Annoying and Persistent

The next day I get a phone call from 'Dagger' to come in today in my uniform. That meant he wanted me to wear my assassin outfit. He didn't fill me in on any details.

Me changing into my Assassin clothes is a pretty quick process. I leave the clothes in a shadow, walk to the shadow. Go inside, change and come out another shadow. No one is the wiser.

Walking around daylight in this outfit isn't new either. Occasionally they make me do typical hero work if other people can't and I assume today is no different. Dagger was the type of person who preferred talking face to face rather than over the phone too, even though all phone conversations are untraceable and encrypted anyway.

I made it to work, got through the front door and received strange looks by all the normal upstanding heroes like usual. It's only fair since I may seem like a strange person suddenly entering. They go back about their business once they gauge I'm not a threat. I approach Dagger's office only to see someone odd in there. Stellar Starlight…why is she in there? They seem to be having a conversation. Maybe I should wait until they're done talking. Just as I was about to walk away I make eye contact with dagger through his office window and he sort of makes a face at me as if he wanted me to save him. I sigh and think for a moment before walking in.

I move in silently but it's not something Starlight wouldn't hear. She turned to me immediately and says. "Sorry but we're having a meeting here, you should wait….hey do I know you? You look familiar." I shake my head and look at Dagger. "The mission?" Dagger looks as if he suddenly remembered that he had other business to attend to, then has the nerve to actually say.

"Ah wow look at the time, we've been talking here for hours yet you still know nothing. Look I'd love to continue this game of ring around with you but as you can see I have a briefing to do, you also have a missed soon yes?" She quickly rebutted. "This isn't over." And left promptly after giving me one final look as if tying to figure me out.

We were left alone and I took a seat like normal. Dagger would say. "So we learned Stellar Starlight's Archenemies Void sent some a very specialized assassin after her. We'd like you to take care of it. They go by the code name Heart Beat." I look at him with confusion. It was a weird name after all. Also actually having someone killing Stellar Starlight would be surprising. She's the strongest and her powers seem to be never ending. "So why did they hire Heart Beat." He smiled at me. "Isn't it obvious? It's because Heart Beat has the power to kill Stellar Starlight."
