Sleep talking??

Emma woke up with the early morning sun kissing her face and giving her a tan without much thought, she climbed down the ladder of the bed and noticed the sleeping figure of her sister and decided to bug her.

"Beth, wake up."

"No."

"Why?"

"Because I am awake."

Beth looked at Emma's deadpanned look and turned around, sitting on her bed cross-legged before pouting making Emma hit her forehead with her hands at her foolishness.

"What did you dream about?" Beth had asked out of curiosity and not mockery which surprised Emma, as she wasn't used to the serious side of her elder sister and she had spent fourteen years of her life with her.

"Why are you asking me?"

"I couldn't sleep well due to someone saying her name and a boy's name, which got me excited." The joy from Beth's tone was overly sweet and cringe for her own taste.

"Really, what is the name I was saying in my dream state?"

Emma was curious about the name she mentioned after she was never attracted to the male population, whether the male was a classmate, a friend, a celebrity, or a fictional character. Fictional characters are imaginary friends, no matter how good a character is, they were made up by a person whether they were bored or wanted to make a character with the qualities they didn't or couldn't possess. A character is made from a person's imagination or memory, as they could be based on history or a close friend, enemy or family member.

Even her favourite in 'My Dreams' didn't make her falter after the author had shown the novel illustration of the characters. Real life people voicing and acting made such character lose their original charm as the readers would read with a specific voice for the characters of a novel, the live action movies of books could easily be ruined by the actor portraying a character, as their physical appearance would not match them. Such actions make loyal book readers like Emma gives them more than enough reason to not watch series or movies based on books.

"Matthew was the name, you kept mentioned in your dream.", Beth said in a knowing tone and leaving Emma irritated until she realized what her elder sister had said.

"Could you repeat that?"

"Is it the name?" Martin or do you suddenly have a crush on someone? My dear sister.", She was giggling about it not noticing the concerned look she had on her face forgetting Beth's word as she felt her teasing.

"Beth, you know my sexual orientation, right?"

"So, what?"

She urged Emma to continue, even if she knew the rest of the sentence.

"I am asexual which means that I am not attracted to either gender."

"But you aren't attracted to them sexually although you can have a romantic relationship with either gender, well aren't you lucky?"

Emma scoffed at her words.

"You clearly don't know the meaning of asexual."

"I certainly do unlike you the dense sister of mine."

Beth was irritated by her denial however the sound of the bell from the dining hall which meant it was time for breakfast and was summoning all the orphans to eat. Beth rushed to the bathroom and refresh her mouth with toothpaste leaving Emma, to scream at the top of her lungs to finish washing her mouth. Beth quickly took her bath with Emma looking at the other kids rush to the hall.

"Mother will agree with me." the words directed to Beth after she came out of the bathroom with the towel wrapped around her hair and the rest of her body. Beth was drying her thick black hair as it stuck to her body when it was wet.

She swirled and twirled her hair around which slapped Emma every once in a while, but simply walked out of her perimeter and waited for her to finish wearing her clothes before she continued the conversation.

"But the internet always helps me." At the end of her sentence, Emma was hair slapped again.

'It's moments like this, that makes me hate you.' Emma thought bitterly as she stood up from bed and wore her flip flops, while still in nightgown and her bed hair.

'I should brush my teeth first before bathing and then eating.' she headed for her bathroom as Beth had left to eat food.
