Chapter 80

Amara gives her brother a confused look. "Aren't you going to send Gabriel to Sam's room while he and Lucifer are there?"

Chuck shakes his head. "'Course not. Don't be ridiculous."

"How is that ridiculous? That's exactly what you've been doing this entire time," she reminds him.

"What? No, it's not!" he replies as if the idea is insane.

"How is that not what you've been doing?" Amara challenges.

"Because it's not! Where did you even get that idea?"

"Well, let me think," Amara replies, then counts on her fingers, "You've been controlling this whole thing since day one, so you locked everyone in the bunker together; you stuck the archangels together; you stuck everyone in pairs; you continuously messed with Michael, Lucifer, and Jo until they finally did what you wanted; you threw Gabriel in when Sam saw Jess again; you made sure Sam was there when you brought Kali in, and you've basically trapped everyone in the war room every single day for the last week. How did you reach the same conclusion about how you're running this?"

Chuck rolls his eyes. "Yeah, but all that was completely different. Different scenario, different goals, different methods."

"So what's your goal, then?"

"I have a lot of goals right now," Chuck replies. "Right now, there's only three couples I actually wanted to get together that are actually together — or, at least, I think one of them is a couple. I could be wrong about that. It's not very clear. Then there's Meg and Charlie, who I accidentally got together and decided to just roll with it. The rest of my — my ships, so to speak, are a work in progress. is the goal."

"So, who do you want to get together?" Amara asks, confused.

"You'll see," he replies mysteriously, the mutters, "Hopefully," under his breath. It will really depend on how well people cooperate. At this rate, he's beginning to wonder if this will ever work out.
