Chapter 4

Maya looked away and tried struggling some more but it was a waste of time. Eric grew much closer till she felt his warm breath smothering her face.

His closeness was making things worse. All she could perceive was his intoxicating scent which was filling her nostrils and driving her wolf crazy.

She didn't care about the past but instead craved for more of his touch. Maya looked away to avoid doing anything ridiculous because it wasn't just her wolf feeling that way.

It was shocking how all the hate and anger she had earlier had melted away like it never existed. All she had was this sick yearning for him.

"W-What do you want from me?" She stuttered, her breath was feverish and her voice shaky. "Why were you even in the meeting?"

Maya closed her eyes and clutched her bag more tightly as she felt his soft lips close to her earlobe.

"I want you back" Eric replied with his voice more sensual than ever.

Her eyes snapped open at his words, he wanted her back after rejecting and humiliating her in front of his lover. Maya couldn't believe that she had foolishly forgotten how he sent a person to kill her.

As soon as those memories came to her mind, the lustful craving she had, vanished. It was replaced with anger.

"You are such a bastard! After all you did to me, you think that I would return to you," Maya spat and suddenly felt Eric's hands loosening around hers.

"I will never return to you!" She yelled making more emphasis on 'Never'

She mustered all the strength she could gather and pushed him away. Luckily they had reached the floor of her office and she pressed the button desperately.

It opened and she rushed out, looking to check if Eric was following but luckily he wasn't.

Hastily, Maya brought out the key to her office and opened the door with shaky hands. She slammed the door shut and rested her head on it.

Her back slowly slipped downwards on the door and her butt landed on the floor. She was sucking in deep breaths to regulate her breathing that had been hitching.

She swallowed a hard lump in her throat and slowly stood to her feet. She walked waveringly to the couch and slumped on it.

She never expected to see him and for him to want me back. What about Eunice?

The thought of being with him was supposed to make Maya's stomach churn but instead, she was feeling a connection with him. He might have rejected her but she hadn't accepted his rejection and that was why her wolf desired for him.

It didn't matter because she would never love him back especially when she was presently in a relationship. The business tycoon who saved her was sweet and everything she needed in a man.

He was always loving and warm toward her, he never loathed her when people hurt her and he did all he could to protect her.

Maya couldn't help falling for him, therefore, they began a relationship last year.

Johnny was everything, a woman would love and desire in a man. He was handsome, humble, and faithful, unlike Eric who was handsome for nothing.

Eric was brutish and only pretended to love Maya because he wanted to sleep with her. She wouldn't allow such a person to jeopardize her relationship.

Maya sighed and decided to only think of Johnny. She gently closed her eyes and attempted to take a nap to calm her mind but her phone suddenly rang.

She flinched a bit at the sound of her ringing tone.

"Fuck, I should change this ringing tone!" Maya cursed and grabbed her bag.

She ransacked it and brought out her phone, she stared at the screen and it had Johnny's name on it and in a bracket 'My love'

A smile spread on her lips and she answered the call.

'Hello, love!' He said with that baritone and attractive voice of his.

'Hi, handsome' Maya said over the phone and smiled more broadly.

Johnny was handsome and one of the most eligible bachelors in the country but although he wasn't as handsome as Eric.

That thought came to Maya's mind but she quickly waved it off.

"I called to remind you about our date tonight," Johnny said.

Maya gasped and placed her palm on her forehead, she had forgotten about the date night.

"Thanks for reminding me, I nearly forgot. I will make sure to get ready for you," Maya said.

"Look sexy." He said and Maya knew that he was smiling after that. 'My chauffeur will pick you up."

'But…' she objected.

'No buts or objections; I love you' He interrupted her.

'I love you too,' Maya replied and he hung up.

She placed her phone on her lips and giggled.

Immediately, she resumed work and interacted with some investors. After work was done she left the office and went straight to the saloon.

She had to look good for her man.

Maya wanted to shop for a dress first but she changed her mind and went to the spa first, then after her driver drove me to a saloon where her hair was done and curly. She had straight hair but decided to change her style.

After going to the saloon, Maya went back home and received the Chanel dress that she ordered on her way back home, It was a limited edition.

