Chapter 18

After the breakfast, the Grade Fives fell asleep in hammocks that had been set up for those who had lost houses. They slept well and all dreamt of the portal. They woke up that evening, ready to go. They were going to miss Sparklimmar very much, but were exited to go home. They gathered all their stuff and headed to the portal, which was in the outskirts of the village. Tyla was there, waiting. The portal had a bright green entrance, wide enough for two at a time.

"Thanks guys," said Tyla, "for all the help you've been. Goodbye now and don't forget to visit!" "Bye Tyla!" they all chanted.

Mrs. Jackson told them girls first, and they all went through the portal in pairs. Ms. Laurence and Mrs. Jackson walked up to Tyla when the girls had all gone. "Thank you for all you've done for us, Tyla." Said Mrs. Jackson as Ms. Laurence held out a bouquet of flowers they had both picked. The moment was disturbed when the line of boys had fallen over like dominoes. They all stared at Owen, because he was at the back, but when the portal made the sound it had made when something goes through, they knew it was not Owen's fault. The rest of them entered the portal and last were the two teachers. They all swirled through a black void and after a flash of light; the Grade Fives were sitting in their classroom. They all cheered. They were home!

Connor Jordaan, a grade four boy, was walking back from the bathroom when he saw the light from the Grade Five classroom. He looked through the window and then rushed to Mr. Jackson's office. "Sir," he panted, "the Grade Fives are back." Connor followed the exited headmaster back to the classroom block. Mr. Jackson ran into the Grade Five class and welcomed them back, saying they all were missed. He flung his arms around Mrs. Jackson. "How long were we gone?" asked Mrs. Jackson. "Three weeks." Mr. Jackson replied, "And there are thirty minutes until the end of school. You can all go home!"

Their parents, who were told the stories of the magic and the war, welcomed the kids back dearly. It was amazing to be home, and although most of them thought it was a dream the next day, some were still excited for the next visit to Sparklimmar World.
