Chapter 24: Contact within the Mountain!

'Thinking'

"Talking"

- Mount Weather | Secret Operating Room | The Ground -

- 3rd Person -

"Please. Stop. She's too weak." Monty pleaded as Dr. Tsing made a small incision with a scalpel on Harpers waist.

"Don't. Not again." Harper begged as a different doctor handed Dr. Tsing a small drill.

"No! NO!" Monty screamed desperately as Dr. Tsing activated the drill and moved to use the drill to drill into Harpers bone.

*HISS*

The large bunker like door opened and in walked President Wallce, Jasper, as well as 3 armed guards.

"Mr. President." Dr. Tsing said in shock.

"Put that down and get away from that girl. Now!" President Wallace yelled angrily.

"Jasper!" Monty shouted in relief.

"Monty!" Jasper replied with relief as well.

"Release him!" The President shouted towards the other doctor.

The doctor quickly unlocked the cage and Monty stumbled out as Jasper tried his best to help his best friend stand.

"I was so worried." Jasper whispers to Monty, hugging him.

"The ground is our birthright. You can't keep us from that." Dr. Tsing told Wallace.

"Watch me. Lock her up." Wallace replied.

One of the guards walked over and grabbed Dr. Tsing by the arm and pulled her off.

"You'll regret this!" she yelled as she was being escorted away.

"I don't think I will. Go back to the dorm and tell your friends to pack their things. You're going home." Wallace tells Monty and Jasper as they and one of the guards lift Harper off the table.

"Thank you, sir." Jasper replies nodding towards Wallace.

"Take me to my son." Wallace orders the head guard.

"Yes, sir."

----------

President Wallace entered the monitoring room with 5 of his presidential guard at his back. Inside the room were 3 security detail officers and his son, Cage.

"Everything okay, dad?" Cage asked, seeing the stern and disgruntled face of his father.

"Tell me Dr. Tsing was working alone."

"I can't do that. We've accomplished great things-..."

"You've accomplished nothing. You're a stain on our legacy."

"Our legacy? We've been bleeding people to stay alive for generations. That's our legacy. What we've done is going to get us out of this prison. How could you not want that for us?" Cage asked.

"You betrayed me."

"You betrayed us all. Guards take my father and place him into quarantine." Cage ordered the guards that stood behind his father.

The guards at first looked confused, whose orders do they follow? Wallace was still their president, right? Two of the guards didn't take long to think on this and soon moved in and grabbed the president by the arms.

Wallace looked shocked, confused, and betrayed.

"I never wanted it like this. All I wanted was to give you your dream. I'm sorry." Cage said as the guards began to pull Wallace out of the monitoring room.

After they had gone down a few of Mount Weathers corridors and were far enough away from any guard posts the three men walked out in front of the two escorting Wallace and blocked their path.

"Hey, what do you guys think you're doing? President Cage gave us an order." the head of the guard asked.

"Cage isn't our president."

The guard in the middle of the three said, and before they could react the three all pulled their sidearms out of their holsters and aimed them at the two traitors.

"Let go of the president, now."

The head guard was in shock. Never had any of his guards betrayed him, ever.

However, the head guard was too caught up in his own thoughts that he didn't even realize that the three men had all gotten within striking distance of him. Also, the other guard that was escorting Wallace had already stepped away and was being held at gun point as he faced against the wall.

*SMACK*

The head guard's skull was knocked back as the butt of one of the three guard's pistols smacked against the head guard's nose, sending him to the ground, knocked out cold.

"Let's go Mr. President, we'll get you someplace safe."

"Listen up. There's gonna be questions but there's no time. We're getting out of here, so pack your stuff." Jasper said after gathering everyone together.

"Bullshit, they're just letting us go?" Miller asked, not convinced.

"Yes. Right now, before they change their minds."

"What the hell is going on?" A random girl asked.

