Chapter 13: The Sky Rangers & Unity Day!

'Thinking'

"Talking"

--------------------------------------------------------------

- Dropship Crash Site | The Ground -

- Arthur Pendragon -

After an hour of searching the Aid Depot we were able to find 37 XM5 Rifles, 2,500 rounds of ammo (6.8×51mm Common), 37 U.S army ranger uniforms, as well as improved tents, blankets, and flashlights. Also, after explaining that my new armor was found here inside the Aid Depot, Bellamy searched for an extra 30 minutes before finally calling it quits so we could begin our trek back to camp.

Lastly, due to us finding the U.S army ranger uniforms and us being from the sky, I couldn't help but rename the hunters into the 'Sky Rangers'

"He's gone. The grounder is gone." We hear Miller yell while we approach the camp.

'Looks like Lincoln escaped.'

"What if he brings other grounders back?" Jasper asks.

"He'll kill us all." Someone adds fearfully.

"Or worse." Another one comments.

"Let the grounders come." Bellamy yells announcing our return as we stride into camp. "We've been afraid of them for far too long, and why? Because of their knives and spears. Well, I don't know about you. But I'm tired of being afraid." He finishes nodding to one of the rangers. Both sling the guns that were tied together over their shoulders and in front of everyone, making people become excited.

"Just because we have these guns does not mean we will wage war against the grounders! These guns are for defense only for now, and these are weapons, so the only people that will have them will be the newly named Sky Rangers." I inform them, causing a few of them to become downtrodden.

"Rangers, tomorrow we start training, and if the grounders come, we're gonna be ready to fight." Bellamy finishes by making the crowd disperse and handing over the guns to the rangers to carry over towards the weapon shed.

After walking back into the dropship and sitting down. Finn comes barging in and begins asking me questions. "Arthur. Guns? Really?"

"Finn, we need to be prepared for all possible scenarios, even if it's a scenario we don't want to happen." I respond.

"Our ancestors wanted to be prepared, too. So, they built bombs." Finn retorts.

"Rifles are not the same as nuclear bombs. Besides, I already made a pact with the grounder saying that we would strive for peace with his people above all else. I know you're the person who freed him, Finn. I mean who else would it have been." I explained to him, shocking him.

"What? You spoke with him? And what do you mean by his people?"

"After convincing him that we didn't want war he explained that if I form a pact with him swearing that we would strive for peace with his people, he will tell me a little bit of information. I learned that there are 12 clans of grounders and that they all fall under one leader. The Commander, they call them."

"Why haven't you told anyone yet?!" he asks angrily.

"I was planning to tomorrow; it's too late right now everyone is going to sleep. We should too." I told him.

"Alright. Goodnight Arthur." he says walking out of the dropship.

However, when Finn walks out both Clarke and Octavia walk in, and Clarke does not look happy.

"Arthur, is what Octavia said true?" she asks angrily.

"What did Octavia say?"

"That you want to be with me and Octavia! That is ridiculous there is no way I am sharing you with Octavia!" Clarke exclaims.

"What the fuck is that supposed to mean 'Princess'! Huh?" Octavia asks angrily, getting up in Clarke's face.

"Octavia that's-..."

"What? I have struggled my entire life while you have gotten everything you've ever wanted. While I was stuck under the floor you were running around the Ark having fun with Wells and all your other friends that I didn't have! Arthur makes me happy, and because he makes me happy, you must learn to share him, and not just from me if you didn't know!" Octavia yells at Clarke.

"What do you mean?" Clarke asked, confused.

"Did you really forget his last name already, Clarke? Pendragon! Arthur is destined to be a king or leader of some sort and you think that he won't have to marry politically, or have concubines?!" Octavia tells Clarke as if it's the simplest thing in the world.

"I-I... I didn't." Clarke admits with her head down.

"Clarke." Octavia says firmly, causing Clarke to lift her head. "We both really like him, right?"

"Of course." Clarke replies without hesitation.

"Then let's share him. We'll both have our own private moments with him, as well as shared. That way he won't have to focus on one or the other. Besides we will both be able to sleep with him, his bed in his tent is big enough for it." Octavia says cheekily.

"What do you mean by my bed is big enough for it? Why were you in my tent?" I question her.

She flashes me a cheeky, playful smile before dashing out the dropship and towards my tent.

"Octavia!" I yell, running after her.

"Hey, wait!" Clarke yells running behind us.

Once we all get back to my tent Clarke repatches up my wound on my back, and we all lay under the furs on my bed.

Octavia and Clarke both fall fast asleep but looking in my inventory and seeing those furs and scales causes me to have an idea that I cannot afford to put off. I quietly sneak out of the bed, put on a shirt and shorts, and make my way towards the crafting station that we had set up.