It was one of the most beautiful red dresses she had seen, absolutely perfect for a date night.

Maya had no issues doing her makeup because she didn't like people touching her face.

After getting ready, she chose the perfect shoes and bag that fit her outfit. Looking in the mirror, she was pleased by her outlook.

"I hope Johnny likes this," she smiled and made different poses in front of the mirror.

With a smile on her face, Maya stepped out of the house and Johnny's chauffeur came right on time.

"Good evening, Ma'am!" his chauffeur greeted as he got out of the car. He opened the door and she entered.

"Evening" Maya beamed.

As they got to the location Johnny was waiting for her, Maya thought it was going to be a restaurant but to her disbelief, we were having our date on the beach. It wasn't a private island but a public one.

She walked on the sand and smiled while looking around, there was so much liveliness that her heart thumped at seeing such happiness around her.

The driver escorted her to the particular spot that looked empty, there was no one in that part and there was a restaurant on the other side.

Maya thought they were going to the restaurant till her eyes beheld a trail of candles by her sides, it made her blush.

"You can go from here, Ma'am," the chauffeur said.

"Yes, thank you." Maya beamed and walked in between the candles till she reached where Johnny was.

He had set up a table for dinner and Maya was extremely impressed, this was their first date night that had more charm attached to it.

It wasn't basic but rather made her feel special.

He stood up at the sight of her, he was looking handsome even from a distance.

Maya sucked on her bottom lip and sauntered to him.

"Johnny" she called as she reached him.

"You look stunning," he complimented and the redness on Maya's cheeks deepened.

She giggled and complimented; "And you are more alluring tonight, the right words are immensely handsome."

Johnny laughed and pressed his lips gently against hers. It was a gentle kiss that felt like heaven, soft and tender.

He parted the kiss and offered her a seat, she sat down and he returned to his seat.

"You didn't have to plan all this for me, it's too much for one night," she said, not complaining about it but a bit stunned.

Johnny shook his head in disapproval and uttered; "I should do this every day for you, You deserve much more."

Maya felt flattered by his words.

A waiter came almost immediately and served the expensive red wine and her favorite meal.

This was the reason why she couldn't help falling for him.

Johnny always said and did the most loving things. His good nature made him more irresistible.

"You shouldn't have gone through all this stress, a simple dinner would have done the trick" She pursed her lips.

He reached for her hand and kissed her knuckles.

"I would do anything for you and instead of talking too much, why don't we dig into this delicious food" He suggested and chuckled.

Maya laughed along with him and they proceeded to eat dinner. After eating, they clinked their glasses and sipped from the red wine.

Throughout their dinner, Johnny never stopped complimenting her and saying how much he loved her. He would steal kisses from her and even while eating, he fed her.

"Cheers,'' Maya chuckled. It was the third time they clinked their glasses.

She felt someone staring at them from her back but as she tried looking. She suddenly heard fireworks.

She looked up at the sky and the fireworks came together and she read it.

WILL YOU MARRY ME.

Maya's eyes widened and her attention turned to Johnny who was already kneeling in front of her.

"Maya, I love you and would like to spend my eternity with you. Will you be mine?" He asked and brought out a beautiful diamond ring.

Her hand flew to her mouth in surprise. She thought of accepting and Eric came to her mind but she shook the thought off.

"Yes, I will marry you," Maya giggled and stretched her hand out. He immediately wore the ring on her finger and kissed her lips passionately.

Johnny dropped Maya off instead of his chauffeur.

They had a goodnight kiss and he left.

She reached her house and opened the door with the key. Passwords weren't a thing. She walked into the sitting room with a happy smile on her lips. She had never been this excited in her entire life.

She pulled off her shoes and dropped her bag carelessly on the floor. She reached for the lights and switched them on.

The moment she looked forward, her eyes widened to see Eric.

"What the fuck are you doing here?!" Maya shrieked and her mouth remained agape.

She was about to run out when he rushed to her and with great speed, pushed her to the couch and pinned her to it.

"Ah!," she yelped and almost puked because he reeked of alcohol.

"I will never allow you to get married to him, you are mine alone!" Eric growled with possessiveness evident in his voice as he stared lustfully at her.
