Chapter Six

Carol's POV

I woke up at 9.00Am wondering why my mom didn't wake me for school, I took my phone and dropped a text to Selena wishing her happy birthday as I set the phone to charge, and went down stairs, my mom was making breakfast,

"mom, why didn't you wake me for school" I said sitting down on the counter,

"no good morning to your mother, always complaining." my mother said giving me a plate of sandwiches. "now I want you to pack your bags for about a week I am not sure how long we will be gone" my mother said as she put the dishes away.

"where are we going mom" I asked eating my sandwiches,

"remember the story I told you, long ago about our family history and what were meant to do" she said looking straight at me leaning on towards the sink, eating an apple.

"oh you mean about the 7 tribes and how we are meant to serve the future alpha blah, blah, blah" I said shaking my head side to side.

"don't make fun of it Carol" she said taking my plate and continuing "A new Alpha was marked today at 12.00 on her 15th birthday, know anyone that turned 15 today?" she said turning to me giving a look,

"wait you don't mean Selena, do you mom?" I asked as I was so confused, my mother nodded and smiled

"The Alwitz family reached out to me today saying that a new Alpha has risen and since your her best friend since kindergarten they want you to be her beta" my mother looked proud as she told, but I still had questions

"but mom, you told me that betas needs to be above 18 to take their place beside an Alpha"

she smiled and answered "times have changed now darling, like how a 15 year old can become an Alpha, so they thought they'll give you a chance to start small, that way you and Selena can train together, now get ready we'll be leaving in 10 minutes, they expect us be their by 12.00 noon today" as she went upstairs. I looked surprise and ran upstairs I packed everything literally everything I could possible fit in my bag and closed my bag, My mom came inside and took my bag as I got my phone and ran down, I locked the doors and got in the vehicle, and we took off.

"now it will be an 2 hour drive, so you if want to sleep you can, I'll wake you when we get close to the house" she said as I dosed off to sleep.

I slept for about 1 and half hours as I got up just when we were finishing the freeway

"oh great your up, fix your hair its a mess, we are getting really close" she said looking at her phone.

we stopped in a parking lot, "mom why did we stop" I asked looking around to see where we were,

"well, it says that we've reached our destination, I guess we wait till they come" she said rechecking her phone.

A few minutes later we were surrounded by 4 black range rovers, a man got down and walked straight to us,

"lock the doors, don't open unless I say so, got it" she said getting out of the vehicle. I nodded locking the door. I looked out as my mom stayed near the Vehicle.

"well, well, Zara long time no see, Derek is waiting for you, just follow my men" said a man who wore a jacket and sun glasses shaking my mom's hand, and got back into the vehicle.

"mom who was that?" I asked as she got in and started the engine,

"that is Marcus he was the beta for Alpha Derek, Selena's uncle" she said while we started going, we were now between the black range rovers, soon we put onto a Narrow road as we went, it turned to a large road it was like nothing I have ever seen and we approached the gate, there I saw a man standing and waiting with a women next to him holding a flower bouquet.

Selena's POV

I woke up around 11.30 looking at my phone as I saw Carol had texted me, I texted her back thanking her, I wanted to tell her so badly about what is going on but my uncle warned me about telling the living.

I got up and had a bath and came down as I saw my uncle with some of the men near the door, as I walked down they bowed their head and left I nodded as a reply,

"do they have to bow at me every time they see me" I said

"that's how they show you they respect you, what, you'll get used to it, your mother was treated like that but she came along" he said as he looked at me.

"where are they going" I said as I saw 4 vehicles leaving the house,

"just to collect some one special, why don't you go to the kitchen and have some waffles" he said pushing me to towards to the kitchen.

As I was having my breakfast I heard the vehicles coming and my uncle shouting for my mom, I left my plate and went to see who came, there stood Carol with a smile I ran towards her and hugged her with joy

"what are you doing here?" I asked as happy tears started to come out,

"well I can ask you the same thing Alpha" she said smiling I pulled backed asking

"wait how do you-" as I was interrupted

"my mom told me, and I am here to stay" she said hugging me.

"why don't we go inside and talk" my mom interrupted.

"wow your house is so dope girl" Carol said while looking all around. we went into the study and closed the door, it was just me, Carol, Zara, uncle Marcus, my mom and uncle. I sat on the couch as Carol explored the books.

"I need you two to sit down" my uncle said sitting down on a chair. "listen carefully, Carol comes from a long line of betas, which is why I have decided to make her your beta Selena. you both are young and new to this, Carol you will learn from Marcus while your with me and Selena" he looked at both of us as we sat there confused.

"I am sorry uncle Derek, but you need to speak more clearly, what's a beta?" I asked looking at my uncle then at Carol.

"Marcus comes from a long line of betas too, he was your mother's beta when she was Luna and then mine, he is who takes control when I am not able to come he takes my place and orders around the pack, like that Carol will learn from him, how to control a pack when it comes to extreme measures, or to take care of something when your away. understood!" he said looking at me and Carol, we both nodded.

"great, now me and Selena will go on a daily Patrol and you will follow got it Carol, lets go" my uncle commanded and me and Carol got up and followed him.

we went outside as we walked to the back, I saw little houses in a line, we went passed them, some of the people came out and bowed to me and talked about their daily problems and some just looked at me with disgust.

As we walked past more houses their were more people coming but they weren't grown ups, about 10 of them were my friends from school, they didn't know I was Derek's niece as they were surprised when they found out I was Alpha. I turned towards my uncle confidently and asked him slowly as we took a break,

"there are a lot of people I don't know here, so is it fine if I could have my 10 friends come back home more often, that way I could find out what happens here without me having to go everyday to their houses." my uncle smiled and nodded. I told all 10 of them to meet me tomorrow after breakfast for a meeting.

After our daily patrol Marcus came and took Carol as he had some important stuff to teach her, day 1 of being an Alpha went fine, I still wouldn't stop thinking about the Alpha King trying to hunt me down, one of these days I will confront my mom. I just don't know how am I going to go to school and take care of a entire pack.
