Lilia’s childhood home had all the familiar smells Anneliese remembered. They were the smells of her childhood too. The lemon oil Ravyn used to clean the apartment, the weeping bittersweet tea she brewed, and the satisfying scent of dusty ancient books. The cozy sitting room and kitchen never seemed to change.
Anneliese felt Tulaska’s and Cyran’s energy in one of the bedrooms. “Did you put our friends in Lilia’s old room?” Anneliese asked.
Ravyn nodded with a little smile. “They seem quite comfortable there. The healers should be here any moment.”
Anneliese let out her breath in a whoosh and Patch and Dirge snickered, which earned them a patented Ravyn Rolfe frown.
“The girl has been driving herself so hard I can feel her energy flagging,” Ravyn said. “Even if Lilia hadn’t kept me informed, I could still feel it.”
