Dirge POV
The look of shock on some of the council members’ faces was worth everyone doubting that he, Anneliese, and Patch could tackle something so important just because they weren’t a hundred years old with tons of spell-casting or shifter experience. Oh, and they heard Patch call Anneliese his sweetheart. Dirge approved, strangely enough.
He shifted into a wolf while the council cornered Patch and Anneliese to ask two hundred and one questions. He prowled around the chamber, poking his nose into different corners to see what he could find. Yuck. The witches used some kind of oil to clean the marble which made his eyes water and his nose run.
While Patch was busy, Dirge mind-linked with his brothers Dane and Kyon. “You will NEVER guess what just happened. I was hoping to talk to Jiro, too, but he’s not answering.”
“Probably in the middle of stopping poachers from stealing magical animals and livestock,” Dane said.