- A Few Days Later | Dropship Crash Site | The Ground -

A Few days later my project was completed and ready to be given out a few minutes before Jaha's speech about Unity Day.

As everyone begins to gather around a TV that was set up to broadcast Unity Day, I walk out in front of it wth Shadow and begin a speech. "Happy Unity Day Everyone!" I yell out causing the crowd to cheer.

After signaling the crowd to quiet down I continued. "We have been on the ground now surviving for around 2-3 weeks against the worst possible odds. Supernatural creatures, monsters, and Humans who we thought were once long dead, turned to ash by the bombs that fell 97 years ago attempt to kill us every day!"

"Yeah!"

"Yeah!"

"But I was able to interrogate the grounder before he escaped, and I have found crucial information that could help us in the future of our life on the ground." I say causing all of them to perk up and listen intently to what I have to say next. "The grounders are not one single entity but rather are divided into 12 different clans; each with their own territory and rules. These 12 clans are all kept in check by their leader. 'The Commander'."

"Which one are we fighting?!" A few of them asked.

"Currently we're fighting Trikru, a warrior clan."

"A warrior clan?" Some asked.

"Trikru?" Another bunch asked.

"That is all the information we have for now about the grounders, but on another note, I would like it if Bellamy Blake came over here, please." I say causing Bellamy who was standing off to the side against the wall to jerk is head towards me in surprise before making his way over.

"On this Unity Day we celebrate Bellamy Blake. Bellamy Blake has made many contributions to our camp even if our start was a little rough. He has successfully trained the Sky Rangers in simple martial arts, marksmanship, spearmanship, as well as Swordsmanship. There is no one better to fill this role than Bellamy Blake. Therefore, as of this moment Bellamy Blake is now the General of the Sky Rangers, please give him a round of applause!" I declare causing Bellamy to look at me bug-eyed and the crowd to erupt in applause and cheers. "Therefore, becoming the General of the Sky Rangers, I present to you custom water snake scaled armor!" I exclaim pulling a turquoise scaled Chest plate out of my inventory and handing it to him.

[Item: Scale Mail of the Riverlands]

Item Rarity: C

Type: Armor

Effect: This armor does not weigh you down in water and even makes you a more potent swimmer. Heat Resistance +5%.

'This bastard better accept it with gratitude. I had to stay up for seven hours straight making recycled scrap weapons just to get blacksmithing up to level 25 so I could craft C tier gear.'

The screen behind me begins to flicker signaling the beginning of the broadcast but my speech isn't over quite yet. "Also, the Sky rangers have reached 31 people, that's amazing! And I know that you might be considering becoming one too but remember being a Sky ranger is important, but it is also important to farm and hunt for berries, as well as craft weapons and other necessities we can use to improve our life here on the ground." I say causing some people to nod their heads in agreement.

"Finally, before Jaha's broadcast begins the Sky rangers will be receiving Fur chestpieces and gauntlets that will be worn over their standard ranger uniform. Thank you for listening and enjoy Jaha's speech." I say turning away and walking into the dropship with Shadow at my heels.

"Haven't had enough yet have you, Arthur?" Malcolm asked, appearing before me in a cloud of smoke.

"Not until I am able to best you!" I shouted with determination.

"Ha! You won't be able to do that for a while. So far, you've only been able to land 1 hit on me every training session, and you want to defeat me?"

"Yeah, I do."

"5 Hits. If you are able to land 5 hits on me in a single session you will be ready."

"5 Hits? That's it? Easy." I say lunging towards him.

"That hubris will be the death of you!" he yells, parrying my attack.

After completing training with Malcolm, I woke up to find Clarke shaking me awake.

"What is it?" I asked her.

"We lost contact with the Ark. We don't know what happened but suddenly the comms just cut out during the pageant. Raven tried to figure out the problem, but she said that it was from their end and not ours."

"It's okay Clarke it's Unity Day! Enjoy it!"

"Yeah, but are you sure it's a good idea to have a party? I mean, with the grounders out there-..."

"Relax. I'm sure Bellamy has security covered. Go get a drink have fun we could both use one."

"We could both use more than one." she replies flirtatiously while reaching out for my hand.

"Then have more than one." My response causes a sour look to appear on her face.

"Why? It's Unity Day and like you said it's time to have fun." she replies with her hand still outstretched towards mine.

Grabbing her hand, I allow her to pull me up while I wrap a shoulder around her waist; bringing her body tight against mine. I lean down and whisper in her ear, "Because, I still have to talk with Bellamy about him being a General. I think he is still confused about that."

