That Child is Strange

"So? Why the Shuzar Estate?" Isaac asked, looking at the anxious lady he had just decided to escort. "You don't need to know," she said. Isaac smiled at the clear refusal. "Then, perhaps, you could elaborate more on why you were jumping walls of your estate instead of a more conventional walking method?" Isaac said. "Another thing you don't need to know," she said. "How about an account on something I AM allowed to know?" Isaac said in a particularly sarcastic tone. "The last time I checked, an account like that included 'NOTHING' in it," Evelyn said, looking out of the carriage window, possibly to ensure how much of the distance was traveled. A sighed chuckle escaped Isaac as he repressed his slight annoyance. "Look here, my dear lady, I am trying to make small talk that might help us improve our currently unhealthy relationship. And the way you're answering me certainly isn't helping," Isaac said turning Evelyn's face back toward him gently with his hand. "What could possibly give you the idea that I wanted to maintain a healthy relationship with you?" Evelyn snapped. "Maybe the fact that you jumped into my arms from a wall?" Isaac said delightfully. "I expect you to remember it despite your memory problems as it has been quite a recent occurrence." "Oh! Believe me! It wouldn't have happened if I had a choice!" (Evelyn) "Well, care to explain how you got into a situation where you had no other choice?" (Isaac) "Do you wish to know what could improve our relationship?" (Evelyn) "What, may I please know?" (Isaac) "You shutting up." (Evelyn)

Isaac Hale

Evelyn gasped deeply as the maid pulled the strings of her corset. Normally, her mornings would be spent eating a light breakfast and walking to the library.

But this particular day was very important. It was important because her fiancé, young master Isaac Hale was there to visit her. Apparently, the visit was to ensure her well-being after her recent illness.

Evelyn thought that the pretext was quite late running as it had already been over two months since she got ill. And the fact that she had a fiancé at all was much more horrifying.

Now that her hair was done, she headed downstairs to the guest room to meet with the so-called Sir Hale.

She stood in front of the closed door of the guest room and knocked. Even knocking on the door was a pain in that corset. She twisted her grunt back into a smile as a voice from behind the door told her to go inside.

She opened the door and closed it behind her.

She lowered her and greeted him with her etiquette (that was pretty much beaten into her by her mother so it acted as a bodily reflex).

"I greet the young master, Isaac Hale," she said softly and rose her eyes to look at the person's face.

Her eyes were dumbstruck and so was she.

The face she saw was so similar to a face that she never thought she would see again.

"I see that you are quite fine even when they made all that fuss about you being ill," said the fifteen-year-old boy not even bothering to greet her back. " I guess I just wasted my precious time to see that just fine face of yours."

Evelyn couldn't utter a single word more. The shock of what she was seeing in front of her eyes was greater than the audible sensation.

"Now I am so disgusted that I'm losing my appetite," Isaac said looking down at her face with a scowl. "Why aren't you saying anything?"

Isaac came closer to her and violently tapping on her forehead, said" Is it true that you became an idiot after falling ill?"

"Hey!!" *tap *tap *tap

"Say something or have you gone even mute now."

Evelyn swallowed a huge lump back into her mouth. Her chest hurt as a gush of tears rolled out of her eyes which weren't even blinking as if afraid that what they were seeing would disappear.

"Hani..."

Evelyn's voice whispered as if choked by her tears.

"What?" Isaac asked looking surprised as this wasn't the response he was expecting from her.

As if realization suddenly hit her, she stopped her tears immediately and moved away from the boy.

She looked at his blonde hair and green eyes.

"No, you're not Hani," she told herself.

"Who are you talking about?!? Who is this Hani?!?" Isaac yelled, somewhat irritated at the mention of another person.

"Isaac Hale, was it?" Evelyn said as her voice turned cold.

Isaac flinched unconsciously as he had never seen Evelyn talk like that.

"It's been quite a while since you've been talking like a prick to me," Evelyn said, visibly irritated. It was way more annoying because that bastard was saying that stuff with Hani's face. As if her precious Hani would ever talk to her like that.

"What? How dare you talk to me like that?!" Isaac yelled, quite shaken at the sudden confrontation.

"Why, you coconut head?!?" Evelyn said as her temper took a leap towards the shorter side. "You are talking as if you own the fucking world. And what? You feel disgusted? Then don't fucking look in the mirror from now on, you maggot!"

"You... You..." Isaac was at a loss at this. Never in his life he had heard someone insult him with words so 'vulgar' as he considered them.

"Ah, well, keep talking, you might say something clever someday," Evelyn said with a twisted expression.

"What?!" Isaac shouted.

"Be honest with me, coconut head, did your parents ever ask you to run away from home?" (Evelyn)

"Why would they?!? They have never!!" (Isaac)

"I would agree with you but then we'd both be wrong, no?" (Evelyn)

"Why are you like this today?!?" (Isaac)

"I've met a lot of pricks in my life but you, sir, are a cactus." (Evelyn)

"But you just called me a coconut head!!!" (Isaac)

There was a moment of mutual silence as Isaac's face turned redder and redder.

"Why must you insult me like this?! I'm... I'm your fiancé!!" Isaac said with a shaking voice as if he was about to cry. "Why must you show such hate?"

"I'm not saying I hate you, I'm just saying that if you were to die, I'd be the first one to celebrate," Evelyn said.

"That means the same thing!!" Isaac retorted.

"Ha, so you do have a brain that you can actually use to come to logical conclusions," Evelyn scoffed.

"You must have really gone mad after that illness. Is this perhaps a new trick of yours to attract my attention?" Isaac asked after a while.

Evelyn was so offended by this that she grabbed the nearby flower vase and yeeted it over towards Isaac.

"The only reason that fucking vase missed your ugly mutt is because I'm bad at throwing. But rest assured, Young Master Isaac Hale, I'd be practicing very diligently. So that the next time that godforsaken rotten mouth of yours utter some again, I will just be able to render you speechless," Evelyn pointed the spikey stalk of flowers in the vase at Isaac's chin.

Isaac was frozen at his spot.

"I lost my memories. And I don't give a fuck about how I treated you before," Evelyn said. "But seeing how you talk like an asshole to your fiancé who barely escaped a potentially life-threatening illness, I must've been a fucking pushover to you."

Isaac again flushed. His arrogance dissipated as Evelyn said aloud his unreasonable actions.

"Now MY appetite is fucking gone," Evelyn said as she threw the wet flowers on Isaac and turned around to leave.

"Do me a favor," she said near the door. "Never show me that face of yours unless someone's dying. It's not like you want to see me either."

"Who is Hani?" Isaac asked as Evelyn was just about to go out.

"It's not your fucking business. Don't act like a proper fiancé all of a sudden," Evelyn said with an angry face, turning back. "It's fucking creepy."

And she left.

Isaac stood there for a long time before he got back to his senses. He wasn't exactly himself as he left the Grace estate.

Well, we all like a badass gurl.
