The Alphas 1.1

Dad and I arrived at home, and when we walked through the front door, I saw mom sitting down in her chair, reading a book. She glanced up as we walked in, and I saw the confusion that crossed her face. She put a bookmark in her book to mark her place before she closed the book and set it on the end table. Mom rose to her feet, giving dad a small kiss before she decided to question us.

"So, why are you guys home? This normally doesn't end till about midnight." Mom said softly, her eyebrows scrunched in confusion, "did something happen?"

Dad rolled his eyes, giving me a look that I knew all too well, "well, I'm not too sure if something happened or how it happened, but I guess the Alphas are going to join us for dinner tonight and I told them that we could house them. So, I'm going to have Kai go get the spare bedroom ready."

Mom's eyes widened in surprise and she looked at me confused, "the Alphas are coming here? What did you do, Kai?"

"Nothing!" I defended myself, but I couldn't help but feel a little doubtful, "at least, I don't think I did anything. I was staring off into space and I didn't see that they had arrived so I didn't bow on time. And then when I went to get a drink and some food, Kody found me and wouldn't leave me alone. I-"

Mom grabbed my face, anger clear across her face. It was really shocking to see, "you mean 'Kody' as in your ex Kody?"

"Uh, yes." I mumbled through my squished face.

"Did that no good bastard touch you or anything?" Mom demanded, releasing my face, "is he still there? I'd like to put my foot up his-"

"Mom!" I cut her off, gently grabbing her hands, "I'm okay. Gio and Kit came and-"

"Gio and Kit?" Mom asked, sounding even more confused, "who are they?"

I blushed, realizing what I had said, "um, yes, those are the Alphas. They told me to address them by that."

Mom exchanged looks with dad, a blank expression appearing on her face, "and nothing else happened?"

"Tell her how Alpha Christian had his arm wrapped around you and had you practically plastered against him." Dad growled, pouring himself a glass of whiskey.

Mom's eyes widened in shock, "what?"

"It wasn't like that!" I yelled, feeling like I was about to erupt in fire from how bad I was blushing, "he was protecting me, I think, cause Kody had taken a step towards me and I had shrunk back. He was only being nice."

Dad grunted, "yeah. Being nice."

Mom didn't look too pleased, but she smiled slightly and patted me on the cheek, "alright, I believe you. Go and get the guest bedroom ready. I hope they don't mind sleeping in the same bed together."

Dad kissed the top of her head, "I'm sure they won't. If not, one of them can take Kai's bed and Kai can sleep on the couch."

My eyes widened in horror because I definitely didn't want an Alpha going in my room and finding my stash of Yaoi manga and things I don't want my dad to ever find out that I have. I spun on my heel and ran upstairs to the guest bedroom first. I made sure the room was cleaned and put on fresh sheets and blankets before I rushed to my room and put away my manga and made sure nothing I didn't want to be seen was out of sight. I picked up my phone, kind of sad that I didn't have anybody really to talk to. I don't really have any friends because of what Kody had done. He took away all my friends and afterwards, nobody wanted me to be friends after that.

I sighed in annoyance, but as soon as I heard the doorbell ring, my heart practically skipped a beat. I put my phone on my charger but just as I was about to walk away, I heard my phone go off. I frowned, knowing that the only people who text me are mom and dad. I clicked on the message and saw it was from an unknown number.

From Unknown

I know you are mad at me, and I know you probably hate me. But I am going to do everything in my power to win you back. Whatever you need me to do, I will do it. I love you still, Kai, and I am sorry for what I said earlier. You are not a whore. You never have and never will be. I love you. - Kody

I growled in annoyance. Why the Hell can't he just leave me alone? I want nothing to do with him, but I have this feeling that he's just not going to stop. So I know the best thing to do is just ignore his messages. I put his number in so it wouldn't alert me if he messaged me and then I turned my phone off. Hopefully Kody gets the message and just leaves me alone. A guy can wish right?

Dad ~ ~ ~ Get down here. The Alphas are here in the living room.

I pushed down my feelings of excitement, cause I didn't want to seem too desperate. I took off my shoes, since I saw no need to wear them, and I headed out of my room and downstairs to see my parents and the Alphas sitting in the living room. Dad didn't look too pleased but he wasn't facing the Alphas. Mom was sitting in her chair, talking excitedly to the Alphas about whatever. And then to my horror, she pulled out my baby photo book.

"Mom!" I protested, the Alphas' attention now on me, "do not show them that. That is just embarrassing."

Mom laughed slightly as she opened up the baby book, completely ignoring what I had just asked of her, "come on, Kai, you were so cute as a baby. You shouldn't mind the Alphas seeing this. Besides, I'm sure they want to see it as well."

I locked eyes with Kit and Gio's, and even though my face was flushing with embarrassment, I pleaded with them silently to tell her no. Gio's expression remained passive, but the realization was clearly on Kit's face before he too masked it as well. Kit reached over and gently closed the baby book, smiling gently at mom.

"When Kai is comfortable with us seeing his baby book, then we will look at it." Kit murmured, softly, "does that sound okay?"

Mom seemed a little stunned but she nodded, "yeah, that's fine. Um, dinner should be done by now so I'm going to go and check on it."

Mom rose to her feet and headed into the kitchen. Dad had been just staring off into space but as soon as mom was gone, dad spun around and went and sat in her chair. He folded his arms across his chest, staring at the Alphas with a suspicious look on his face. Oh goddess, dad, please don't do something stupid.

"So, what do I owe the pleasure of having the Alphas here in my home?" Dad questioned them, but he didn't sound too hostile yet, "I'm sure that we didn't do anything."

Kit glanced at me slightly before he turned his attention back to dad, smiling slightly, "you know how Gio and I are unmated?"

Dad simply nodded.

"Well, nobody has ever been able to attract both Gio and I's attention, and most of the time, they only want us for our title and such." Kit explained, leaning forward and resting himself on his arms, "you might know by now that Gio and I want to share our mate because everything growing up felt right when we shared it unlike when we were separated."

Dad frowned, eyes narrowed to slits, "and what does that have to do with us?"

Kit looked like he was about to say something but he quickly looked at me, an unreadable expression on his face. He must've mind-linked Gio because Gio rose to his feet and didn't say a word. But when he got close enough to me that I could feel the heat emitting off of him and when his warm, large hand was placed on the small of my back, I felt like I could melt. Gio guided me out of the living room and up the stairs to my bedroom. Why is he leading me here? I opened my bedroom door and stepped inside before letting him through. I stood in the doorway as Gio made his way around my room, picking up things to examine them for a second before he would set them back down again.

"Um, what are you looking for?" I asked him curiously.

Gio looked at me for a split second and spoke for the first time in a deep, husky voice, "just looking, mate..."

I almost didn't catch that last part but as soon as it sunk it, my eyes widened.

Mate???
