The knife went flying toward the wolf and looked like it was going to hit it, however, the wolf quickly dodged the knife and didn't even get a scratch from the attack. After avoiding the knife, it became stuck into the ground.
While they were continuing the game of chase, Ethan pulled the knife towards him and it flew back into his hand, where he then looked at it and realized that the wolf likely smelled the blood that it was made out of.
Ethan continued to run after the wolf, however, he closed his eyes and focused on making the presence of the blood completely disappear. After half a minute he finished masking its presence and opened his eyes, then threw the knife again.
The knife was aimed perfectly at the wolf, however, much like how Ethan figured out where the wolf was, it sensed the knife flying towards it because of the disturbance in the shadows. Yet it wasn't able to completely dodge it.
The knife nicked the back leg of the wolf and Ethan immediately noticed a sharp decrease in its speed even though the wound shouldn't have caused any damage to its leg. As if a response to Ethan closing in, the wolf jumped up and began to rise through the shadows into the world above.
Ethan also quickly began to rise through the shadows and soon made it back into the woods, however, the wolf was nowhere to be found and he couldn't sense its presence like before when he saw it eating the rabbit.
Ethan quickly jumped up then kicked off one of the trucks of the trees and grabbed a branch, then closed his eyes and began to stretch out his senses for the small wound he had made on the wolf. However, he wasn't able to find it, but he did find a scent that made him start to drool.
Ethan quickly opened his eyes, which seemed to be brightly glowing, then began to run across the branches towards the delicious scent he had smelled while looking for the wolf. It took less than five minutes to find the source of that scent, but he was shocked by what he found.
He could see a horse-like creature, though it was slightly larger than the average horse, and it had a horn coming out of the center of its head. Though that wasn't the part that shocked him.
The creature was a mixture of black and a darkish red, while its horn was blood red, and its eyes were a pale red. He could see that there was blood dripping from its mouth and Ethan watched it move its head down, seeing it eating the wolf he had injured earlier.
'What the hell…. That's not a Bicorn and even if it was it wouldn't be eating the wolf-like that…. I can sense the vague feeling of holy energy from it, but it seems all too distant for it to be a normal Unicorn…. There's also the fact of the outward appearance….'
Ethan watched the unnatural Unicorn continue to feast on the wolf's flesh and blood then after a few minutes he realized something that shouldn't be possible and that same thing made his heart race.
'It's become Vampiric somehow…. That shouldn't be possible in any way…. But the truth is before my eyes…. The thing I want to know is why this fact excites me and why I crave its blood so badly, the wolf it's feasting off of doesn't even interest me when I'm in its presence.'
Ethan gritted his teeth then took a deep breath and closed his eyes for several seconds before he opened them again and came up with a plan to kill it. A small smirk formed across his face and he knew that with the excitement he was going through that, this plan would work.
Ethan placed his hand on the trunk and slowly it began to crystalize with ice, then the ice began to slowly work its way down the trunk and across the ground until it encased the bottom of the Unicorn's hoofs with ice.
'Since Vampiric creatures can't feel the cold, it shouldn't feel this much, but as soon as I start moving it up further it'll try to flee. I need to be quicker now.'
Ethan poured more of his Mana into the ice on the trunk and it began to quickly encase the back legs of the Unicorn, and like he thought it tried to flee. It was able to break one of its legs out of the ice, however, it broke the other.
He quickly jumped down and slit his wrist open while falling, forming his blood into the shape of a dagger. As soon as he landed he dashed towards the Unicorn and ready the daggered in his hand.
'It'll heal fast because it's Vampiric and it has just fed, I'll need to be faster than it can heal.'
Ethan could see that its leg was starting to heal and it was trying to get away, however, he threw the dagger at its neck and it pierced it. A smirk formed on his face as he saw the blood dagger being absorbed into the Unicorn and after a few seconds it collapsed onto the ground.
He walked over to it and could see the fear in its eyes as it looked at him. Ethan then held his hand out and used the same technique to collect the blood as he did with the elk and boar, once it had lost all of its blood he expected it to turn to ash, instead it was just shriveled.
Ethan looked at the four golf ball-sized orbs of blood in his hand and could feel his hunger getting worse the more he stared at them. Eventually, he placed one of them in his mouth and the flavor was like nothing he could describe, however, it was familiar at the same time.
He let the blood in the orb melt in his mouth so he could savor the flavor of it, but soon after the first one was gone he swallowed the rest. Despite how much he loved the flavor of the blood, his hunger got the better of him.
Ethan then looked over at the wolf that the Unicorn had taken down and began to extract the blood from it in the same fashion he's done before. From what was left of the wolf he was able to get two blood orbs and quickly consumed them, not caring about the flavor.
Like before he stumbled a slight amount but caught himself then began to skin and take parts from both of the creatures next to him, before sending the parts to the cave and returning himself.
He harvested the skin from both of the creatures, since the unicorn only damaged the neck of the wolf. Along with the claws and fangs from the wolf, then the horn and fangs from the unicorn.
