Lilia POV
Dane's frown was moody and his energy even moodier. Lilia hesitated to approach him. Back and forth. Back and forth. He must have walked over the same grass ten times. In wolf form, it looked like patrolling. In human form, it screamed frustration.
"Dane."
He stalked toward her, his blue eyes stormy. "Why did we do it?"
"What?"
"Lilia, I'm in no mood to explain. You know perfectly well what."
She crossed her arms. "No. I can't read your mind, remember? I can only feel this perpetual dark cloud you've had since last night. Is it Patch? We haven't heard from him. I'm sure he's just excited by everything and he's with Anneliese …"
He threw up his hands. "Oh yes, that excuses everything, including being surrounded by humans and heading into untold dangers."
She wanted to remind him of his own adventure to find her, and not telling his brothers about his true plans to journey into human territory. "I know."
