The Archivist's Ploy: A Tale of One Against The World

Far above the horizon, beyond the clouds and the apocalyptic storms under it, hovered a yellow-haired old-looking man. His yellow eyes gave off a bright radiance, and countless books floated around him. Throughout history, the man was known by many names, (The Watcher - The Chronicler - The Historian - The Custodian - The Recordkeeper) But during this Era, he was known as The Archivist. The Archivist's perception inspected thousands of kilometers far and wide, Yet 'Nothing interesting is happening' His frustration grew 'What's the point of a worldwide perception if there's no apposite change to perceive?' 'The world has become mundane' 'And no one is doing anything about it' Ergo, The Archivist will take matters into his own hands 'I'll orchestrate a worldwide, All-embracing scheme against an oblivious individual' With a sinister smile on his face, he devised his plan 'Turn the entire world into a person's antagonist, Then enjoy the show' And he had the perfect plot for it 'First, Utter Despair that would cause immense Pain' 'Then, More Despair that would turn the Pain to Loathe' 'Then, As the Loathe grows, The Despair will transform into Rage' 'The Rage will make the Being Crave Revenge, and the intense Crave will result in Devotion to his goal' 'Finally, The Despair, Pain, Loathe, Crave, and Devotion will all be used as fuel for the Rage, Transforming it into an even extremer emotion' "WRATH" How would a single person unleash his Wrath against the entire world? 'That's what I'm going to find out' "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" The Archivist's maniacal laughter echoed loudly 'The world is about to be entertaining' He looked up and asked with a reverberating, Bleak voice "Who will be the unlucky one?"

Headlines

Inside The DailyNews' Building; (The most famous newspaper in Crimson Walls):

A man was frantically running while holding what looked like a gemstone in his hand.

He was pushing all his colleagues out of his way like a madman

"Move"

"MOVE!"

"Clear the way"

He kept running until he reached an office, its door had a sign that read (The Editor)

The man pushed the door open without knocking and entered shouting

"BOSS BOSS!"

A red-haired man who seemed to be in his 50s was sitting behind the desk preparing for tomorrow's journal.

Naturally, all that shouting interrupted him, so he replied with annoyance

"Austin, can't you maintain some civility?"

"Boss Cameron, this is worth it, trust me!"

Cameron's interest was piqued, but he didn't let it show on his face

"What is it? Show me" He asked, maintaining his annoyed tone

"Remember yesterday's story about (The Fire Stallion's appearance near the Library)"

Cameron nodded

"Yeah, the Duke's daughter's fancy appearance, what about it?"

"Our source inside the Red Mansion, a servant, confirmed the rise of a new Noble Inferno!"

Cameron's eyes gleamed

"Do we have any pictures of him?"

Austin wryly smiled

"Not exactly, no one has seen him since he entered the Mansion"

Cameron's expression fell and he was about to curse Austin, but Austin quickly added

"But!!! One of our juniors was taking pictures of the Fire Stallions, and among them, he took this picture!"

Austin clicked on the gemstone-like object in his hand, and it revealed an image.

The image was a slightly high view of a teen's backside.

The teen looked fairly strong and had pinkish-purple hair.

In front of the teen stood two Fire Stallions sideways, and a little bit beside him, half of a red-haired woman's face showed, she seemed to be talking to the teen about something, but his face was not in the picture.

Cameron looked at the picture for a bit then asked

"Who is that? Is that the rumored Library's Young Master whom we were never able to see?"

Talking about that reminded Cameron of some old memories ...

About a year ago, the DailyNews got a report that the Library had an Emblem holder, a young master.

Naturally, they wanted to interview him or at least take pictures to post about him

However, the Young Master's appearance was extremely rare, the Library's regular visitors often said that they either saw him for a few minutes every couple of weeks or never saw him at all.

There were some ways to get pictures of him, like stalking the Library until he appeared, but

'It was not worth the risk'

There didn't seem to be anything interesting regarding the subject, the Young Master wasn't abusing his powers or showing any strange behavior, so there was no way to get a spicy story.

Sure, people would probably like to know about the existence of a new Young Master, but it's not First-Page materials that justified the risks they'd have to take to get these pictures.

Usually, there shouldn't be any risks, but

'That bastard Arno hates journalism and free speech!'

Going anywhere near the Library was prohibited for journalists since (The Incident)

(The Incident) was a big event that took place about 6 decades ago, and it is very taboo even today.

One day, a Journalist named Kevin managed to take a picture of Arno using a human as a "Teaching Material" for an apprentice.

How he managed to take such a picture remains a mystery until today.

In the picture, Arno appeared to be pointing at the subject's neck, while his apprentice was shooting what looked like water bullets.

Publishing that picture caused an uproar among the citizens, accusing Arno of inhumanity and cruelty, and spreading bad rumors about the library and the city's leadership, but that was it.

Arno himself never publicly addressed the situation, and the Duke never took any action against him.

About two weeks after the incident, a new law was made that prohibited taking any pictures inside the Library.

Three days after that, Kevin was found dead in his house.

Cause of Death: Drowning while sleeping.

How did he drown while he was asleep? Well ... "The Details are unclear"

Since that day, no journalist dared to enter the library, and "The Incident" became a very taboo subject, only discussed between journalists to warn their fellow journalists from being anywhere around the deranged Librarian.

Luckily, it seems that one of the Juniors managed to sneak and take a couple of pictures near the library.

Austin's voice brought Cameron back to the present

"Yes! I have a source who knows a guy who knows a guy who knows a girl who is a friend of a friend, that friend is a friend of the wife of one of the Library's Guards, through him, I was able to confirm that this picture is indeed of the mysterious FORMER Library's Young Master"

It wasn't hard for Cameron to put the pieces together with the new information

"So this teen was the Library's Young Master and now became a Young Lord?"

"Exactly"

"Do we have a name?"

"Leus, Leus Inferno"

Cameron grinned

"This ... this is First-Page materials"

He walked out of the office and shouted

"Everyone is staying overtime"

"BOOOOOOOO-"

He went back inside and closed the door, ignoring the frustrated workers' complaints, and began thinking of a fancy headline.

He was scratching his beard in thought, but Austin's loud voice, once again, interrupted his thoughts.

"I have a good idea"

" ... Thanks for killing mine, what is it?"

"If we talk about the fact that his hair is purple and he's an Inferno, we would probably get more sales"

Cameron narrowed his eyes

"What do you mean?"

Austin smirked

"Like this:

(The Impure Inferno! A purple taint in the Red Mansion's history, could the newest Inferno be incapable of using Fire Magic?)"

Cameron sneered

"Young and naive, sure, it'd sell, but you won't stay around long enough to enjoy the profits.

You'd end up just like Kevin, the only difference would be that you'd die grilled."

Cameron laughed at his own taunt, but Austin didn't back down

"We can post it under Anonymous name!"

Cameron's laughs came to a sudden halt

"What? No! So instead of grilling only you, the entire organization will get incinerated, right? Thanks, but no thanks."

Cameron added with a smirk

"I already have something in mind."

Guys, How do you think Kevin died?

And what do you think Arno was doing?
