Makhel said no. How could he possibly say no? The nerve of him, after he flirted so blatantly with Anneliese.
At Anneliese’s feet, Cornelius made a worried whinny, hearing what was going on.
Patch’s wolf Tiva wanted to gnaw Makhel until he saw the error of his ways, but Patch sensibly told him to pipe down.
If only Makhel would let go of Anneliese’s d*mn hand already!
Even the splendor of their surroundings couldn’t lift Patch’s spirits right now. His nerves felt plucked like the harp that the orc harper played.
Anneliese looked deeply into Makhel’s eyes, and unconsciously moistened her pink lips with her tongue. “Prince Makhel, we may have been light on the formalities, but since you already received our request thanks to Alpha Jiro and Luna Garnet, you’ll please forgive our lapse.”
Makhel flashed his teeth in a smile. “I would forgive YOU anything, my lady. Prince Patch merely took me aback."
