-Chapter 25- The Unnamed Dungeon III

Arthur Leywin P.O.V.

Diana chants a wind spell pushing away all the fog in the room to reveal the mana beast looming over us waiting for us to make the wrong move, apparently we just made it.

Looming over us was something indescribable. It had no skin or muscle but just what looked to be a floating rib cage and skull made of ice, the bone structure looked similar to that of a snake. Where the tail would have been it emits a fog-like smoke. (Look up an Ice Wraith from Elder Scrolls)

"T-Th-That thing, That's an S-class mana beast," Diana mutters. It roars, making those of us who aren't AA-class paralyze in fear.

Great just what we needed, an S-class mana beast…

The mana beast begins to charge up what looks to be a breath attack, "Lucas uses a flame barrier spell!" I yell to Lucas who was staring terrified at the mana beast, he snaps out of it and quickly chants the spell erecting a barrier to cover us all.

Just in time for the mana beast's breath attack to shoot out a plume of fog spreading out, freezing everything it comes in contact with. Thankfully Lucas's barrier was strong enough to resist the S-class mana beast's breath attack.

"Everyone gets to the door! We need to find a way out of here!" I yelled as we all then began to charge to the door. We did everything we could do to pry it open to no avail. It was then the S-class mana beast launched a large ice attack.

Ice spikes began emerging from the ground approaching towards us. We all leap out of the way. But several of us got injured in the process, I was fine but without the others helping there was no way in hell we could hold off the mana beast.

I looked back to the door to see if there was a way I could possibly make an exit but the opportunity presented itself on its own. The ice spikes the mana beast launched broke a large hole in the wall large enough for us all to escape. I ran over and under protection from the Ice spikes blocking its vision from me. I began to conjure another Ice bridge for everyone to cross. When it was completed I announced, "Everyone get across the bridge!"

I waited until most of the party to cross, first Diana then followed by Aaron. It was Jasmine and Adam who wanted me and Lilia to cross first to make sure we were safe, but out of the corner of my eye, I saw the S-class mana beast preparing another large attack. I turned to the bridge and began to try crossing it before I then ran into the end of a staff. The end of the staff was pointed towards my chest.

Lucas was pointing his staff at me, "You can hold it off long enough for me to flee. Can't you? He says with a wicked grin, before launching a fire attack launching me back. Lucas crossed the bridge then shattered it leaving me and my party abandoned in the Bosses room.

"Damnit, Lucas!" I yell as he runs off escaping the danger of the dungeon.

I see the S-class mana beast finish the spell it was preparing as it launches another plume of smoke at me and the rest. I run to them and grip them in my arms as I chant the spell for Phoenix's coat to cover us in a smaller flame barrier. Thankfully it shielded all of us from the mana beast's breath attack.

But it wasn't strong enough for us and our bodies were cold with ice growing on our skin. It was only Adam and me still standing.

"Adam, I'm going to create another Ice Bridge. I need you to take Lilia and Jasmine and cross the bridge with them."

"You're gonna follow us across right?" Adam says concerned.

"Yes, just make sure you get them out of the dungeon safely though." He looked confused on what I had just said and picked up the two unconscious party members. I began to make an ice bridge for the third time in a row. Once it was completed Adam crossed it with the two unconscious party members on his shoulders. He looks back to see me expecting me to cross.

I begin to cross but the Ice mana beast roars using mana to enhance its strength of it. The sound was strong enough to begin to shatter the bridge under me, I was then forced to return to the boss's room before the bridge made me plummet to my doom.

"Dammit you beast, you really want to play?" I stare at the mana beast in its eyes. "Then let's play." I begin to mutter the chant for Ice Age as I run towards the mana beast.

I finish the spell and launch a large glacier of ice at the mana beast who countered it with its own. "Let's see who's Ice is stronger shall we?"

I can feel my hunger for a battle seep into my mind, my memories of the duels as King Grey make me want to fight more. I begin to chant for my two strongest Ice spells. White Fire and Absolute Zero.

I launch the freezing cold flames at the beast making ice grow on its rib cage and spread fast. Distracting it I then launch my spell Absolute Zero encasing it entirely in ice. Not only the mana beast but nearly the entire room in ice. "Not gonna make the same mistake as last time." I think back to the Flame Serpent Incident.

I then chant the words for my final spell, Black Lightning. I shoot a compressed laser at the glacier of ice encasing the S-class mana beast and shattering the ice with it inside. The mana beast shatters into hundreds of pieces, it slowly begins to reform itself as if it was made of ice but I use black lightning to accelerate myself even faster and I run full speed to where I spotted the beast's mana core. It was falling out of mid-air as the beast reformed itself around it. I quickly jump up and snatch the beast core in midair causing the reforming process to stop.

I land on my back hitting the hard ground. I painfully lay there out of breath while gripping the beast's core in my hand. I look up towards the ceiling and realize that I was a dumbass. The ceiling was now collapsing onto the floor, the same floor that I was on. Why you ask because I froze the entire room and then shattered the ice.

I get up and try to run to the exit, I get to the door of the exit and realize I have to make a new bridge, my mana reserves were too low for that but I had to try anyway. I kneel down and begin preparing the spell I had nearly dodged every falling rubble until I got here. But I got unlucky and one hit me in the back pushing me forwards into the deep ravine. Making me plummet down hundreds, maybe thousands of yards.

Welp this is how I die…
