The Archivist's Ploy: A Tale of One Against The World

Far above the horizon, beyond the clouds and the apocalyptic storms under it, hovered a yellow-haired old-looking man. His yellow eyes gave off a bright radiance, and countless books floated around him. Throughout history, the man was known by many names, (The Watcher - The Chronicler - The Historian - The Custodian - The Recordkeeper) But during this Era, he was known as The Archivist. The Archivist's perception inspected thousands of kilometers far and wide, Yet 'Nothing interesting is happening' His frustration grew 'What's the point of a worldwide perception if there's no apposite change to perceive?' 'The world has become mundane' 'And no one is doing anything about it' Ergo, The Archivist will take matters into his own hands 'I'll orchestrate a worldwide, All-embracing scheme against an oblivious individual' With a sinister smile on his face, he devised his plan 'Turn the entire world into a person's antagonist, Then enjoy the show' And he had the perfect plot for it 'First, Utter Despair that would cause immense Pain' 'Then, More Despair that would turn the Pain to Loathe' 'Then, As the Loathe grows, The Despair will transform into Rage' 'The Rage will make the Being Crave Revenge, and the intense Crave will result in Devotion to his goal' 'Finally, The Despair, Pain, Loathe, Crave, and Devotion will all be used as fuel for the Rage, Transforming it into an even extremer emotion' "WRATH" How would a single person unleash his Wrath against the entire world? 'That's what I'm going to find out' "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" The Archivist's maniacal laughter echoed loudly 'The world is about to be entertaining' He looked up and asked with a reverberating, Bleak voice "Who will be the unlucky one?"

Slow Phase

At dawn, Leus was already on his way to the library, Because he was excited to learn new spells, he got up early.

He quickly reached, entered his training room, and activated the barrier.

He focused on his surroundings and began trying to silently cast Mud

'Here goes nothing'

But very quickly he realized that it was a much more complicated process than he thought

'Not only do I have to simultaneously cast water and earth, but the elements need to have specific characteristics so both can merge into a single spell ...'

After trying for a while Leus realized that doing it this way was impossible

So he changed his approach.

He chanted the spell, memorized the specific details of how it felt, and then again tried to silently cast it with the information etched into his mind, And so on.

'That's much more tiring than I thought'

Leus had to keep repeating the process countless times, The amount of focus he had to put in gave him a headache.

On top of that, after chanting and silently casting the spell numerous times, his mana pool became critically low which exhausted him even more.

Time passed like that,

Eventually, Leus was on the floor covered in sweat and panting

'Yeah .. That's not what I expected'

He gathered whatever little strength he had left and walked to the bathroom, Used Water to wash his body and drank, Then directly went to the bed

'I need to sleep'

As soon as Leus' head touched the pillow he slept.

A few hours later, Leus got up and began thinking about his progress

'I guess this is how it's going to be for a while'

'Learning Third Tier spells will take longer than I expected. Actually, How many spells are even there?'

Leus got up and went to his desk where he left the book and opened it

He skipped the first spell which he already knew, and read the next one

(Water and Darkness:

Poison: An Advanced spell that allows you to create a poison with the characteristics you want.

Unlike the normal Darkness spell with the same name (Poison) which creates a poison of pure darkness, This spell, based on the concentration of the Darkness and the Water Mana, can create a poison that tastes just like water, or an altered poison that'd only cause agony but not kill the target or one that'd make the target lose his mind.

It is more of a Torture spell than an Assassination one, but it works for both.

Water and Light:

Potion: Create a potion that can heal/cleanse the target.

Commonly referred to as Holy Water.

Your potion can have any characteristics you want, From healing to increasing Mana/stamina.

Note: You can't do with Potion what you normally aren't able to do with Light, The purpose of the spell is to save a healing spell in liquid form, If you can't cast a healing spell then the potion will have no value other than restoring the user's Mana/Stamina

Earth and Darkness:

Poisonous Melee/Venomous Blade: Cover your summoned weapons in Darkness Mana, Disrupting the regenerative capabilities of your opponents.

With this spell, Even the tiniest graze becomes a potential threat.

Fire and Earth:

Meteor: This spell allows you to create a blazing boulder and then direct it to plummet onto your chosen location.

Fire and Light:

Laser: Create a very narrow, intensely concentrated beam of light that's heated up by Fire Mana

Note: Very similar to Hydraulic

Fire and Darkness:

Poisoned Flame: This spell allows you to create black fire imbued with poisonous properties, adaptable to various forms such as flickering flames or explosive fireballs.

The fire created with this spell has special characteristics, Its smoke is poisonous, and inhaling this perilous fume causes internal burns, while mere contact inflicts excruciating pain and immediate burns.

Ice and Wind:

Blizzard: Create a large icy storm, that has the potential to freeze your target to the brink of death or, at the very least, render the surroundings incredibly challenging for them.

Wind and Darkness

Grim Storm: Release a strong gust of dark wind that annihilates whatever stands in its path.

Normally, Darkness gas can only be released in confined spaces or it'd simply disperse, However, by incorporating the element of Wind, you gain better control over its location and spread.)

Leus sighed

'9 spells .. That'd take weeks if not months'

He was a bit bothered because he knew it would take him a lot longer than he anticipated, But he quickly came to terms with it

'The spells are very good and I think they're worth it'

'Even if it'll take more time, it can't be helped'

'I just have to train harder'

And so, Leus entered a slow phase.

He depleted his Mana Pool countless times.

He slept on the floor of his training room countless times.

He used the spells hundreds if not thousands of times.

Some spells would take only a few days to master, Other spells would take a week or even two.

Regardless, Leus never stopped training, He had a goal and he aimed to achieve it

'I'll master silent casting of all the Third Tier Spells'

And so, he strived for his goal.

There was nothing easy about it, But he trained relentlessly.

His mana pool increased even more because of the number of times he depleted it.

However, No matter what, Leus maintained going back home at least once a week

Leus' schedule remained unchanged, He also had no plans of changing it anytime soon.

'As long as I'm making progress, I'll never stop nor change how I train'

Occasionally, Leus would face some difficulties in understanding how to transform an element into a specific state or alter a specific characteristic to make it merge with another element.

Every time that happened, he went to Arno for help, and Arno always knew exactly what the problem was and how to fix it.

Just following Arno's instructions always solved Leus' problems.

That impressed Leus A LOT

'He's a living encyclopedia'

Leus wasn't sure if Arno himself knew how to use those elements

'But regardless, He knows everything about how they work and how to use/alter them'

' ... Did he actually read all the books here?'

Time marched on, and days turned into weeks, then weeks transformed into months, yet Leus persisted in relentless training, while life continued in its familiar rhythm.

Eventually, Leus mastered all 9 spells, And only a couple of days after that, Blaze returned home.
