Vampires look at each other, and confirm Samantha's identity among themselves through mental conversation.
"Don't waste your time asking who I am." Samantha interrupted them. "I'll introduce myself. Yes, I'm Samantha, a.k.a RED. And also known as the Demon vampire feeding the blood of her OWN kind."
"It's really her!", exclaims the short-haired female vampire.
"Jeez, what bad luck. We actually ran into her.", says one among the male vampires. "What are we gonna do now?"
"What are you afraid of? There are five of us here, and she's alone." The second man says arrogantly. "Hey bitch, if you don't want to die tonight, get lost."
Samantha smirks eerily. "Can I take that as a no?"
"You're insane."
"What a waste of my time." Samantha shakes her head and suddenly, her eyes glint bloody red. "Greedy people must die."
"Go away!"
"Nope. I still have yet to have my meal."
In a split second, Samantha disappears and reappears in the middle of them, clutching two male vampires by their necks with both hands as she spins them around and breaks their necks in the blink of an eye.
Like mammals in the wild fighting for food, the three remaining vampires face Samantha ferociously.
"Why are you doing this to us?", asks the short-haired female vampire again. "We are all vampires."
Samantha shrugs. "Because it's fun."
"If you're looking for fun, you should come with us and hunt humans. This is what we truly are."
"Nope." Samantha waved a finger in front of her face. She is not taking them seriously. "To kill humans is boring. They are weak. Unlike vampires, not only can they satisfy my barbaric desires, I can acquire more powers from my victims."
"So, is that all you are after? You're a monster."
Samantha chuckles loudly. As if it makes her uncomfortable, she holds her stomach and giggles exaggeratedly. "If I'm a monster, what are you? Saint? So funny."
"Cut the crap! Kill her!", the arrogant male vampire shrieks, and then initiates a fight.
The three vampires launch an attack at once, clawing their hands in the air as they draw their fangs out.
Samantha is too absorbed in laughing. She doesn't take their attacks too seriously since the very beginning. However, unknown to them, her laughter is a camouflage for the anger that is boiling deep inside her.
As their sharp nails are about to touch her, Samantha raises her head and remarks arrogantly, "Hmm, that's the spirit I'm looking for."
With a smirk, Samantha meets their attacks with just a stare, and their hands are restricted in the air and can no longer advance.
"What did you do?" With a weird tone, vampires cry as the restriction trails a bone-wrenching pain to their body. They want to retract themselves and run, but they can neither advance nor retreat.
What kind of force stops them from making any move?
Do these vampires forget that their kind is a mysterious being?
All vampires believe that the God of Death bestows them with a rare power since they are born. And Samantha is not an exception.
Samantha draws an evil smirk and replies, "Did your Queen forget to tell you that I'm an Elements Master? I.. CAN… CONTROL… THINGS… WITH… MY… MIND."
That being said, Samantha appears behind the male vampire with hands gripping tightly on the necks of the two others. She giggles teasingly as she whispers in the ear of the male vampire who stands in the center of the two females. "Say Hi to God of Death for me."
Then Samantha draws her fangs out and atrociously bites the neck of the male one as she breaks the necks of the others at the same time. As cracking sounds of their broken necks are heard, Samantha pulls her fangs away and lets the remaining blood of the male vampire spurt out in the air.
Samantha yanks the two females against the tree using her strength that no one would dare to imagine and twisted the man's neck.
The female vampire's body turns to ashes and vanishes in a second. However, Samantha had not had enough of the night. With her fangs still protruding out, she continues to twist the man's neck and brutally hauls it off, severing his neck.
Unlike humans, the vampire's corpse doesn't stay intact. The moment they die, the body vanishes after.
Samantha let out a curse when the head perished before she could crush it with her bare hand.
"Shit, this is the worst meal I'd ever have. Pig's blood doesn't taste good. It's gross." Samantha spats and wipes off her lips with disgust.
======
In one of St Alexis Hospital wards.
In front of the pale and unconscious patient, Mario, the Heirden family and the Sebastian family gather together.
The Heirden family sits silently as they set their eyes on their anonymous guests. Well, the guests are strangers to Mrs and Mr Heirden, but not to Morgan. Morgan knows clearly who they are.
In front of the Heirden family are Ashley Sebastian and her father, Dr. Clemente Sebastian, the chief director of the hospital.
