Chapter 488: Identity Investigation Commission

Michael stepped forward, "Mr. Coulson, please follow me."

As Coulson looked at the man in front of him, information about him immediately surfaced in his mind. Although S.H.I.E.L.D. couldn't find information about the werewolves who had joined the Charles Agency, they did find information about the man before him.

Michael Corvin: 29 years old, a doctor living in London, England. He became a doctor after his wife died in a fatal accident, dedicating himself to helping others ever since.

Coulson had some questions about why this doctor had come to New York and joined the Charles Agency as a service personnel, as he didn't understand it fully.

Coulson replied, "Okay!"

Then, Coulson followed Michael toward the meeting room.

Meanwhile, Selene, at the reception desk, picked up the phone and dialed a number. Soon, the call was answered.

"Lord Kakashi, Agent Coulson has come to visit, saying he has a mission to entrust."

"Understood."

After hanging up the phone, Selene continued with her other tasks at the reception desk.

Coulson followed Michael into the meeting room.

After placing the briefcases on the table, Coulson looked at Michael, who was about to leave, and asked, "Dr. Michael, I'm curious. Why did you give up your job as a doctor in London and come to New York to join the Charles Agency?"

Instead of answering Coulson's question, Michael asked, "Coffee or ice water?"

Seeing that Michael didn't respond to his question, Coulson simply waved his hand and said, "No need for either."

Seeing that Coulson didn't need anything to drink, Michael left the meeting room.

Coulson looked at Michael's departing figure with some helplessness. S.H.I.E.L.D. wasn't omnipotent, and there were still many gaps in their intelligence.

Coulson sat on the sofa in the meeting room and waited. Soon, the door opened, and Kakashi Hatake, dressed in ANBU attire, walked in.

Seeing the unfamiliar ninja in front of him, Coulson felt a sense of unfamiliarity mixed with familiarity. It seemed that Konoha had sent reinforcements again, this time sending an ANBU ninja.

Approaching, Coulson extended his hand, "Hello, I'm Agent Coulson of S.H.I.E.L.D. We have a commission that requires your assistance."

Kakashi's voice was cold and devoid of emotion as he shook Coulson's hand, "Agent Coulson, hello. Could you please tell me about the details of the commission?"

Coulson and Kakashi sat down on the sofa. Kakashi took out a scroll of mission details from his pocket and placed it on the table, ready to write.

"Mr. Coulson, you can tell me about your commission."

Seeing the familiar process of commissioning, Coulson began, "I'd like to ask for your help in investigating the background of a person. The more detailed the information, the better."

As he spoke, Coulson took out a photo from his pocket. It was none other than the newly recruited Kabuto who had just joined S.H.I.E.L.D. a couple of days ago.

Coulson placed Kabuto's photo in front of Kakashi and continued, "Kabuto claims to be from the Land of Fire and is a wandering ninja."

"S.H.I.E.L.D. will commission the Charles Agency to investigate his background information in hopes of obtaining as much intelligence as possible."

"I wonder how much it would cost for such an intelligence investigation?"

Upon hearing Coulson's description, Kakashi looked up at him and then began to explain, "The detailed investigation of the wandering ninja Kabuto is classified as a B-rank mission."

"For this mission, the initial fee for the Charles Agency is 200 energy blocks if there are no battles with ninjas during the investigation."

"If a battle with ninjas does occur during the investigation, the price will increase. Depending on the strength of the opposing ninja, the fee will vary."

Coulson, upon hearing the offer, found it similar to the prices offered by the Puppet Shop of Sunagakure and asked, "If a battle does occur, how much will the price increase?"

After a moment of thought, Kakashi replied, "Considering Kabuto's status as a wandering ninja, the price increase will be approximately threefold in most cases, requiring an additional 600 energy blocks."

"But in case of unforeseen and extraordinary events, the maximum fee could be as high as 2000 energy blocks."

Hearing the maximum fee, Coulson was surprised and asked, "My, how could it reach such a price?"

Kakashi's expression remained unchanged as he explained, "If an S-rank shinobi intervenes in the mission and a battle ensues, the price could rise to this level."

"Of course, based on the information you provided, a nameless wandering ninja is unlikely to involve such a scenario. Even if there is a battle, it would likely be with a ninja of Kabuto's level or at most one level higher."

Upon hearing the explanation, Coulson understood and said, "I understand. I can accept this price."

Coulson then patted the briefcase he brought with him and said, "This time I brought 200 energy blocks as a deposit for the intelligence commission. If the remuneration increases later, we will make up the difference."

Kakashi nodded and then said, "In that case, I will begin to register the mission commission."

After Kakashi finished writing the details of the mission on the scroll, he handed it over to Coulson for confirmation.

Coulson glanced at the scroll and found it consistent with what he had said. He then signed his name on it.

After handing the signed scroll back to Kakashi, Coulson asked, "I wonder if you have any stock of body enhancement serums available? I'm prepared to purchase some."

Kakashi looked at Coulson and replied, "We currently don't have any stock of body enhancement serums. Once they arrive, we will notify you."

Hearing that the Charles Agency didn't have body enhancement serums for sale, Coulson felt disappointed. He continued, "That's very unfortunate."

"Please notify me as soon as the body enhancement serums arrive. I'll come over to make the purchase."