Clarke leans back and says, "We all are. I thought we were giving up our weapons to the guard when they came down?"

"Ha! The Guard wouldn't get a single bullet casing from us if it were up to me. No, the Ark is a relic from when people needed to survive in space because they thought the world ended. Our world down here and theirs up there are radically different, and if they think the same rules that applied up there will apply down here? They're goddamn wrong and I'll make sure of it." I tell her seriously.

"What do you plan to do Arthur?" she asked, confused.

"Be a leader. The people on the Ark won't know how to survive down here, especially with supernatural creatures and monsters roaming about. Now if I want to talk to Bellamy before he gets drunk or occupied with any girls, I must talk to him now. Sorry Clarke."

"You owe me later. Got it."

"Got it. Thanks!" I reply by giving her a quick kiss on the lips before making my way out of the dropship in search of Bellamy.

After a quick scan of the party, I spot Bellamy with a rifle slung around his back giving orders to one of the rangers. After the ranger leaves, I quickly make my way towards him.

"Bellamy. How's security going?" I asked him.

"Good so far... but you didn't come to ask about that did you?" he asked.

"You're wondering why you're being appointed to General when there wasn't such a position on the Ark. And when we are supposed to be giving up our guns when the people from the Ark get on the ground. Am I right?"

"Yeah, and if I had to take a guess you plan on taking control of the Ark or at least something similar?"

"Close but not quite. I plan to become a leader to them; a beacon in the monster, supernatural darkness. Wait-..."

"What?" Bellamy asked.

"Where is Finn?"

"He's most likely in his tent with Raven."

"He's not."

"How do you know?"

"Because Raven is over playing a drinking game with a sour ass look on her face, and I'd bet money that she's talking shit about Finn right now." I reply.

"Weird. I don't remember him saying he was going out."

'Where is he? If I remember right in the show, he should be... at Lincoln's cave! Fuck!'

"Bellamy, was Finn with you guys when you went to capture the grounder?"

"Yeah, he was. Why?"

"Because I think he went to find the grounder!"

"Are you fucking kidding me!? What does he think he's doing?" Bellamy questioned.

"He's most likely trying to gain an audience with the Trikru leader, so that we can make an attempt at peace."

"Peace? What the-..."

"A-Arthur~" I hear a sultry voice from my left.

Tilting my head in the direction of the new voice; which is Octavia is swaying her hips and making her way towards with a sultry smile on her face. Within the blink of an eye Octavia has her whole body pressed into mine and is whispering into my ear about how we should go back to our tent and have sex.

"Octavia! Your brother is right here!" I told her.

"So? He doesn't care." The look on Bellamy's face tells a different story, however.

"Arthur!" I hear from behind me.

I turn around and come face to face with Finn.

"Where the hell were you?" Bellamy questions.

"It doesn't matter where I was." he responds before looking back at me. "I need you to come with me, I set up a meeting with the grounders."

"Octavia head to my tent for tonight, I'll be with you there shortly." I told her.

"You better." she replies kissing my cheek and stumbling her way to my tent.

"How?" Bellamy asks Finn, ignoring Octavia and me.

"I was just with the grounder that we had in the dropship. His name is Lincoln."

"Wait a second. He speaks English?" Bellamy asks.

"That's not important right now." Finn replies.

"If we want to live in peace with these people then-..."

"Peace? Finn, we can't live in peace with people who've done nothing but try to kill us." Bellamy responds.

"With them we can." I say causing Bellamy to gape, and Finn to gain a hopeful glint in his eyes. "There are worse monsters out there than Trikru."

"I know it's a long shot... but this is our world now and... I think we can do better than the first time around. I trust him." Finn says.

"Of course, you do. How long have you known him by the way?" Bellamy asked.

"What are the terms of the meeting?" I asked him.

"You can't really be considering this, can you?" Bellamy asked.

"No weapons." Finn says.

"Not happening." Bellamy and I both say at the same time.

"No way. We're not bringing guns. Those weren't the terms and if we're gonna do this we gotta give it a fair shot." Finn explains.

"Finn, a piece of advice: The world isn't fair, it is harsh, cruel, and destructive. People all the more so." I told him. Turning to Bellamy, I tell him, "Bring the top 5 best marksman's and have them stay hidden in the brush."

"What? No." Finn whispers.

"Finn, I am the leader and I make the decisions. This one is not up for debate. Bellamy will gather his pack and the rangers; I'll gather my pack and we'll meet you at the gate." I told him.

"...Okay." he responds before walking towards the gate.

"Time for some peace negotiation."

"Are you sure this will work?" Bellamy asked.

"One can always hope." I respond; walking off in search of my pack.
