It was noon when Lucas finally stepped into the laboratory. The interior of the lab was all white, and it was circularly built 20 ft under the mansion. The lab was divided into many sections.
The data servers collected info automatically about any experiment, as well as a testing room to conduct experiments, and of course, the machine lab where Lucas would work.
Lucas, after going through the lab data, was pleased with Zaron's work. "The lab is quite good. There are many devices and room for upgrades as well." After stretching his back, Lucas breathed heavily, "Now then, shall we start?"
After which, Lucas entered the machine lab and started to go through all the data and information of engineering basics available on the super net. Eight hours had passed since Lucas last stood up, but still, a spark could be seen in his eyes as he finally breathed out heavily and closed his eyes.
"So interesting."
Lucas, after going through the info from the super net, came to understand many things.
Engineering consisted of many sub-types like cyber, mechanical, robotics, and so on. It was the foundation of the empire when it came to its development.
One could build robots, machines, human parts, and mechas that would allow one to surpass human abilities. But what attracted Lucas was human engineering, which involved the knowledge of the body as well as science, and most of the legendary experts of this world were actually the best combination of doctors and engineers.
Doctors focused on medicine, the human body, and disease. If engineering was the heart of development, then doctors would be the energy, the blood which sustained it. As for the Administrators, which included accountants, CEOs, and all, they would be the brain cells of this world.
The rulers would undoubtedly be the actual control center or the brain of this world.
Lucas knew that to be the best, he must harmonize between all these three occupations. As for the ruler occupation, it would come into picture a little later when he had real prowess.
But right now he understood that human engineering was what he should excel at.
Human engineering involved the upgrade of one's own body, replacing bones with metals to make them harder, replacing skin with fine metal to make it sturdier, replacing the heart with an artificial one that would pump better and faster, increasing one's output and performance.
But replacing body parts was not approved by many, so human engineering was not so popular. But many didn't know that there was also a part of human engineering called bioengineering, which enabled humans to grow by changing their DNA.
The sad part was that this bioengineering was not vastly researched as it was too difficult a job, as it involved the study of the complex DNA.
A DNA is the core of every being, different for everyone, and consisted of billions of helical strands, making it difficult to understand. But what made Lucas excited was that in the research papers that he found from some unknown source, it specified many interesting things. It stated,
"If one can actually select the DNA strand from living beings, these DNAs, which have come into existence through the best selection process known to man, which is evolution itself, then he/she will have no equal match. The difficulty in this process not only lies with the selection of such DNA strand, but it should also be harvested and replaced inside the target's body to enhance him/her."
This was a godsend opportunity for him, as he was the only one who could perfectly overcome all of the impossible difficulties in the process.
After thinking for a while, Lucas stood up and went to a cage containing rats, lizards, frogs, dogs, and cats as well. These were all for experimentation purposes. Lucas, after killing a rat, decided to harvest it. "If this works, then hahaha, not even the heavens can stop me," after breathing out some air, Lucas then murmured.
"Harvest DNA."

.
Lucas waited for 10 seconds, nothing happened. 50 seconds, nothing happened. Finally, Lucas went ahead and asked Alpha what was wrong.
"The system is not capable enough to perform the function.
Note: The system works on all information available but cannot create its own new information.
The system suggests carrying out the task manually. If successful, Mr. Lucas may invent something new. Best of luck, Mr. Lucas."
Lucas now sighed in relief, "It seems the system is just a source of information available and not the one who creates or explains this info. I should rely on myself more from now on."
After which, Lucas finally picked up the rat and unwillingly tasted its blood, wondering if this might work as he started thinking about harvesting.
Thud!
Lucas suddenly fell down and became unconscious.