Behind them, there is a stern-looking man yet a handsome one, wearing an expensive suit, carrying an aura of a respected status. He is holding a black suitcase as he sits behind the father and daughter.
Morgan couldn't take his eyes off Ashley's face. After so many years, he couldn't believe that he would be lucky tonight to be able to see her again. On the contrary, Ashley feels uncomfortable with Morgan's infatuated gaze on her. She secretly clenches her skirt with the hands that are resting on her lap and forces a smile, which causes Morgan to blush.
Morgan is behaving like a lovesick teenager. He completely forgets that they are in the hospital and is facing a serious problem. The way he stares at Ashley says like he sees nobody else at the moment but only her. Others don't exist.
Mr and Mrs Heirden nudge him to his sides almost simultaneously, but seeing Ashley turns him numb. He doesn't feel anything.
The stern man behind Ashley clears his throat.
For an unknown reason, that clearing throat sound snaps Morgan out of his ambitious daydreaming.
"What is it?", asks Morgan out of the blue. Nobody answers him, it makes him feel awkward. As he glances at his parents and sees their expressions, he realizes one thing— he is acting foolish.
Morgan scratches the back of his neck and smiles stiffly. "Well, um, Ashley, Director Sebastian, may I know the reason for your visit here? It's not that I don't want you guys to be here. But, I just wonder how could a humble family like us have this honor to receive your visit and waste your precious time."
"Hmm. You have good manners, lad." Dr Sebastian commented seriously. His tone is as respectable as his profession's uniform. "You're a perfect match for my daughter."
Morgan laughs. "Ha, ha, ha, Dr Sebastian, your joke is quite funny."
"We're not joking." Ashley, Dr Sebastian, and Dovan, the stern man, replied in unison. Their tone just carries a different tone. Ashley sounds disgusted, Dovan sounds jealous, and Dr Sebastian sounds slightly unhappy. In short, they are not sincere as they deliver such messages.
But the Heirden family is not in a good state to pay attention to that minor detail. Shocks plaster their faces hearing their chant.
Morgan furrows his brows. His heart drums panickingly, though. "W-what do you guys m-mean?"
Dr Sebastian sits upright and looks straight at the Heirden family's eyes, "I'm an outspoken person. I'll cut the chase. The reason for my visit today is to offer you a marriage."
"What?" Morgan stands out of surprise. "Who is marrying who?"
Dr Sebastian smiles. "You heard me, boy. You're a perfect match for my daughter. So that only means I'm marrying her off to you."
"What?" Morgan's jaws dropped. "But why?"
Morgan feels like he has won a jackpot. But for some reason, his heart feels unsettled. The sudden marriage proposal is favourable for him since he has likes Ashley since they were in high school, but he doesn't want to marry her if she doesn't reciprocate his feelings. Besides, he has nothing to offer except his strength and body.
What could he give her?
What do they see in him that the princess of the family is even willing to marry him?
"There's no why. She is just at the right age to marry.", answers Dr Sebastian. "Look, my daughter is already 23 years old, but still doesn't have a boyfriend. I am so eager to see an heir, but how is that going to happen if she keeps on refusing to settle down with one of the guys I arranged for her? I was so worried, but then she confessed to me. She has someone she likes."
Dr Sebastian shuts his daughter with a meaningful look, who lowers her head, acting shy, and moves his gaze to Morgan.
Morgan points to his face. "You can't tell me it's me?"
Dr Sebastian nods his head. "Fortunately, yes. She said she likes you. Right, Ashley?"
Ashley raises her head and finds the inquisitive eyes of everyone landing on her. She takes a deep breath and meets Morgan's eyes. "Yes, Morgan. I've been in love with you since that day you protected me from bullies when we were in high school. And until now, I-I have been waiting for you to come to me and tell me you love me." Ashleys's eyes well up. "I'm begging you Morgan. M-marry me. I— please excuse me."
Ashley rises from her seat and runs out of the ward in tears. Her father calls her to return but she doesn't listen. She leaves the room under the shock of the Heirden family's faces.
Dr Sebastian sighs. "Sorry for that. My daughter is just too desperate to marry you, Morgan. And as a woman, she feels ashamed to beg a man to marry her."
