The Archivist's Ploy: A Tale of One Against The World

Far above the horizon, beyond the clouds and the apocalyptic storms under it, hovered a yellow-haired old-looking man. His yellow eyes gave off a bright radiance, and countless books floated around him. Throughout history, the man was known by many names, (The Watcher - The Chronicler - The Historian - The Custodian - The Recordkeeper) But during this Era, he was known as The Archivist. The Archivist's perception inspected thousands of kilometers far and wide, Yet 'Nothing interesting is happening' His frustration grew 'What's the point of a worldwide perception if there's no apposite change to perceive?' 'The world has become mundane' 'And no one is doing anything about it' Ergo, The Archivist will take matters into his own hands 'I'll orchestrate a worldwide, All-embracing scheme against an oblivious individual' With a sinister smile on his face, he devised his plan 'Turn the entire world into a person's antagonist, Then enjoy the show' And he had the perfect plot for it 'First, Utter Despair that would cause immense Pain' 'Then, More Despair that would turn the Pain to Loathe' 'Then, As the Loathe grows, The Despair will transform into Rage' 'The Rage will make the Being Crave Revenge, and the intense Crave will result in Devotion to his goal' 'Finally, The Despair, Pain, Loathe, Crave, and Devotion will all be used as fuel for the Rage, Transforming it into an even extremer emotion' "WRATH" How would a single person unleash his Wrath against the entire world? 'That's what I'm going to find out' "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" The Archivist's maniacal laughter echoed loudly 'The world is about to be entertaining' He looked up and asked with a reverberating, Bleak voice "Who will be the unlucky one?"

Viorica in The Library

When a month passed and Leus didn't return home, Viorica became worried and decided to go and check on him.

When it was morning, she packed some food and went to the library.

When she reached, Felix and Robert were on guard duty.

The two already knew her because she had come a couple of times before, so when they saw her, Felix spoke in a friendly voice

"Soldier Viorica, how can we help you?"

To Viorica, all the knights in the city were Blaze's acquaintances in one way or another, so she feels somewhat comfortable talking to them.

Regardless, she still finds the way they speak a little strange

"Hello, I came because Leus took so long, is he still inside?"

Robert replied

"Give me a moment to check with the Master"

Then he went inside and left Felix alone with Viorica.

Felix still felt grateful to Leus for letting the matter of knocking him out go without any problems

'If it was someone else, I'd have probably been fired on the spot, or at the very least fined a hefty amount.'

Most Mages came from well-off families, and all of them came to the library for one reason or another, so throughout his shifts, Felix has dealt with many entitled Mages.

From his point of view, what Leus has done is a very benevolent act.

'To be this polite and understanding in this age is definitely out of the ordinary.'

So he decided to praise Leus just a bit in front of his mother now that he was alone with her

"The Young Master is very kind and well-behaved"

When Viorica heard that she beamed

"He's a very bright child! And smart! I'm happy that you think in this way!"

Felix smiled back and nodded

"You're right, being accepted as the Master's apprentice is not an easy feat. I'm sure he's a genius."

Viorica's smile became even wider, but before she could say anything Robert came back and said

"The Master says that Leus is still inside, he's training."

Viorica was both relieved to hear that he was okay and saddened that she couldn't see him, but there was nothing she could do about it, so she gave the food she prepared to Felix.

"I prepared the food for Leus, but since he can't have it then please you two eat it."

Normally, guards are not supposed to accept such things from strangers, but since she is the Young Master's mother, and since her food is really good, they made an exception

"Thank you very much, Soldier Viorica"

She smiled and said goodbye then left

Over the next few days, Viorica went to the library multiple times, every time leaving in the same way, and every time giving the guards tasty food, which made them like Leus even more.

The same pattern repeated a couple of times until one day things happened differently.

As usual, Viorica went and asked about Leus and Robert went inside to ask Arno.

However, this time, when Robert came out, Arno came out with him.

Viorica was taken aback. She heard a lot about the Librarian, but she had never seen him in person, and he's also not a knight, so the idea of being Blaze's acquaintance wasn't there to comfort her. She was visibly nervous upon seeing him.

'I don't want to do or say anything that would embarrass Leus'

That was her line of thinking.

All Viorica knew about the Librarian was that he was very old and very knowledgeable, he'd been the Librarian since long before Viorica was even born.

As for Viorica, her entire knowledge about magic revolved around two things

1- It can create clear water

2- It can create fancy tricks, as Blaze told her.

Other than that, She knew practically nothing about it.

She was worried that her lack of knowledge would be a cause of embarrassment to Leus.

While Viorica was thinking about all that, Arno spoke in a somewhat friendly tone

"There's no need to be worried. Come inside."

He gestured with his hand for Viorica to follow him, and he walked inside.

Viorica was still nervous and confused, but Felix quickly assured her

"Don't be nervous, go inside."

That made her calm down a bit and she walked inside.

This was the first time Viorica saw the inside of the Library,

'It's so ... bewitching'

For a couple of seconds, she kept looking at the bookshelves in awe.

'Lines and lines of books ...'

Standing at the door, Felix sensed Viorica's aura in his Domain, and he knew that she was standing in one place.

After a couple of seconds passed like that, he decided to quickly go and check on her.

He entered the library and saw her just standing in one place turning her head around.

He slowly walked and stood beside her

"Soldier Viorica"

Viorica was pulled out of her daze by his voice and she looked at him stupefied

"Soldier Viorica, Master Arno is waiting, go this way."

He pointed in the direction of Arno's desk and ushered Viorica to quickly go.

She nodded and ran inside.

Viorica walked to Arno's desk and stood in front of it.

Arno asked her

"Is this the first time you enter?"

She nodded without saying anything.

Arno was able to literally see her nervousness from her unstable aura.

Thinking that she was worried about Leus, Arno tried to assure her

"Leus is just fine, don't be nervous."

Although she was worried because of something else, his words served their purpose and she calmed down.

He saw that and asked her

"You've been coming a lot recently, is there something going on?"

"No. It just has been too long, more than 40 days have passed.

Leus usually comes home in about a month"

Arno nodded

"I understand, but there's nothing to worry about.

He's immersed in his training, do you want to see him?"

She immediately agreed

"Of course"

"Follow me then."

Arno walked forward and to Viorica's surprise, he made a door appear out of nowhere

'Wow ... What magic is that"

She was once again in awe but she didn't say anything.

Arno opened the magical door and entered the room, then Viorica followed behind him.

What she saw inside the room absolutely shocked her to the core.
