Chapter 48: Past VS Future (2)

Adhitte confidently mediated between Dean and Helena. She held the wrist of Dean who was about to claw Helena and also held her friend's shoulder. Her gesture gave Dean and Helena a little distance. She seemed completely unfazed by the two great powers.

Because of Adhitte's interruption, Count Rubel whistled and commented, "That transcendent bastard... really close to my ideal type."

Arthur came to look at Count Rubel with a strange look. "You are a freak. Even the fight between a vampire and beast people you call beautiful and now that woman has become your ideal type. It looks like you need to have your eyes checked."

As usual, Count Rubel would not be defeated by Arthur's insults. "At least they are strong. Not like someone who is already thin, has no strength, and even the monthly rations are often cut too."

'Can I hit this jerk?'

Arthur cursed inwardly when he saw Count Rubel teasing him. That man even stuck his tongue out at Arthur to make him even more annoyed.

Leon removed his hand from Cindy's eyes. Though Cindy had seen worse things than that fight in the war between the Senova Empire and the Marithus Kingdom back then. Leon was really like Cindy's twin.

The girl held the clothes Count Rubel was wearing abruptly. She was still uncomfortable seeing Count Rubel's hair that looked like Whigeris, it was like awakening her trauma. Cindy tried to ask Count Rubel.

"Sir, is that woman okay to withstand the power of Leader-nim and Helena-nim?" Cindy said very politely to Count Rubel.

Arthur looked at Cindy with an uncomfortable look. It looked like the girl was going to start again with her rant about being a healer or something. That of course would be left to Count Rubel.

Count Rubel looked at the girl's hand that was on her clothes. He replied, "As I see it, that woman has a power between Dean-nim and Helena. It is suitable for her to mediate it. If not her, who will mediate? You?"

Cindy immediately misbehaved and take out her hand from Count Rubel's clothes. Arthur heard the conversation. According to his knowledge, Count Rubel was also an aura user but not a warrior or a knight. He used his aura to analyze things in his business. As of now, his guess to measure Dean and Helena's strength was probably correct.

'Damn it, does that mean Adhitte's level has gone up since being reset here? Indeed the protagonist's privilege, too many luxuries for him.'

Even Arthur himself was struggling to build his muscles back up, gaining the trust of those around him. However, Adhitte who had just arrived had already gained some benefits instead of him struggling.

Count Rubel stepped to the left, approaching Cindy. He avoided Arthur who somehow looked like he was about to go berserk. Arthur looks like a freak person now.

On the other hand, Adhitte, who was holding Dean and Helena, began to smile for the first time as things settled down. Adhitte showed tremendous strength while mediating between the two. They don't know what it was, but the trajectory of Adhitte's feet showed a faint blue light.

"Your ability has improved from last time, Miss." Dean tried to calm down his mind after the comment. His body slowly returned to its normal human form.

Adhitte just nodded. Of course she was getting stronger, during the week with Helena, Adhitte just kept on hunting. Apparently, that world was the source of mana. The natural forces there were so strong that Adhitte could quickly grow.

Adhitte opened his own status window. From afar, Arthur could easily read it. That man was really uncomfortable at only being able to peek at the status window without having it anymore. Adhitte looks so comfortable.

That woman said, "You shouldn't look at me like a normal human being rather than ordinary citizen here."

Her hand that was on Helena's shoulder dropped. That vampire thanked his partner. He also looked at Dean who seemed to have lowered his anger.

"If you want to gain her trust, let me join. I just want to help, not mess up your plans." Helena said without using her usual teasing tone. She was serious.

Dean wrinkled his forehead. "Those words came out of the mouth of someone who sent monsters into battle. How can I trust you?"

"I'm hunting the monster, I'm giving it medicine. How did I know that there was a surprise attack from the Senova Empire on the survivor army over there. It was purely accidental." Helena explained as she wiped away the blood in her mouth.

"How can I believe that? You could have been helping the enemy?" Dean was fishing again.

"Why would I interfere in human affairs when I'm not one of them? Do you hate me so much that you don't realize that the survivor troop's weapons are made from the raw materials of the monsters I'm hunting?" Helena let out ambiguous words.

Now Dean couldn't answer. It did seem strange that neither the survivor troops nor the knights sent from the Marithus Kingdom lacked weapons at all. Even though the number of people who could defend themselves was more than the supply of weapons sent by the center according to the data he obtained. Why was the supply even more than the data?

Dean looked at Helena and thought. Could something in his mind be true?

Clap!

Adhitte clapped her hands together once to get both of their attention. She intervened, "If you attack again, I'll kill you, man. The one offering cooperation was that weak guy over there, not you. I have nothing to lose by destroying you."

Although Adhitte said so, she was actually unsure of his own words. She could see Dean's strength despite his many mistakes.

Dean's level was still slightly higher than Adhitte's. However, that was not what made her hesitate. It was Dean's power statistics that were in error that made her hesitate.

Dean looked at Arthur suddenly. That man was staring at was surprised and said something to Cindy. Dean looked back at Adhitte again.

"In that case, the deal is extended. There's actually one person on our side who knows the conditions of this continent very well. I want the oldest creature here to study and explore with him." Dean explained the new conditions.

Helena covered her mouth and murmured in a teasing tone. "Ouch, it would be great if that person was a handsome man."

Arthur got out of Dean's office by using Cindy's levitation magic. The three people remained standing in the office.

"Is your fight over? If you still want to continue, I'll step aside first."

Arthur's words made Adhitte glare. That woman immediately pulled the slightly levitating Arthur down to the ground. That made Cindy's levitation magic not work.

"Can you contact Kalypt, Arthur?" Dean asked after Arthur's shoulder was held by Adhitte.

That man was held back by Adhitte so he couldn't do anything. "No, it's only the last time we met that I know his news. So what, isn't that asshole already a member of yours?"

"Are you upset with him?"

"He blackmailed me the first time we met." Arthur said irritatingly.

Dean ignored Arthur and turned back to Adhitte. Arthur recalled his first encounter with Kalypt back then. The embarrassing incident he experienced where Arthur went out of the dog hole when there was another door. Kalypt was so polite back then, he didn't realize he would end up being blackmailed just to meet Dean.

"You'll meet him later. He's one of the most wanted men on this continent." Dean said to Adhitte.

Adhitte removed his hand from Arthur's shoulder. That man immediately rolled his shoulders which felt strange. Adhitte wondered who the person in question was. "Then, isn't he a criminal?"

"No, he is a talented merchant who likes to seek information. That's why he's always absent." Arthur answered quickly.

「A bit suspicious. Arthur Rudolf, this person became the center among these talented people. Even though he himself looks the weakest and doesn't have any power. How can that be?"

Arthur could see the contents of Adhite's mind again. This time there was no error at all. He wonder what made her able to hear?

They didn't realize that all this time, the workers inside the base were watching them. Even some of the people working inside the building came out just to see their leader's battle with a hunter known among the merchant guilds.
