally ensure that your head will hand on the gates of hell. A reminder of arrogant pricks like you and what happens if you do not work like a team and believing you are better than others. Do you understand me?" I spat angrily in his face.

"Ye..yes." He stuttered.

"Awarena." I said as I let him go. "Release your friends and return to the camp."

The boy cried and scrambled off towards the others. I only watched as he woke the others up and left. I looked towards the Snow Buba who seemingly enjoyed the show. It flapped its wings, calling out and fled to who knows where.

I turn my head to the side as I hear them.

"Was beginning to think you got killed out there." I smiled.

I turn to see Zion and Desta standing with too much baggage and an injured Mars male next to them. My brows furrowed in confusion and my smile fell.

"What happened? There were more of you."

"I think we better head inside. You might want to sit down to hear everything." Zion said.

"Agreed." Desta said, clasping his hands together. "Where's the food? I am hungry as hell."

They walked towards me as we all headed towards the camp. Desta throws his arm around my shoulders, his usual wide smile etched on his face.

"I have missed you Arwan. I mean Zion is fun and all but I need someone else to throw sarcastic banter at me other than Mr. Brood over here." He said pointing at Zion who only rolled his eyes as we walked.

I only sighed and removed his arm from my shoulders. Slightly bending his hand, enough for him to get the message.

"Touch me again and I will remove your hand to stuff it up your ass along with that stick you keep there." I said nonchalantly.

Zion and the other male only laughed; Desta's smile was as wide as ever.

"See. There he is."

I only shook my head walking silently with the rest towards the camp. It seems the news truly is something of utmost urgency. They came a long way for this. I can feel something bad brewing. They can feel it too. I can see it on their faces, no matter how hard they try to hide it.