"They lied to us about everything. Clarke, the Ark. The Ark is on the ground and we're not safe here." Monty says causing most of the group to look at each other with concern. "Now do what he says."

"Sorry about that but that won't be happening." A voice says over the dorm room speakers.

*BEEP!*

*BEEP!*

*BEEP!*

Several alarms started going off as the doors to the dorms suddenly slammed shut, and a squad of 6 Mount Weather security detail men arrived outside the door with stun batons and guns in hand.

'What the hell is going on! Wait... Bellamy!' Jasper thought shocked as he looked out the small, squared windows of the dorm room doors, and saw Bellamy and Maya standing and talking out in the wall just past the guards before wandering off down another hallway.

'Sorry, Jasper, but I have to get to that radio first and contact Arthur.' Bellamy thought as he watched Jaspers' shocked expression through the window.

- Alpha Station | The Ground -

- Arthur Pendragon -

After Lincoln had returned, he informed us that Bellamy was able to get in and that he should contact us soon. That was five hours ago and to be frank I'm getting slightly worried.

To distract me Finn had dragged me over to help him with training new Ranger recruits, the distraction worked as over the course of the training I was able to relax somewhat and I'm thankful for that.

I don't know what happened to him on that mountain, or if maybe Murphy had something to do with it, but Finn was different.

He was darker, he rarely spent any time with Raven instead choosing to focus on training the new squad of Rangers and any guards that were lacking in skill. I've also found him a few times just cleaning his weapon at the crack of dawn. Sometimes it's his rifle, sometimes it's the knife that I gave him.

A lot of people saw this as a problem, Raven, Clarke, and Octavia of course. They had Abby do a mental checkup on him just in case. However, I saw an opportunity, an opportunity to create a weapon.

I began by simply talking to Finn more, taking 10 to 20 minutes out of my day just to have a one-on-one conversation with him. Slowly over time I began sparring with him and would sometimes demonstrate certain tactics and maneuvers in front of the new recruits.

Finally, I was able to have him come around and show me what he saw inside Mount Weather. It was a picture, a few actually. Of a grounder village being burned to the ground and Mountain men and reapers working together to capture the adult grounders. Any children that were there were fed to the reapers. It was disgusting.

"Those bastards deserve to die, Arthur. All of them." he said, and I find it hard to disagree.

That was a few days ago, and since then our trust has continued to grow and currently, I was designing a weapon that would be suitable for him and a new unit I had in mind.

After I had finished with the designs a grounder envoy came by and informed us that the commander is leading an army of one-thousand men this way and a greeting party will arrive shortly within the next 2 to 3 days.

I had immediately doubled both the hunting and gathering efforts, that way we would be able to feed this welcoming party without having to dip into our reserve food storage.

And of course, not an hour later Bellamy had finally contacted us.

----------

"Hey, Raven how's the tone generator going?" I asked her as Clarke, and I walked into the mechanic's workshop.

"Well, I've been able to figure out what it's made of but it's difficult to actually create it. The one Lincoln brought back this afternoon was cracked and wouldn't work properly, it would either create the wrong sound or no sound at all."

That's when we heard static, and both looked towards the radio.

"Arkadia, this is Mount Weather. Anyone read me?"

"Holy shit." Raven muttered.

"Arkadia, this is Mount Weather. Does anyone read me?"

"Bellamy, this is Arthur. Is that you?" I asked, grabbing hold of the radio.

"Arthur? Man am I glad to hear your voice."

"Why what's happened?" Clarke asked from over my shoulder.

"They've locked everyone inside the dorm and have a squad of guys with guns and stun batons posted outside the door. Not only that but there's been a few firefights on some of the upper security levels."

"What do you mean by firefights?" I asked.

"Apparently the President's son, Cage took control over Mount Weather when his father refused to make our people lab rats. Now, he and his father are fighting over control."

"How do you think the numbers add up?" Raven asked.

