DMMO Addict

It had been 2 weeks since Hanzo first received his DIVE device. His routine consisted of 8 hours of rest, followed by a day of gaming and eating. Some may say it was an awful lifestyle, however considering he had no backlash even when it came to his body becoming sick, Hanzo found it very comfortable.

Today, he planned on actually getting into the DMMO-RPG scene for the first time. He had practiced using the system and felt much more confident with it. Additionally, he found that his aim had become increasingly more precise after playing in first person the entire time. It had only been 2 weeks, but his entire schedule had been filled with DIVE practice and nothing else to worry about, thus his skills had improved at a nice pace.

"According to this forum, this is game is the best on the market at the moment. It seems to be newbie friendly but has good end game content too"

His next job was to familiarise himself with DMMO's, after all he will be spending the next few years of this life living and breathing nothing but Yggdrasil. It would be dangerous if he started playing and made major rookie errors that affect him in the long run, after all his life is on the line.

With a serious mindset, Hanzo started up the game and created a generic character. Originally, he entertained the idea of using an already made build, however he felt that it would be best if he was familiar with all sorts of types of roles. For example, Magic Support at the back of party formations or a Frontliner than can only use 2 handed weapons.

Even if he did have some idea of what sort of Yggdrasil character he wanted to make, he knew that the more experience he gained on this game, the easier it would be for him in the New World.

From what he could remember, there were various weapons that were not in Yggdrasil that seemed to be used in the New World, therefore it would help him if he could at least know the usage of various types of weapons and their counters.

After creating his build, Hanzo spawned into the world. Immediately, he was overwhelmed.

"Fuck... it's so bright"

He shielded his eyes from his surroundings. Compared to the war-like environment, the RPG elements truly shone brightly as the sun reflected off of the marble temples and buildings surrounding him.

"Right, so from what I have gathered, I should go and speak to any NPC's with the exclamation icon"

Little did Hanzo know, he had just set out to perform a fruitless endeavour.

Roughly an hour later, Hanzo was shouting at himself for his mistakes.

"Seriously! Who makes a game and then makes every single NPC have actual content? Shouldn't they be background characters?"

Despite his raging, he felt happy that he went through this experience now. At least next time he would be more prepared.

"Time to actually go and play"

Using the information he had gained from watching gameplay, he followed the route to the first 'Wild zone', a place where he can grind levels and loot with a few small quests to complete.

As he passed through the town gates, a vast expanse of fields filled his vision. Further away from town, he noticed a strange looking animal. It seemed to be alone, however there were others like it, but they all stayed close to their specific areas.

"Finally, let's try fighting in a DMMO"

He approached the beast slowly, trying to keep his sound to a minimum.

As he got closer, he noticed that it looked like a cow that had been corrupted by a wild plant. Thick vines grew around its body as it's head had a bright purple closed flower on it.

"If I recall correctly, that thing shoots poison"

Hanzo inched closer, his eyes staring at the flower. He took a deep breath before launching himself towards the back-left leg of the beast. His movement felt a lot faster than when he played an FPS, however he quickly adjusted and stopped inches before the beast, slashing his generic starter sword onto the beasts hind legs.

There was no sensation of cutting flesh, however Hanzo knew that his attack had sunken deep into the beast causing a lot of damage.

Hanzo pulled his sword out and jumped backwards to create some distance between him and the enraged beast.

The beast quickly recovered despite it's hampering injury and started to charge at him. It's weight causing Hanzos vision to slightly tremor as it closed in.

Although his heart raced at a speed it had never raced before, Hanzo tried his best to stay calm and waited for it to approach. As it was roughly a meter away, he stepped to the side with practiced movement and used both hands to slice the sword sideways cutting across the side of the beasts head.

Unfortunately, the cut was shallow and did not phase the beast as it twisted its head towards the direction of Hanzo.

