“Ruer! Ruer!”, I shouted and he answered the door with a grumpy look on his face. “This early in the mornin-,” he stopped midway and was shocked to see me.
“You’re alive?”, he asked and I felt offended. I smack his head, “He hasn’t even woken up yet, aren’t you supposed to ask if he is alive?”
“Oh, I completely forgot about the alpha,” I frowned at him, “I’m definitely gonna snitch on you some day.” He just shrugged, “I’m sure he’s gonna wake up today anyway,” and I just stared at him.
“What? Did his fated omega come here or something?”, I asked laughing and he just shrugged once again. “I don’t know, maybe it’s because he’s a dominant alpha?”, he remarked and I scoffed.
“You made sure to tell the other guys to not snitch on me right?”, I asked, fidgeting a little. He smirked, “I made sure to get it out of their heads.”
“Ruer, mom’s gonna kill you if he finds out,” I reminded him and he just shrugged. “Do you even care?”, I asked and he shrugged again, he’s getting into my nerves.
Ruer and I are siblings from the same mother but we were raised differently for his father was a high ranking official from the previous reign while my father was a commoner.
Ruer has the ability to erase memories, he was very reluctant to use this before because of a very particular incident that happened in our childhood. This incident was also the reason why Ruer was taken by his father, but we maintained contact the whole time.
To this day, I still have no idea, I was just taught by mother to prohibit Ruer from using his skill to anybody, I just really didn’t ask.
When me and Ruer were separated, we would write letters to each other and would occasionally call each other through a magical orb which uses mana.
As humans were wiped off, so were their inventions. Cellphones wouldn’t work and our species had to start from scratch all over again but this time, we had mana.
Mana can definitely be compared to the human’s energy, be it electrical, mechanical and many more. It’s such a pity we couldn’t even use what they call a computer. The energy humans created for themselves has basically disappeared along with them.
“By the way, have you eaten yet?”, Ruer asked and I immediately shook my head. “What you want?”, he asked and my eyes glimmered.
“Can you cook seasoned ribs today?”, I asked as my tummy started rumbling profusely. He just sighed, “You’re depleting our war resources.”
I just follow him happily while he walks to the kitchen. “Semi, you have bloody clothes, in case you forgot,” he pointed out and I look down to myself.
“Why are you only telling me now?”, I asked, frustrated, I ran to my room and immediately changed my clothes. Honestly, my wardrobe is kind of – no, not kind of. My wardrobe is boring.
We have been at war since the new alpha took over, meaning ever since I was appointed as a secretary, I was immediately thrown into battle. I’m not complaining though, it pays good and feeds me good food.
I usually only wear a tux, pretty comfortable if you ask me, in comparison to what my mother made me wear when I was younger. She told me as a – no, I’m not that anymore, I stopped wearing those when I decided I will abandon my old identity.
My mother, as an omega, was hidden by Ruer’s father into a much less populated pack and much more peaceful than Ashyx. Me and Ruer chose to stay because our fathers also stayed.
Although my father was taken by Denera as a prisoner of war, I had no choice but to be kept quiet. The alpha hates overly emotional beings, that was how he described omegas.
My father was a great man, he had lesser opportunities considering the fact he was a commoner. He worked as a painter, he met my mother when he was working in commissions.
One day, he asked me if I’d want my father to come back to Ashyx and I just shrugged it off as my father being insignificant in comparison to what we are fighting for. He seemed content with my answer at that time.
I have gotten used to pretending, to the point before I can even bat an eye, I’d be able to formulate a lie at the top of my head. I treat this invaluable talent a treasure, especially when I’m facing the alpha 24 hours in one day.
After I got changed, I scurried down the halls towards the kitchen. I wouldn’t want to be robbed off of my share of food.
By the time I got to the kitchen, I saw 3 of my comrades, all looking very tired. I sat down beside Eric, he was the one who shouted that the alpha was losing too much blood.
“Where’s the others?”, I asked and he immediately shot up his eyes, “Huh?” I look at him and he struggles to stay awake, “W-well, I think they’re in alpha’s room.”
I nodded, fair enough, they would want to check the condition of the alpha. Not to mention how early it is by the way, it is currently 3 AM in the morning. Basically, only 4 hours has passed since the assassination.
“Hey Semir,” Eric called out to me and I frowned, “For the nth time, it’s Semi.” He blatantly ignored me as he dozed off a little more before continuing the conversation.
He look at me straight in the eye, with wide eyes, forcing them open. “Do you think the alpha could wake up today? I mean, Denera’s pushing their troops at the Guilore Tower.”
“That’s impossi-“, I was stopped by a shout from the alpha’s room, “The alpha has woken up!”Ruer went out of his way from the kitchen to smirk at me, “See? Told ya.”
