The Aeternus Universe

The year of humanity is 2415, and DDVR and VRMMORPG's are commonplace now. It's extremely hard for a new game to come out and be successful. The greats of these genres have ruled for a few centuries now. A new game is releasing soon, and it has promise to be one of those. The Aeternus Universe. A Virtual Reality game has what you would expect from a game in this genre. However, some things make it special. One of those being the exploration and adventure through galaxies and The Aeternus Universe. Other games in this genre take it to fantasy and medieval times. This is set in a universe where there are super advanced technologies, spaceships, and Mecha suits—lost Alien tech ready to be found and claimed. Some of these all come together. The story starts 2 days before the release of the game, and with our protagonist—a 20-year-old male by the name of Scott Autumn. He is one of the few jumping from the current major game to this one. Seeing its potential for greatness and chance to be one of the biggest games on the market.

{Book 1 has been completed.}

I close the laptop since there aren't any names in the file that can point me to a person or group of people. I sigh as I stand up and bring the laptop inside with me. There are many things on my plate and so little time to do them all.

For now, I'll let my worms do some more digging. After a couple more days, I'll see if anything else has been discovered or if I've gained access to something new.

I set the laptop on the couch as I walk by, making my way towards my bedroom. As I enter, I hear the shower running, and I see Jessica's clothes on the ground.

She has her own room and her own bathroom, but for some reason. She prefers to be in my room and use my bathroom. It's something that women do, and men do too. I just didn't peg Jess for being the type to move into my room sneakily.

You learn something new every day, and that applies to me especially. I'm constantly learning and growing my knowledge pool, and it's not something I can completely turn off.

I'm a Primordium. After all, I'm the last of the most intelligent and advanced alien race in The Aeternus Universe.

I make my way over to my gaming pod, and I get in. The latch slowly closes, and the headgear comes down from above my head and puts me to sleep. I load into the apartments, and I stretch my body and release a groan.

There is still a lot of time till Jessica's starship parts get here. So that means I should burn some time doing something, and while there are things for me to do.

They're all extremely boring to me. When you have a mind like mine, everything is easy. I want a mental challenge, something that'll be entertaining.

Durado must still be working on Ziller, but according to my calculations, Ziller has long been broken and is now dead.

Durado is my mentor, and that means I have special privileges being his apprentice. Before I can make my way towards the apartment's exit, the holo terminal on the table in front of the couch begins to go off.

I walk over to it, and I press a button to accept the holo call. Suddenly, a familiar face and an unfamiliar face pop up. One of them is the Aegis representative I spoke to and made a deal with. Zenera smiles at me from the other side.

I'm guessing they need some help on another project, something they assume I'll fix for them. "It's nice to see you again, Scott. The man next to me is our lead designer and head of technological departments. His name is Morrel Neuor. He has some questions for you." I sigh and silently curse that I helped them with their superweapon in the first place.

Now, whenever they have a problem they can't solve, they'll come to me. I look at Mr. Neuor, and he's more alien-like than a humanoid. He has protruding eyes and rough-looking skin.

He clears his throat, getting ready to talk, and I already know that I'm not going to like this. "We're in the middle of constructing the superweapon, but we're having a hard time figuring out some of the design instructions. To put it plainly, it's too complicated. Some of the tech and modifications have never been combined before. Not to mention the extensive changes you made without consulting our supplies for this proj-!" Suddenly the hologram mutes and Zenera begins chewing out Mr. Neuor. I know why too.

It's not my job to figure all that out. I'm not meant for that grunt work. Suddenly, the hologram unmutes, and Mr. Neuor is no longer in the frame. "I'm terribly sorry to have bothered you about this, Scott. Had I known that this was a supply and logistics problem, I wouldn't have called you. I formally apologize on behalf of Aegis for wasting your time with incompetent people not knowing how to construct your brilliant designs." I've never had someone apologize so profusely for anything in my life, let alone wasting my time.

Instead of responding, I shut off the terminal. I might as well sell the fact I'm displeased. Maybe they won't bother me with something like that again.