"Hard to tell, but if I had to take a guess. Wallace's forces would be 20-30% of the Mount Weather armed forces compared to Cage's 70-80%. If I were to guess Wallace will be found and captured within the next few days if not less."

"Are all of our people alive?" Clarke asked.

"I think so. For now. It's hard to tell due to the amount of security down here. Cage is making sure that his father and his men aren't able to take a single step down here. And Maya says they're already using their blood. Things are gonna get ugly in here real fast."

"Maya?" Raven asked.

"She's a friend to Jasper." Clarke answered.

"She helped me escape. If not for her, I'd be dead. And Arthur, Clarke, there are kids in here. We need a plan that doesn't kill everyone. Please tell me we have one."

"I understand, but we can't do anything until you disable the acid fog. Raven will help and walk you through it." I told him.

"Got it. What else?"

"Trojan horse the fuckers. Free as many grounder prisoners as you can, they won't even realize what's coming."

"Good plan... Arthur, if I'm gonna pull this off, I need some time. You think you'll be able to buy me some. It won't be long until they realize that I don't belong here. If that happens-..."

"That won't happen. We'll make sure of it." Clarke spoke.

"Bellamy, you've done a good job. Keep doing it."

"Sir, all I've done is not get killed."

"Good. You're up." I say handing over the radio to Raven.

"What are you gonna do?" Raven asked as Clarke, and I began to walk away.

"What I do best." I respond walking out.

--------------------------------------------------------------

- Near the Reaper tunnels | The Ground -

"Hoz op! Zo hon Red-de dan, den zo'n choj op!" A leader of a band of Reapers shouted as they escorted a group of captured grounders. (Hurry up! We get the Red, then we eat!)

"Now!" I yell.

The 10-man Ranger team under my leadership and Finn all stand and begin firing down at the Reapers that we're walking by a river bank. Within a few seconds the 8-man Reaper band were dead, and the grounder captives were unharmed.

"Set them free, then we'll move on." I say to Finn.

He hops down into the small bank with one of the Rangers and begins to set 5 captives free.

"How many Reapers have we killed today Seargent?" I asked.

"Umm...maybe 20, sir."

"Good. We'll keep hunting for an hour or two and then we'll head back."

"Yes, sir."

"Arthur!" I heard Finn shout.

I looked down into the bank and saw that Finn was pointing at something in the distance. I looked where he was pointing and saw the deadly green acid fog heading our way.

"Quick everyone open your packs and put up your tents! The acid fog is coming!"

"Yes, sir!" they shouted as they began taking off their packs and pulling out their tents.

"We've been locked up for hours. If it was Bellamy-..." Miller was saying before Jasper interrupted him.

"It was Bellamy. I'm telling you, he's here."

"It doesn't make any sense." Monty said.

"I know what I saw." Jasper continued.

*BEEP!*

*BEEP!*

*BEEP!*

"God, not again." Harper said as a squad of 9 guards in riot gear, and Dr. Tsing entered through the now open and previously locked doors.

"Back! Get back!" One of the guards yelled.

Two of the guards grabbed Harper by the arms and began to pull her towards the doctor.

"No, no!" Harper cried.

"Hey, hey, get off her!" Jasper shouted.

"No, not her. She needs more time to recover. This one." Dr. Tsing told the guards while pointing to a different person, a male with shaggy blonde hair and brown eyes.

"Wait, wait! Please!" the man yelled desperately.

"Stop! You can't keep doing this to us! President Wallace said we could go." Jasper said to Dr. Tsing with his head held high.

"That President Wallace is no longer in command. He had to step down for-..."

*BANG!*

*BANG!*

*BANG!*

"Rebels are on Level 5! Rebels are on Level 5!" They heard some of the guard's shout from outside the dorms.

"Shit! Grab him and bring him with us, let's go!" Dr. Tsing yelled as she quickly made her way out of the dorms and down the hallway with the squad in riot gear in a tight protective circle around her.

'What's happening?' Jasper thought as gunshots continued to ring out further away from the dorms.
