CHAPTER 3 : FINALLY FOUND YOU

When they arrived ,a rift of nostalgia hit Nathan hard . He witnessed miles and miles of water invade his town , a place he shared and spent all his childhood days and memories. He saw countless rescuers trying their bit and aiding as many people as possible. "Let's head towards the town square, I believe that's where they are hosting all the victims . It's going to be the best place to start your search " the captain said leading Nathan to the town square. They ventured into the building and the scene was displayed was heart wrenching. He saw a lots of people lying helplessly on the floor with either a missing arm or leg . Others either injured so bad or watch their loved ones struggle in pain. Nathan walked through trying to spot any familiar person, he worked from corridor to corridor looking for his family or at least a friend." If you can't find your family member please follow me to the search room immediately " a nurse voice out holding a slip of check out papers." Nurse! Nurse! I can't find my mother and sister its been a while now and I still can't find no traces of them. Please help me" Nathan said feeling scared, anxious and frustrated." Please follow me to the identification room, there you can search through the bodies to find which of them is your family member" the nurse said ticking and writing on the Checkout sheet not even sparing Nathan a look." Bodies? What does that mean?" Nathan mumbled underneath his breath feeling uncertain about where the nurse is taking him." Please follow me "the nurse said leaving towards the identification as Nathan tailed her steps following her into the room. When they arrived ,a rush of cold air and awful smell fit his senses." Where are we? " Nathan asked feeling uncomfortable with the smell."the identification room, obviously. I will need you to lift the white sheets slightly from the head to identify if any of them is a family member ". The nurse retorted waiting impatiently for Nathan to carry out with a search. Nathan didn't know what was going on but, he did realize that the people lying on the beds with white covers were all dead." Why are you letting me search for my family amongst the Dead, what are you trying to mean here nurse" Nathan said feeling his body shake in fear of recognizing his only family covered under a white cloth." Please follow the instructions , there are people waiting for their turn" the nurse set sparing a look at Nathan for the first time. Nathan walked slowly lifting the sheets of all the bodies, holding onto a thin shred of hope that his family was still alive. He reached out for the last body which looked petite like it belonged to a child, as was going for the sheet his heart rate skipped a beat and the dread seeping inside him raised to the maximum. He didn't know why, but he felt the last body meant something to him and his hand just didn't want to move. The fear paralyzed him as a tear unconsciously dropped from the corner of his eye." Why am I crying, I haven't even opened the sheet yet" he mumbled to himself gathering a little courage to lift the white Cloth." Maya! Oh no how could...you ..." Nathan stammered not knowing what to say as Tears run down his cheeks remembering his dear childhood friend. He hurriedly left the room with a heavy heart and confused mind. A piece of him felt glad he didn't see his mother or sister on the death bed but seeing his friend gone made him realized that, it's a long shot finding his family alive. He roamed the whole center for two whole days yielding no results in his search." Kiddo is being two days since we started this search, I don't think your family is here" the captain said tapping and comforting Nathan by the shoulder." But we can't just leave, I know in my heart that they are here, I'm just not searching hard enough" Nathan said passing his hand through his hair frustratingly." I just came here to tell you the ship leaves tomorrow at dusk and since your home is no more maybe you can come with us to travel the Seas" the captain said trying to give Nathan some Assurance that he's not alone." Thank you but I need space to think right now so if you can please excuse me "Nathan said leaving to get a breather. He got out of the center and a swarm of people overwhelmed him almost trumping over him. He saw a lot of rescuers bringing in more victims towards the emergency unit." Hurry! The little girl isn't going to make it" one of the rescuous shouted loud dropping the little girl on the emergency trail bed driving through the corridor towards the emergency unit." Pave way! Move out!" The rescuer shouted trolling the trail bed as fast as he could. Nathan who saw this immediately made way for the Victim. Just the moment the trail bed brushed past him, his eyesight immediately notice the features of the Victim paying Close attention to her face." Why does that girl resemble Andy so much.....Andy?...Andy! Hey wait !" Nathan shouted out realizing he'd just found his sister. He ran faster than he'd ever run chasing the speeding trail bed just before it entered the emergency unit." Andy!, I can't believe I found you I'm so... I just ..." he paused when he saw the cut embedded deep within Andy's flesh. He trembled at the sight of it and before he could even talk, the trail bed was pushed into the emergency unit.
