Chapter 33: Never Quite Alone

They’d destroyed Bennett’s expertly decorated room. Clothes thrown willy-nilly around the floor, hanging from the curtain rod. A lamp overturned. The nightstand askew. The only items still intact were the bed and the two of them.

“Should I expect this same level of effort from here on out?” Stella asked. Feeling satisfied. She’d enjoyed their romp in the sack beyond belief.

She felt like a new woman.

She had finally agreed to be his mate for life. A bond that took the typical marriage vow of ‘until death do we part’ quite literally.

According to Dana, Bennett’s second in command. And someone Stella sometimes though of as friendly and helpful, other times scary, but couldn’t help but like. Who told her the only way out of this bond, once sealed, was a death match.
