Chapter 5 - Nathan & Michael

The door rang as the first customer of the day entered.

"Yo! Anna." A handsome, black haired and angular face figure opened the door. With another, shorter person following behind

"Oh hey Michael. Hey Nathan"

"morning' Anna" The shorter figure called Nathan replied back.

"What are you guys doing here?" Anna asked

"I had nothing to do so… Here I am. Nathan just followed me."

"I didn't follow you! I also just had nothing to do." Nathan said with a softer voice compared to his confident friend.

"Alright, alright. Do you guys want something to drink"

"I'll take some green tea" Michael spoke

"And I'll take some coffee please." Nathan followed up.

"You can lay off on the coffee once in a while, y'know." Anna said as she went brew the drinks

"It's like you're addicted to it."

"It comes with the job." Nathan simply shrugged it off.

"Should've become an officer instead of a doctor."

"I would rather die than work with you Michael ."

"You bi-"

"Hey, hey. It's rare for Nathan to get a break, Less so at the same time as you. Ao let's not fight, kay?"

"Thank's Anna." Nathan smiled.

"Anyways…. You won't believe who I met!!" Anna's eyes sparkled as she spoke

""Who?"" The 2 customers asked at the same time.

"Guess!"

"…"

"..."

The two guys looked at each other, looked back at the girl and came to an agreement.

"The Coffee is quite good"

"So is the Tea. I'll be coming here more often"

"Me too"

"WAIT A MINUTE!! Can't you guys entertain me a bit?"

Michael quickly interjected "Anna, with how many people you knew in highschool, it's almost impossible for me to guess who you met"

"That might be the most amount of words you've strung together, Michael ."

"Shut up Nate. But you get my point."

"Ughhh. Fine! I met up with Emily."

"Emi-who?" Michael asked.

Nathan obviously didn't know who Emily was as he didn't go to the same highschool that Anna and Michael had gone to. So he just sat back, enjoyed his coffee while the two of them conversed.

"Don't tell me you forgot about Emily. Emily Chloe…"

"OH THAT GIRL YOU HAD A MASSIVE CRU-"

"SHUT UP!" Anna launched forward from the counter and blocked his mouth from uttering another word. Michael removed her hands from his mouth and started speaking.

"I don't remember ever talking to her though…"

"That's cause you didn't."

"Whose Chloe and why does she have 2 first names?" Nathan's curiosity peaked so he decided to poke his nose into the conversation.

Michael chuckled a bit before explaining to him who Chloe was. "Chloe is the person who Anna had a massive crush on during highschool. She was also her partner in volleyball and they were great friends. Though I never understood why."

"What do you mean?" Nathan asked.

"She was super quiet. Like she never talked to anyone apart from Anna. She was also a massive nerd and would get the highest scores."

"She doesn't sound like the type of person Anna would talk to. How did you even know she liked her anyways?"

"Anna told me. And I was the only one who knew about it too."

Nathan stared at Michael , turned his head to Anna and spoke "You trusted him with such a secret."

"He practically begged me to tell him. He was also surprisingly good at keeping it a secret."

"I honestly didn't expect that."

"Don't you ever doubt m-" Michael was rudely interrupted by the door behind him opening as another customer entered the little shop.

Anna's attitude immediately changed into one appropriate for handling customers. The young man went towards the front of the counter and was greeted by her.

"Good morning. What would you want to drink, sir?"

"I would like some black tea please."

"That would be 2 euros please."

The young man removed his wallet and removed 2 euros from it. He then placed it on the counter.

"Thank you. Please take a seat and your tea should be brought in a couple minutes."

He then went and took his seat. Anna went behind the counter and started to make some black tea.

The day went by fast as the 3 friends continued talking with the occasional customer coming in. Although the cafe isn't very well known, each client left with a satisfied feeling and that's all that mattered to Anna. It was about 3:30 when the door opened once again. Anna's expression was just about to change when she looked at the person who entered.

"Oh, hey Emily!"

The two guests turned their heads immediately to see who this mysterious Emily was, only to be met by a gorgeous woman wearing a turtle-necked sweater, a skirt with some long leggings behind them. Her ruby red eyes looked at the shorter girl and the two friends.

"Good afternoon Anna… and you two…" A much more deeper voice than anticipated entered the unknown people's ears.

"Ah right. Those two are my friends. This guy right her is Michael . You might remember meeting him in highschool… or maybe not. And this one is Nathan. Massive nerd and a doctor.

Nathan, Michael . This is Emily Chloe."

"Nice to meet the both of you," Emily said.

"Nice to meet you to miss Chloe," Nathan took initiative and greeted the menacing lady in front of her.

"Emily is fine." Emily Took a seat next to the pair.

"What do you want to drink, my dear customer?"

A slight chuckle escaped her lips before she asked. "Can I have a cup of coffee please?"

"One cup of coffee coming right up."

Anna went back again to brew her friend some coffee.

"So you are the famous Emily that Anna kept mentioning." Michael tried to start a conversation

"All good things I hope"

"Of course!!" Anna shouted from the background.

"SHUT UP, She isn't talking to you right now" Michael shouted back

"So what do you do for a living?" Nathan asked timidly.

"I work as a teacher at Silver Creek highschool."

"Oh, what domain?"

"Physics."

"So you went to uni for Physics?"

"Yes. I have."

"That's nice…"

"Umm-"

"And here's your cup of coffee" Anna interrupted before the silence turned awkward.

"Thank you. I'll be taking my leave." Emily said

"Aww, already?" Anna gave a slight pout

"I have some work to do at home."

"Alright… see you then"

Emily gave a short wave behind her back as she walked away. She took a sip of the coffee and muttered to herself:

"Sweet as always."

The three friends still in the cafe looked at each other before Michael spoke.

"Guess she isn't popular with the students."

"Michael!!" Nathan shouted, though in much more a whisper tone due to there being customers nearby.

"You can't say I'm not right. You could feel how awkward that was."

Nathan was about to say something before he heard Anna chuckling behind the counter.

"You're right. That was awkward as fuck." she said 'Just like I remember it…'

(AN: I have no clue on the cost of coffee and tea btw. I'm also not European so idk the prices for this kind of stuff. Dont judge me pls <3)
