Diana stopped biting her fingernails, a soft smile gradually growing on her lips.
"You're mine, sir, only mine. She cannot have you." She shook her head.
"I have to kill her! I'll kill-"
A firm grip secured her neck in the beat of a heart, and before she could even process what had just happened, she was slammed right into the nearest wall, her head smacking painfully against its roughened hardness.
The air was knocked out of her lungs as she choked out a mouthful of blood that had rushed to her throat immediately.
Her eyes rolled back to her skull, and she gripped Caesar's hand, struggling to free herself. Breathing had become hard for her, and she was reaching, fighting for even a whiff of breath.
"If you ever lay a hand on Adeline..." Caesar's eyes were burning with suppressed killing intent, one that sent chills running down her spine. "You won't be able to imagine what I'll do to you, Diana."
His voice was barely loud, more of a whisper that caused goosebumps to rise on her skin immediately. "Know. Your. Place!"
His warning was well received because Diana had begun fretting, whimpering, and struggling in his grip to escape—to run away from him just for a few seconds.
She needed a moment to breathe, to digest the fear he'd scarred inside of her. Never, since five years of knowing him, had she ever seen him like that. Being an omega made things even worse, to the extent that she'd begun sobbing silently.
Handling standard alphas was possible and slightly hard for her, but withstanding supreme alphas was impossible. A mere growl from them could have her curled up on the floor, whimpering in pain and fear.
Omegas were the types who sought more comfort than gave. And the only ones who were capable of giving them that need were alphas, be it a standard one or a supreme one.
Now, the pain of being frightened by one was immeasurable, and it'd left her painfully breathless.
Caesar had never raised his hand on her, nor had he ever threatened her like that since knowing him. This was the first, and it was all because of that woman.
"Get out of my office!" He let go of her and walked back to sit down on the couch with his legs crossed.
Diana, who had plummeted to the floor, breathed and coughed frantically. Her neck was sore, and her throat was hurting almost as if her vocal cords had nearly been destroyed.
"S-sir…" She hiccuped, raising her teary eyes to look at him. "W-why? I love you, you know that. W-w-why are you protecting her? I don't understand."
Caesar uncrossed his legs and pointed to the floor, his fingers twirling over the area in front of him with a cold grin.
"Come closer."
Without thinking, Diana crawled towards him, the tears from her eyes falling onto the floor.
Caesar gently took hold of her chin and lifted her head to look into her gray orbs. " Adeline is someone I'm quite interested in. I have unfinished business with her, so keep your hands off her, hm?"
"Be good and behave." He wiped off her tears with his thumb. "Don't make me hurt you. Seeing you cry like this makes me uncomfortable. I don't like it."
Being a supreme alpha, one thing he couldn't stand was watching omegas cry in front of him. It truly was a weird feeling that didn't sit well with him.
"You'll be good, won't you?"
Diana didn't protest, instead, she agreed and stood up to her feet.
"Y-you can't love her, sir, you can't," she drawled, unwilling to leave the office. "There is only me and-"
"Diana, please leave him alone." The familiar voice that belonged to none other than Yuri sounded as he walked into the office, closing the door. "I'd like it if you took your leave now."
He walked over, bowing respectfully to Caesar. "Supreme alpha."
Caesar sighed and watched as Diana's face scrunched in anger.
"Yuri, this has nothing to do-"
"Shhh." Yuri shut her up and grabbed her by the arm. "Shoo, out you go." He dragged her towards the exit and pushed her outside. Despite his lean figure, his strength was no joke. One could say that nature sort of cheated him.
Caesar took a sip of his wine and rested back on the sofa. "What are you doing at my office? You hate coming all the way here."
Yuri rolled his eyes and locked the door. He strolled over and sat down on the sofa opposite him.
"There is something that I have to talk to you about. It's very important," he said.
"Hm? What is it?" Caesar's eyes followed the whirling movement of the wine as he busily slouched the glass from one side to another.
Yuri hesitated, biting his lower lip in deep contemplation. He looked at him and mumbled, "Promise you won't get angry."
"Huh?" Caesar shot him a confused glance, unsure what he meant by that. "What the hell did you do? Did you fuck up behind my back?"
Yuri whipped his head to his left, averting his gaze. An awkward smile tugged at his lips. "Oh…I'm not the one who messed up. Hahaha." He laughed nervously, muttering to himself, "But you sure will want to kill someone."
Caesar cocked an eyebrow, starting to get a bit miffed by his presence. "If you have nothing to talk about, leave my office and-"
"Rurik is selling the pills to the Petrovs," Yuri interjected, immediately standing up and giving him a safe distance.
Caesar froze. "What?" He shifted his gaze to Yuri, and his brows crumpled, uncomprehending. "What did you just say?"
Yuri swallowed hard and put on a cheerful smile, wanting to lighten up the mood. "Um, it's not, er, exactly Nikolai's fault. Rurik bailed on him and switched to the Petrovs."
"We don't know what the Petrov's offered, but for such rare pills that expensive, they must have offered quite a lot."
Caesar set the glass down and stood up from the sofa. His footsteps were heavy as he approached Yuri, whose mannerisms faltered immediately. The atmosphere had changed, and the air suddenly felt tight in Yuri's chest.
Yuri backed away from him till his back hit the huge glass window in the office.
Dammit… Why did I even agree to do this?
Caesar stood before him, completely towering above the slender, shorter man, cowering fearfully away from him. "Why are you just telling me this now?" he questioned.
Yuri remained still, legs frozen in place and brows wrinkled into a deep-set frustration. He gulped. "I-I only just found out. Sir, please calm down."
"Are you out of your mind?" Caesar snarled at him in building anger. "You walked in here to tell me that Rurik switched because Nikolai messed up?"
"So he was lying to me all along?"