"I'll talk to her." Morgan tries to leave but Dr Sebastian stops him.
"No need. She will only hide from you if you chase after her right now."
"Then what shall I do?"
Dr Sebastian gestures his head to Dovan, and Dovan immediately takes out several documents. Dovan hands it to Dr Sebastian and the latter puts the documents on the table and pushes them towards Morgan. "Just sign all the papers here if you agree to marry her."
Morgan's brows furrowed, displeased. "Is this a contract marriage?"
"No. Of course." Dr Sebastian denied it immediately. "You can take a look at them. These are the papers we need to legalize your marriage. Tomorrow, you'll be marrying right here with my daughter via a judge."
"Civil wedding?"
"Yes."
Morgan frowns even more. Seeing his reaction, Dr Sebastian continues to explain, "Sorry Morgan if we decide everything in our hands. It's just that I'm a busy doctor. My schedules is full every day. But, if you think the idea is not good, then, we should consider holding the ceremony in the church. I'll squeeze time for your wedding into my schedule."
"No." Morgan shook his head. "I'm fine with anything. I'm just worried that Ashely might not like this. After all, she grows up with a gold spoon in her mouth. I think she always fantasizes about having an extravagant wedding ceremony with her beloved prince. And I'm not a prince."
"I can assure you, Mr Heirden. Ashley will be happy about this. In fact, all of these are her ideas. We can just see that she is very eager to marry you."
"Yeah, this is too fast. I can't believe it's real. Perhaps this is just a dream. And tom—"
"Bullshits, stop playing hard to get." Dovan groans unexpectedly. "Just sign it and happily receive your benefits."
"Dovan." Dr Sebastian calls the man's name with warning. "You're being rude."
Morgan casts Dovan a look and then returns it to Dr Sebastian. "Dr, what does this man mean?"
Dr Sebastian feigns a smile. "Look, we know that you are facing a money problem right now. So, as long as you marry my daughter by tomorrow, we will give you $1 million. No offense, it's our dowry."
"That's too much. We don't need pity. This is not what I want for my marriage. I don't accept it." Morgan immediately rejected it.
"Can I interrupt?" Mrs Heirden asks. And everyone's eyes immediately fell on her. The old woman gulps and takes her son's hand. "Morgan, son, I know, you don't want to hear this. But, for the sake of your brother, just accept it. It's a big help."
"But—"
"Please Morgan. Mario is only counting on you." Mrs Heirden cried.
Morgan is speechless.
Mr Heirden, who has been being neglected from the start, fakes a cough twice and speaks up, "Whatever Morgan's decision is, I'll support it. I hope no one will pressure him."
Hearing that, Mrs Heirden sobs even more.
Dr Sebastian smiles hearing Mr Heirden's remarks. "Of course. But Morgan, I'd like to make this clear. For me, money is nothing compared to my daughter's happiness. So I really hope, as a father who wants to give all the best to my daughter, you'll agree. Marry her and receive the dowry. For the sake of your brother."
Morgan turns around and stares at his unconscious brother lying on the sickbed. He closes his eyes and weighs things in his mind when, suddenly, her emerald eyes with an evil smirk on her face cross in his mind. Her words even resonate in his head, "And is here to claim you."
His body jolts a little from those sudden recollections. With a panicked countenance, he faces the doctor and exclaims, "Yes, I'll agree with everything. I'm marrying her by tomorrow."
Everyone is surprised to see the panic in his eyes, but none among them points it out. Dr Sebastian just smiles and says, "Great. Sign the paper and get prepared for tomorrow."
Unlike earlier, Morgan enthusiastically signs his name on several documents and exhales in relief. "Whooh, it's done."
"Great. Everything is set." Dr Sebastian adjusts his collar and stands, offering Morgan's parents a handshake. When it is Morgan's turn to handshake with Dr Sebastian, the flower vase moves rapidly to the side and shutters on the floor, startling everyone in the room who instantly exchanges looks with each other.
Unknown to them, a pair of emerald eyes are watching them from the outside. Her vision penetrates through the closed door and sees everything inside.
Samantha, who just arrived not long ago, is leaning leisurely against the wall opposite to the ward and smirks evilly. "Marry her by tomorrow? Hmm, interesting."
That said, Samantha disappears from where she is and performs a killing spree against vampires everywhere.
