Chapter 14

Another blast came from the castle. Cracks appeared in the highest tower. Hayden started running down the corridor. Rhys looked at the castle, and saw Hayden through an open window. A wall blasted down. Hayden sent strong water bubbles flying throughout the castle, trying to keep it sturdy. A pillar started to fall and he banged up against it. Because he was a sprite, he was stronger than usual, but not strong enough to keep the castle up. The roof started falling in. Rhys shot vines into the castle, grabbed Hayden and pulled him out just as the castle collapsed, killing all the flamies within. Then, out of nowhere, a flamy flew straight at Rhys. He shot vines at the flamy, but it was too quick. He was walking backwards and then found himself standing on the edge of a dock into the lake. He shot another vine at the flamy. It flew towards him with great force. Next thing Rhys found himself in the water. He swam up to the surface and shot at the flamy again. The flamy dodged, flew over Rhys, and into the water behind him. Rhys cheered. The queen had said that flamies could not go in water. Then something bit his foot. He looked down to see a bright blue flamy. He was being dragged underwater. Chloe saw what happened from near the shore, and so did Zangi, who was fighting a flamy next to the lake. He dived in and followed Chloe towards Rhys. Rhys tried shooting vines, but he couldn't do it underwater. He was running out of breath. His eyes closed as death flew to take him. "Rhys!" called Chloe. Rhys opened his eyes to see a mermaid and someone else coming towards him. He knew they were trustable, so he reached out his hands. Chloe and Zangi each grabbed one. They tried to pull, but the flamy was to strong and kept dragging the elf further down. Chloe swallowed a huge gulp of water then her hands started bubbling. A massive air bubble formed and Chloe threw it towards the flamy. The flamy lost its grip on Rhys' foot, and flung backwards. The kids swam back up to the surface. "What was that?" gasped Zangi, "I thought flamies couldn't go in water?"

"It's an aqua-flamy," said a young fairy on the docks. "Did the queen not tell you about them?" Before he got an answer, he fluttered away, shooting arrows at a massive flamy.
