Chapter 7.2 - Long overdue

"I see you haven't taken my comment about you looking like a vampire seriously, like dude, you need a makeover" i said semi-seriously, Erica who was beside me giggled and covered her mouth with her left hand.

"You! Yo-Your Jacob?" Derek asked as his face changed from shock to realisation, "You brat, i was wondering who that arrogant prick was that called me a vampire" he said and smiled, we stood looking at each other for a few seconds before we hugged,

"Hahaha, you got big runt, how the hell are you taller than me?" Derek asked as he broke away from the hug and looked at me, "And more handsome, don't forget that, hahaha" i laughed, "This is Erica, my beta, and future luna" i said causing Derek to look at both me and Erica with a look of shock, "Y-yo-your already building your pack? you got a name for it? a pack symbol?" Derek fired of questions,

"Hehe yeah, i'm building up my pack now, i was thinking of naming my pack 'Dusk', as for the symbol, well i was thinking the 'Triquetra', but still on the fence about it" i said with a smile while we walked out of the station, "Hi Erica, i'm Derek, a pleasure to meet you" Derek said and shook Erica's hand, "Likewise, you know Jake's right? You kinda look like a vampire" Erica giggled, "Hahaha yeah i think i might need a change of style" Derek replied with a smile.

"Nice car" i said to Derek and moved to my car, "Haha you too" he said and sat on my bonnet, "So, you know what happened to Laura?" He asked me as the air got heavy with tension, "Yeah, and i think i know who killed her" i looked at him right in the eyes, "Was it you?" Derek asked, and i heard his heart rate spike,

"I loved her just as much as you Derek, don't you ever accuse me of that" my voice grew low, my eyes glowed scarlet red, Erica who had already sat in my car also growled while her eyes glowed, a few seconds of silence ensued, Derek's eyes glowed ice blue and he flinched alittle, we looked at eachother before willing our eyes to stop glowing, "She was just as much a sister to me as she was yours" i stated and leaned against the car, "Alright... sorry, i didn't mean to accuse you" he said with a tinge of regret in his voice.

"So? who do you think it is?" he asked, "I won't tell you yet, i'm waiting for Kate Argent to get into town, after she does, the alpha will become more active, then we'll kill him" i said with a tone so cold Erica shivered abit and held my hand, i turned to her and smiled reassuringly to her, "Kate? Why are you waiting for that bitch?" he asked me with a sceptical look, "Because she's responsible for the fire that killed our family" i stated, my eyes and Derek's flashed and glowed as our anger spiked.

"Are.You.Sure?" Derek asked as his voice was low and he tried to hold back a growl from escaping his throat, his breathing was abit erratic and he did his best to keep calm, "I'm 80% sure, and if i'm right, than the alpha that stole Laura's spark is someone we know. I'm trying to keep a low profile and not garnar the attention of the Argents, and the alpha".

"Think you can keep them busy till after the next full moon?" i asked and looked at Derek, "Yeah, i think i can manage that, by the way, you know the alpha has a beta right?" he said with concern, "Aye, i know it's Scott, he's like a toddler, fumbling around, and scared of everything, the alpha hasn't completely got him under his control, which means, the alpha himself, might not be in control" i said and a cold glint passed through my eyes, "Are you saying what i think your saying?" Derek asked, "Yeah, he's just running on instinct, no thought to his actions, the way he rushed to bite Scott soon after he killed Laura, that points out, he is not in control right now, which could either be a big help to us, or be more dangerous" i said in a thoughtful way,

"It seems you've grown up runt, hehe your not the same impulsive brat, who used to follow me and Laura around everywhere anymore, your starting to act like an alpha" he said with a proud smile, "I had to grow up fast" i smiled back sadly at him, causing him to look down at his boots, "we need to get back Laura's alpha spark, Beacon Hills needs the Hale pack" i said, "It has you doesn't it?" he looked up at me confused, "No brother, it needs someone with Hale blood, not Hale name, you will have to be the new alpha, i have to find out about my parents, my biological parents, so i won't be here in the future. Mom and Laura would want you to take over the old territory" i said and patted his back, "*Sigh* fine, after what that alpha did to Laura, no way is he walking away still breathing" he stated sternly,

"Alright, i'm covering Erica and i's scent using Jasmine, so he won't be able to sniff us out, and we also need an emissary, do you remember who mom's was?" i asked Derek, "I never met him, Peter might have, but with him being unable to communicate since the fire, i don't know" Derek said,

"Why do you want a druid though?" he asked me pointedly, "Every pack must have an emissary, nature must be appeased, mom always said, balance is key to the supernatural world and the human world not encountering each other" i stated like a wise man, making Derek laugh, "Now i'm really wondering if your really my snot nosed brother" he said feeling amused.

"The emissary will show themselves when the time is right, we just gotta get things settled first, i'll keep an eye out for the alpha and the Argents. If Kate shows up like your anticipating, i'll let you know" he said and gave me a hug, "I'm at the old house, need to talk to me, that's where i'll be" Derek said before leaving, shortly afterwards Erica and i left for home.

A few days later, in class we were getting our math quiz papers back, i was sitting at the back, to my left was Stiles, and infront of him was Scott, Allison and i had talked yesterday, she said she needed time to figure out what she wanted, i told Erica to lay off her abit and let her figure out her own feelings, since than i've kept my distance,

while our boy Scott here has been the ever loyal guy who doesn't know he's been friend-zoned, always with her any chance he gets, and tryna impress her, Erica and Danny had Chem today so i was by myself, well not exactly as next to me to my right was Sarah, Danny's cousin, yep she transfered yesterday and we have the same classes all week, call it fate or whatever.

