Patch POV
Anneliese’s scream chilled his blood.
He had to get to her!
Patch spun around and shot past her circle of protection … which didn’t seem to have protected her. At least, not from the snake wrapping around her legs and shooting electricity through her! It was as thick as a big tree branch, with fangs longer than his and deadly intelligent black eyes. The metallic smell came off it in waves.
Dirge shifted and leapt to bite the thing. Patch snapped at the blue iridescent snake while Lindrat scorched it with a surprisingly long and powerful blast of flame for such a little thing, and Cornelius charged at it with his horn extended.
