Chapter 13

A siren sounded through the castle. Then a loud shout came from the bottom of each of the two towers. Tyla and the queen started running to each door, getting everyone up. They told everyone to gather all their valuables. "Now, put all your things in this crate," said Queen Crystalia, once every one was downstairs and dressed. "Tyla's going to take them to the village, which is the safest part in Sparklimmar. By the time she gets back, the shield charm around the kingdom will have broken."

"Wait, why is the village safe? Why not the castle?" queried Rhys.

"The village," explained the queen, "was the first settlement in Sparklimmar, and back then, there was a witch of great power, and she created a charm to protect the village from any harm. But then, before she could tell anyone how to cast it, she died."

Tyla left with the crate. Fire Monkey was with her, shivering in fear. Another big blast came. Queen Crystalia looked out a nearby window. The forest was completely burned down and now the flamies were all banging up against the protection bubble around the kingdom. The Choconin army, besides the Grade Five members, were standing at the base, arrows ready. "Grab your weapons!" shouted the queen. Then the sound of glass shattering echoed through the castle. It was like large droplets of rain, as the bubble was destroyed. There were flamies flying through any open window and door they could find. Immediately, Gio had managed to shoot one in the chest with an arrow. The flamy exploded and ashes fell to the floor. "Good aim!" said Tyla, who had just come back. "Choconins, follow me, others, fight for your lives!"

The battle had begun. Flamies were everywhere. There was a blast of red. Cuwien dodged it and the spell hit a nearby statue of Tyla, sending it out of the window and down into the battle below.

The Grade Fives spread out across the kingdom. The sound of a horse came from somewhere as a unicorn was shot at by a killing curse. Jemuel took a glance, and then ducked as a purple flame was flying at him. He shot at the flamy it came from, hitting it in the chest.

Rana picked up the hurt unicorn, but dropped when the smell of burning wood was blowing up at her face. She looked down to see that her legs were burning. She screamed. Rais heard her from the river, and shouted – "Rana, Quick! GET IN THE WATER!" The tree ran towards him and there was an almighty splash, drowning many flamies, as Rana leapt into the water.
