Giving A Chance

Zander:

"So you stay in this mess all the time?",I tried to start a conversation

"No no no, you see today I had a day off after weeks, like a day off on a weekday and just before lunch I realised that I didn't even have anything to cook except for things required for breakfast so that explains the mess in the kitchen and I didn't plan on leaving my bed whole day so that cause the havoc in the rest of the house."

"What do you do on weekends?"

"Zander's place. You see he wasn't very happy about me moving out but then you got to let the bird out someday."

"And what do we do while the pizza arrives? Like what do you generally do when you're at home though I get it it's rare but still"

"Umm as you see there is no television and neither am I a fan of those shows but I watch some of them for refreshment on my mobile and I read books Like I love reading.If you want I can show you my book collection?"

"So you are kind of those intellectuals who believe more in books and stories than those represented on the screen"

"Yes you can say ",she beamed

"May we proceed to your book collection?"I said pulling my arms out

"So you see this is the living area and kitchen and the books are kept in the other room along with my bed and desk."She said as she leads me into a small cozy room.

It had a window at one corner with a bed pressed onto the beam and a dream catcher hanging on the window. On the other wall was her bookshelf with a lot of fiction books and on the opposite wall was a picture of Zander, her and Beth.

Fairy lights were hung on the window and the other side of the room had a small light blue desk and coordinated chair with a lucky bamboo standing on the desk and a unicorn showpiece decoded the desk.

The room was simple and homely. Another door was there in the bedroom which I supposed was her dressing and washroom.

"Come on here", she said in a rather excited voice

"So you see as I said I wasn't brought up here but I did make sure of filling up my childhood favourite", she said while pointing to a collection of famous five, wimpy kid, and the whole series of harry potter with a small lobby figure decorated in front of the books."And then I had a younger sister how forced me to go to watch Princess Diaries with her and from that day I started reading princess diaries" she said pointing to the series and then my eyes wander to a section of the shelf with a banner in front of it. The banner resembled the House Stark's Dire-wolf and behind it was the whole series of the Game of Thrones.

"I don't believe this", I said with my jaw-dropping," Have you read them all"

"Yes I have and they are much better than the show", she said confidently.

And then we discussed Game of Thrones, its ending and what should and shouldn't have happened and minutes passed by and soon the bell rung.

It was pizza.

"Pizzzzzaaaa" excitement beamed in her eyes as she made her way to the dancing towards the door and I walked closely behind her and she collected the pizza and came back in to collect her wallet.

"My treat," I said making my way to the door.

Once I came back I saw her sitting with a pout staring at the pizzas.

"Hey, everything ok?"

"I could have paid," she said with a frown on her face

"Next time, promise," I said chuckling at her childish behaviour as she flashed a smile on her face and pulled a pizza box to herself and patted the place beside her, "Come have a sit fast or else I won't share my pepperoni," she said giggling at me.

" So where are you from?", I asked pulling a slice out of the pizza.

Amber:

" So where are you from?"

This question struck me like a thunderbolt, it paralysed me, I couldn't take the words out of my throat. I started breathing heavily as I panicked.

Zach noticing my tensed face went to the kitchen and grab a bottle of water, "Hey its ok if you are not comfortable to share" he said passing the bottle and giving a gentle pat on my shoulder.

After a few gulps of water and more than a few long breaths, I was able to control my emotions. I looked up at Zach he had guilt in his eyes and looked at me with teary eyes.

"Hey I am sorry, I didn't know the question would affect you this way I didn't want to hurt you.", he looked at his feet. He looked like a 10 year old apologising for his mistakes.

"Its ok Zach. You weren't supposed to know about my reaction and I think its high time I start coping with questions like this. It wasn't your fault", I said smiling at him.

"Pizza?" he said raising a brow

"Come on let's dig in before I finish it all," I said chuckling at him

He came and sat beside me and took up his unfinished pizza piece and I saw a look of disappointment on his face.

Suddenly a thought crossed my mind,

'At least give him a chance, he won't hurt you'

This is what Zander said and I trust him and he trusts Zach maybe I could at least try.

I have observed him over days I get it its not just me who is attracted to him its a mutual feeling and he is putting his best foot forward. Maybe now even I should take a step.

"Zach"

He looked up from his pizza with his emerald eyes, "See there is a lot I have been through, and its only Zander who knows the whole story. Even Beth doesn't know the whole thing- "

I was cut off by him saying, "It's ok. I get it we have just met but I like you a lot and I understand I don't want to rush things. I am fine with you not opening up to me all at once.."

"Hey hey hey stop! First I don't like people cutting me when I talk and second, you are not rushing anything so please stop coming to conclusions. And third I like you too",

I said smiling sheepishly at him.
