Chapter Eighty-One: The Future Awaits
"Are you saying that if I become good enough one day, I'll be worthy of being with Ethan Knight?" Lydia Moore's voice was unwavering, filled with an inner strength. "Do you really think that someone like you could ever reach that level?" Angie Knight scoffed, her contemptuous laugh reflecting her disbelief that this girl, in her current state, could ever transform. It was sheer arrogance.
"Is that true or not?" Lydia Moore repeated her question clearly.
Angie Knight sneered, spinning around to face her. "If that day ever comes, perhaps I might consider it." But she was certain that such a day would never arrive.
"Thank you. I hope you'll remember your promise today." A confident light flickered in Lydia Moore's eyes. From the day she decided to become strong and brave, she had resolved never to give up, no matter what challenges she faced. She believed that if she persevered, a miracle would eventually happen.
Downstairs, a driver holding a black umbrella respectfully ushered Angie Knight into the back seat of a luxurious limousine, which then drove off into the gloomy rain. I will prove to you that I am worthy of standing beside Ethan Knight. I will not give up. Watching the car fade into the rain and mist, Lydia Moore silently vowed to herself…
The bright lights reflected off the transparent glass, bringing Lydia Moore back from her memories to the present. It was because of this that she had transferred to Sakura Academy, striving to become better. But… should she forget all of that because of Aaron King? No! Ethan Knight was a dream she could never abandon. One day, she would return to her old school, and she would prove that she had earned the right to stand by his side. She would show that she was not someone to be looked down upon.
As for Aaron King, since she couldn't bear to hurt him, she would let things take their natural course. Maybe his feelings for her were just a passing fancy, and perhaps… they could still remain friends in the future. She hoped so.
Lydia Moore stood up and placed the crystal vase back on the windowsill, then turned off the lamp. The silence of the room merged with the quiet night outside.
The next morning, fluffy white clouds drifted leisurely across the sky. Lydia Moore stood by the window, diligently reviewing her lessons while the music from Elena Rivers' violin flowed smoothly through the room. Soon, the phone on the table began to ring cheerfully. Lydia Moore picked it up, a relaxed smile playing on her lips. "Yes, okay, I understand." She closed the phone and turned around to find Elena Rivers watching her with a complicated expression.
"Was that Aaron King?" Elena paused her playing. "Yes." Lydia Moore nodded. "Why?"
Lately, Aaron King had been calling more frequently, but Lydia Moore usually hesitated before answering. Today, however, she seemed so natural. Could it be… "Have you decided to accept him?" Elena Rivers asked uncertainly.
"Yes, but I won't give up on my dreams because of him." Seeing the doubt in Elena's eyes, Lydia Moore smiled and explained, "I can't bear to hurt him, so I've decided to go along with it for now. If in the end, someone has to get hurt, then I hope at least he can keep some beautiful memories. No matter what happens in the future, as long as he's happy now, that's all that matters." She just wanted to see his pure, innocent smile like that of an angel. She didn't want to think too much about anything else.
Elena Rivers didn't say anything more. She silently resumed playing her violin, but her heart grew heavier. Happiness often makes people increasingly greedy without them realizing it. In the end, would Aaron King really be willing to let go?
Ten minutes later, Lydia Moore arrived downstairs right on time. Aaron King's eye-catching red convertible was already parked boldly in the middle of the road. Seeing her approach, he arrogantly honked the horn twice. "Are you a turtle? You took forever to come down." He complained, his handsome face exuding an air of dominance.
"But didn't you say nine o'clock? I came down exactly on time," Lydia Moore replied with a smile. "Idiot!" Aaron King glared at her fiercely. "Get in the car!" "Where are we going?" Lydia Moore noticed that he was dressed casually today, as if prepared for an outdoor activity.
"Just get in the car!" Aaron King frowned in annoyance. This idiot really asked too many questions. Did she think he was going to kidnap her?
"Oh…" Sensing the tension in his voice, Lydia Moore obediently got into the passenger seat. The car roared to life and sped off, carrying with it the envious gazes of the students nearby.
The amusement park, the place that brings the most happiness and joy to people. Here, everyone carries a simple, childlike hope in their hearts. Groups of tourists wandered through the park, which resembled a fairytale castle, eagerly heading to different attractions to enjoy the variety of games. Many people gathered at their favorite spots to take photos, and the park was filled with laughter. Amidst the crowd, a handsome young man caught everyone's attention.
Seeing the constant stream of visitors, Lydia Moore still couldn't believe that Aaron King had brought her here. However, as she had expected, despite his cool and arrogant exterior, he was still as pure and innocent as a child at heart. She couldn't help but laugh.
