I Did Something Bad

Alexa ran a hand through her hair. Her face was emotionless as she stared at her brothers laughing heavenly.

'What's wrong with that? Uncle Ken enrolled us in the public school so he could be with Auntie Novie,' she huffed, remembering the past and how her family used their cuteness for their advantages has made her realized how selfish they are.

'Yeah, you're right," Ethan agreed and continued, 'Come to think of it, he really used us a lot. Tsk,'

Ethan said, shaking his head with disappointment.

When the last ring buzzed, the voice of an old woman spoke from the speaker on the corner of the wall.

'Students and teachers, the class will start soon, please proceed to your designated classroom.'

After the triplets heard the announcement, their eyes widened. They immediately ran downstairs and left the building.

As they reached their classroom, the other students were already inside.

Leo panted as they stopped in front of their classroom. When his eyes lowered to his uniform which was half wrinkled and wet from his sweat, a silent gasp let out from his lip.

He knows that he will see Cassie soon, so he decided to sneak out for a bathroom.

On the other side, Alexa took in a long sharp, she ran like her life was in a brick of death. She was breathing so hard as they all entered the room. Ethan was in front of her while Leo was at her back.

She flickered her eyes, sweat dropping on her cheeks from her forehead. She grabbed the hanky she had in the secret pocket of her skirt and wiped her forehead.

'You are late,' she heard the voice of a man from somewhere.

'Alexa look, I think he's going to be our math teacher,' Ethan elbowed her stomach to get her attention.

'What?' she snarled, wondering why Ethan was not moving.

When she looked at where Ethan's eyes were looking, her face hardened.

One of her brows rose while her lips parted with shock.

And just like Ethan, Alexa elbowed her brother Leo standing behind her.

'Leo, how could Mr. Coins be our math teacher? isn't he too young?' shock was in Alexa's voice as she tried to stop Leo from escaping the class.

'I don't know but, can you cover for me? I need to fix my hair,' Leo whispered.

Alexa looked at him with a flat face, seeing the sweat on his forehead, she decided to help him.

'Mr. Coi – Teacher, is that a book?' Alexa said pointing at the teacher's table in the corner.

When the teacher turned to look at where she was pointing, Alexa pushed Leo out of the room.

At the Café.

After talking to Alejandro for almost an hour, Selena finally rose from her bed. Talking to Alejandro so casually has made her day.

Humming in an energetic tune, Selena went to the bathroom. She did her morning ritual and with the same bright face, she went downstairs.

Daniella told her that she will need to catch up with the days she missed.

Her heart thumped uncontrollably as she entered the kitchen. Seeing her uncle and auntie helping each other has made her smile.

So, this is what a normal married life looks like huh! She thought the bright smile stayed on her lips.

'Selena,' hearing a familiar voice, Selena stopped from entering the kitchen and turned her body around.

She saw Barney in his police uniform and reminiscing how nice he was at the first meeting, her smile widened.

'Hey! Oh god, I missed my dinosaur!' as she said that with a loud voice, her arms stretched to embrace him.

Barney was startled for a moment, not expecting her to be this active. She was acting like a three-year-old kid that ate a box of chocolate. She was full of life and her face was shining like a sun.

Before he could respond to her embrace, Selena had pulled herself.

Both of her hands were on his arms. His face was painted with confusion, seeing his reflection at her shining eyes has made him realized that she must be on cloud nine right now.

'What's happening?' he asked.

Selena turned and entered the kitchen, he followed her inside and said his greeting to Selena's family.

'Nothing. I am back now so, are you here to help me?' Selena's eyes blinked, hoping for Barney to say yes.

Like a shy little boy, Barney brushed a hand on the back of his head, 'I am afraid not. My suspension has been lifted so I am back to work. I just came here to see if you are back.'

Selena blew her mouth, disappointed but, glad that Barney got his job back.

As she prepared the ingredients for her cupcakes, she said, 'Fine Barney. Anyway, have you talked to Alejandro?'

She avoided his eyes, unsure whether to tell him or let Alejandro tells himself, after all, he's Barney's friend.

'Yes. Congratulation. That's very quick!' Barney said as he peeked at Selena.

'Yeah well. I am thirty duh! I doubt someone would consider me later,' she facetiously said.

'For sure there are a lot. You are just looking in the wrong direction,'

Selena's hand stopped in the air. She was holding an egg and was about to crack it open when Barney said those words.

She lifted her face to look at him. There was a sadness in his eyes, and she felt her heart throbbing by just watching him.

'Are you in love with someone?' she curiously asked. Barney had a look of a man who had just lost his beloved woman, his eyes were glooming and she was anxious to know why.

Barney stared at her, lips were sealed, not even the air could escape.

'No,' he forged a smile.

'Then why are you sad?'

Barney breathed, unsure of what to answer.

Eventually, he said, 'I lost my watch.'

Selena nodded, thinking how could he feel so down over a lost watch.

'Is it very important to you?' she asked – hands were busy mixing the ingredients.

'Yes, very much. But I lost it so I just hope the new owner would take care of-' he paused and sighed, his hand itched to touch her face but he knows that he can't, not anymore.

'Of it,' he continued.

Selena was focusing on baking that she didn't see the expression on Barney's face, though she could hear his heavy tone.

Maybe his family gave it to him. She thought.

As she takes the rolling pin inside the cabinet, her eyes saw Barney turning on the oven. He always knows what to do, and she doesn't even need to ask him, it was as if his mind has been programmed to always help and be on her side.

She beamed a sweet smile with that thought and decided to buy him a watch.