Noticing its weird movements, Hanzo immediately threw himself to the left, abandoning all hopes of landing on his feet. Just as his body left its former position, a putrid purple liquid shot out from the flower atop the beasts head. Hitting the ground, a small amount of purple haze drifted within the area where it landed.

Hanzo immediately recognised the identity of the cloud. It was poison, although it was a low grade poison in this game, for rookies with low stats, it was deadly.

"This fight can't continue much longer, I will definitely be backed into a corner"

Hanzo recovered his position and waited once more for the raging beast to charge at him. It didn't take long for the beast to do exactly that. Just like a low levelled monster would, the simplistic beast retried its frontal attack, intent on pummelling Hanzo with its large body.

He closed his eyes as he tried to calm his frantically beating heart. Eventually, he felt the tremors in his vision become a lot more aggressive, causing his eyes to snap right open and his grip around the sword to tighten.

Just like last time, he dodged to the left, adjusting his position and planted his legs firmly into the ground.

However, this time, he lifted his sword directly up and pulled it down with the momentum of a waterfall. The silver blade followed a straight line and sliced directly through the beasts neck.

The beasts body fell to the floor and exploded into bright particles as it touched the ground.

Hanzo sat down on the spot, his face smiling brightly as he stared at the generic drop items.

"I just won... my first DMMO-RPG fight"

His excitement had peaked at this revelation. Although it was only a low-levelled enemy, it was his very first enemy he had killed in this genre and he did it by himself without dying. It filled him with motivation for the future.

"Well that's enough celebrating. Let's get back to work"

Months had passed and Hanzo was sat taking his daily break from the DIVE machine. He had come to realise that due to his Healthy body boon, he could spend a whole day without disconnecting from it. However, the mental strain caused him to feel horrible the next day, thus Hanzo had started to take hour long breaks alongside sleep whenever his mind felt fatigued.

As he was sat eating a sandwich, he was also browsing the Yggdrasil forum as usual. It seemed that recently, the activity on the forum had become a lot more lively, with a lot of speculations being posted. Although he did not care much for others opinions on it, he would often check out the threads posted by the official team of developers.

As per usual, he was mindlessly scrolling until something caught his eye. A small thread without many views, however what caught his eye was the author of the thread. It was the developers of Yggdrasil.

Clicking on the thread, Hanzo started to read, the more he read, the wider his smile grew. According to the post, the thread was only available to the first 1000 followers of the development team, as a result the view count was so long.

That was not what made Hanzo so happy, instead it was the contents of the post that stated 'Selected for pre-order of the game'.

This made Hanzo ecstatic as it game him insight into the nearing release date. However there was another perk to this pre-order and the true reason why only 1000 followers were selected, that being that if the players pre-ordered it using the link in the thread, they will have access to the game an extra month early.

This was a great advantage for anyone, especially for Hanzo who played games for 75% of the day.

Of course, like everything in life, there was a catch. Unlike when Yggdrasil will be released, the preorder price was a bit more expensive under the excuse of it being early access fees with small bonuses in game.

Not much was spoken about the in-game bonuses if they purchased, however they were given a deadline of 7 days to purchase using the link.

Naturally, Hanzo did not hesitate to clicked the link and complete the purchase. His body felt light as he finally saw proof of Yggdrasils release.

After making the purchase, he noticed he had received a message from the developers account.

Much like he expected, it was a Thank You message as well as a confirmation of being added to the early access list. More importantly though, it stated the date of the early access release. It seemed to be in half a months time.

"Alright! Finally, there's something to be excited about"

Hanzo finished up his break and went straight back to the DIVE machine. His body full of energy after receiving the good news.

"This mean's I have a few more weeks to improve even more, and it gives me some time to do some extra research"

Time passed by as Hanzo continued practicing.

Just a little note,

He has a name right now, but when he gets Transmigrated again, he will assume the name of his character. Thus it doesn't matter if you don't remember his name. It just makes it easier for me to write rather than referring to him as 'He', 'the man' and 'MC'
