The world has fallen and so did humanity. In the new era after the apocalypse, Marcus Zephanie was hailed to be the leader. Because of him, one-fourth of the human race was saved. He was the new hero. However, not everyone believed that Marcus was the man people deemed him to be and no one really knows the truth, except for one. *Photo for the cover grabbed from google :)
Wake up call
HERO
The blast from the night before was seared through Hero's memory. He could see it in his eyelids which made him shut his eyes forcefully before trying to open them again.
The last thing he remembered was holding Avalyn's hand and running towards the orphanage. After that, he awoke to a world of ash and the smell of reeking blood, his body feeling sore all over.
Right now, Hero felt like he was in the same situation too. Except instead of blood, the smell was different. His body felt heavy and it was a struggle for him to keep his eyes open. He tried squinting them, not certain of what he was seeing at the moment. His vision merely registered brightness and nothing more.
Trying to see more clearly, Hero opened his eyes, forcing himself to try and figure out where he was.
