As the God of Trickery, Loki was better than anyone at telling whether someone faked their death. But he wasn't the only one who could tell. Everyone watching the battle, all Rebels, saw what unfolded before them.
Primal Xerx had split his body into 10 Doppelgangers to attack the Rebels and break the Weave Seal. That had been a smart move, but it was only a trick, a feint to push Michael into believing he could kill multiple Doppelgangers before the Weave Seal would shatter.
However, all Michael achieved was to fall into a trap. He might have killed one of the Doppelgangers, devouring and corroding the 10th Doppelganger's Essence, crippling Primal Xerx forever, but the Primal didn't care. He'd conjured hundreds of Essence Swords made from highly compressed Essence, which was also strong enough to easily cut through the fabric of space and reality, and pierced Michael with all of them.
