Prologue: A Thorny Lineage

Vito Earle studied the books before him disbelieving.

'Since when?'

He flipped through the pages before him in shock. He'd been a villain for a very long time, and he'd never noticed? All of them.

Every. Last. Freaking. Problem.

ONE. BLOODLINE!!!

In a rage he threw the book against the wall violently and stared down at it in rage.

~adolebitque~

Fire burst from his fingertips at his will and he incinerated the book to nothing but ashes.

Then he shred it into flakes of the ash with another word of power.

~segmentum~

Still inflamed he did it again.

~adolebitque~

~segmentum~

And again.

~adolebitque~

~segmentum~

And again.

After repeating the process for over twenty minutes he managed to calm down. He composed himself. It wasn't like him to lose his composure, but he had been alive for thousands of years, and realizing the source of all of his problems so suddenly was mind numbing.

He hadn't needed to even say the spells aloud, but his rage had pulled him back to his earlier days when he had been full of passion and had done things just for the thrill of doing them.

He spotted the single flake of an ash torn to pieces too many times to count and stared at it intently before speaking.

~restituere~

Just like that all of the flakes of ash came together to reform the book of bloodlines. He stared at it intently as he flipped to the latest page. Newly born Aiden Vir Fortis III. Well. He didn't know where the child was now, but he would find him. He would eliminate every single last member of that cursed bloodline before they had any idea he was coming.

With that thought he called for his right hand man.

"Gerand!" Vito yelled.

After some screeching and hearing books being knocked over, Gerand opened the door to the library peeking his head in slowly. His head was more beastly than anything else anyways, and his body was to large, muscular and destructive for such an elegant house. He had been the result of his master's experimentation's with giving humans wolf-like strength

As a result, he now grew fur from everywhere, shaved his face five times a day and the rest of his body each morning. But the experiment had worked. He had 5 times the speed, three times the muscle, ten times the viciousness, and half the mercy of an already master assassin before the experiment.

"Yes master?"

"I need you to find a certain family for me." Vito said quietly. "It may take some time, but they must be found, and everyone of them killed. Am I clear?"

Gerand looked at him. It was an unusual request. Especially from his usually methodical master. "Yes master."

"Good. The book is on the table."

With that Vito turned an walked out elegantly, throwing his robe in a small flourish as he walked outside to clear his head. Gerand looked at the book in amazement wondering what had caused his master to be so angry with the family.

He looked curiously at the strange book with bold letters that said; 'The Bloodline of Vir Fortis'.