Sarah and i have gotten closer, she was fun to hang out with, her parents died in a car crash a month ago, and she moved to live with Danny and his parents here in Beacon Hills, her looks gained her alot of attention, her first day in school the hall ways went quiet for a few seconds when she walked in, Lydia being the queen bee she was tried to coax her into her clique but it didn't work, instead she spent the whole of yesterday with me, Danny and Erica, and well she and Erica are already best friends, i mean how the hell does Erica make friends so fast, when a week ago she was a loner?, *Sigh* another perk of being a werewolf i suppose, i mean we are social creatures after all.

Anyway, Sarah was smart, like in a league of her own smart, i mean yesterday when we went to Erica and i's apartment and she saw my security setup, girl went tech wiz geek and upgraded a few things and gave suggestions to improve the system, yeah this girls on another level, "Hey what you get?" she asked me, "A+" i said and showed her my paper, "You?" i asked back, "Same" she showed me hers and smiled, "Dang you two got the highest scores in class" Stiles said from beside me, "Well we do study together" Sarah said with a smile, for some reason Stiles smiled like a perve and fist bumped me, i think he took what she said the wrong way and assumed some lewd things, "My guy" was all he said.

"'If Derek isn't the alpha and he's not the one that bit you than who did?''I don't know''Did the alpha kill the bus driver?''I don't know''Does Allison's dad know about the bus driver''I don't know!'" Stiles and Scott kept whispering not so quietly, and with Scott's sudden yell they gained looks from everyone, i didn't say anything, even though Sarah and i could hear everything they were saying, she gave me a 'What are they talking about?' look to which i just answered, "Probably a video game", it seemed to have appeased her curiousity for now.

After classes, Sarah and i headed out of school to the car park, Danny and Erica were already next to my car waiting for us, "So what do you think those two were talking about?" Sarah asked me while we walked to my car, "Who?" i asked back with a look of confusion, "Stiles and the other one" she said plainly, "Oh! I don't know, maybe some kinda game? i wasn't really listening to them" i stated flatly, "Oh well i heard Stiles ask about an alpha or something" she said with a thoughtful expression on her face, "Maybe they were talking about wolves?" i said shrugging, Erica came up and kissed my cheek, while Danny fist-bumped me.

All of a sudden, cars started honking, we turned to see Stiles's jeep stopped in the middle of the road, infront was Scott and Derek, Derek felt like he was in pain, and felt weakened, "Hey i think that's my brother, you guys wait here i'll be back" i said and handed my bag to Erica and ran towards them.

"Wait, that's what she meant when she said you have 48 hours""Wai-Waht, who said 48 hours?""The one who shot you" i heard Scott and Derek say to each other as i reached them, "Hey what's going on?" i asked and held out my arm to Derek who took it and stood, while he did so Scott and Stiles saw black veins pop up over my arm as i relieved Dereks pain, "What the hell is that?" Stiles said with wide eyes and pointed to our arms, "Nevermind that, who shot you?" i asked Derek, "Kate..." was all he said before he almost collapsed, his eyes flickered on and off, "What are you doing? Stop that!" Scott panicked and looked at me, "Oh come now Scott, did you really think you were the only werewolf in school?" i said as i flickered my eyes on and off within a second,

Stiles jumped back and fell on his ass after he saw my eyes, while Scott looked shocked for a second before his eyes glowed golden, "YOU! YOur the one that bit me!" he said angrily, "Oh grow up you dumbass if i was the one that bit you, you'd have already known that"i said with an annoyed tone making him frown, "Come on help me put him in Stiles's jeep" i said and hoisted Derek up,

"We'll need you to find out what kinda bullet they used" i said to Scott, "How the hell am i supposed to do that?" asked Scott with an angry scowl at me, "Watch yourself Scott, i'm not a beta like you and Derek, i'm an alpha, you do as i say, and we won't have a problem, your his beta, if i kill you, his power is diminished, so don't test my patience" i said and looked at Scott, he looked like he was gonna piss himself while Stiles was left mouth agape looking at us,

"She's an Argent, she's with them" Derek said trying to calm me down, "Why the hell should i help you?" Scott asked accusingly, "Because if you don't i'll rip out your mom's throat out, how bout that huh?" i threatened, he growled and clenched his fist, "Don't give me an excuse to end you, do as i said and find the bullet, Stiles take Derek to the animal clinic, we'll meet you there, and Scott get your head out of your ass, my brother's life is at stake, don't give me a reason to shed blood" i said coldly to Scott,

"*Sigh* Fine, i'll try, Stiles get him out of here" Scott said giving in, "I hate you guys so much" Stiles replied and started the jeep and drove off. "Hi, What was he doing here?" Allison asked looking at Derek in Stiles's car, i turned and looked at her making her avoid looking at me, "I'll talk to you later Scott, get it done" i said before walking away hurriedly.

I got back to Erica, Danny and Sarah, "Hey i need to follow Stiles, you guys wanna come? but remember this, whatever you see when we get to where we're going will forever change the way you look at the world" i said cryptically, "Are you gonna tell them about us?" Erica asked looking perplexed, "Yes, that's only if they get in the car and come with us" i said and looked at Danny and Sarah, who in turn looked at eachother before turning to me, ""Let's go"" they said together, Erica and i smiled, "Get in".
