Chapter 16

Let's say I'm not. The next line is 'learn to adapt to those around you; you will know who you are because we are similar then they may think.' could it be how they look? That line is more confusing than the other lines. Moving onto the next one, 'fear for loved one's shows three sets of wings that go well with our bat ears.' Tj told me I had six holes, but I don't have the marks nor the bat ears. Right now, I only have the eyes and the wings; maybe I can find a picture to see if I can't get a better understanding of her. Placing the book down before going to the kitchen, while mumbling to myself about the possibilities, casually making lunch for everyone.

"What are you mumbling, mama?", Jess asks, walking into the kitchen.

"I found some things out about a family member of mine.", I say, not looking away.

"Cool?", she says causational.

"Yup, is there something you want?", I ask.

"Umm…. yeah. Zane said that- umm… nevermind.", she says before running away.

Continuing to make the lunch, when Maya comes walking in; "Raina, what happened with Jess?", she asks.

"I'm not sure. She came in and when I asked her if she wanted something, she started talking but then said never mind. She mentions Zane, though. Do you know what she wanted?", I told her.

"She wanted to know when your birthday is; Zane mentioned that family members should know each other's birthdays.", she explains.

"I won't tell you but if you get Jess to come and ask, I'll tell her.", I answer with a smirk.

"I like how you think.", she says before walking away.

Smiling, I place all the plates out when Jess comes walking in; "Hello, again, what did you want to ask me.", I say with a smile.

"Mama, when's your birthday?", she asks while playing with her fingers.

"It's October twenty.", I answered her.

"So it's in two months?", she states, causational.

"Yup."

After I said that, everyone else comes walking in. Jess quickly takes her seat before blocking a chair next to her. Brandon went over to sit next to her but she wouldn't move her hands, so he picked another seat; Maya was the next one, but once again, she wasn't moving her hands. Then I decided I would sit next to her, and guess what? She moved her hands. Both Brandon and Maya had their mouths open with open eyes. I ended up laughing at their shocked expression.

"Jess, dear, you seemed to put our friends in shock.", I say in a playful tone.

"I did.", she says causational while tilting her head.

"Yeah, Brandon tried to sit down, but you didn't let him."

"Then Maya did the same, and you didn't let her as well."

"But when your mom went, you moved your hands.", Zane and Tj said together.

You would have thought they were twins the way they were speaking; definitely not something I want to hear again, especially from non-twins. It's just plain creepy. Before long, everyone was eating their lunch when I noticed Jess kept one hand away from the table, finding that odd. I tried to pretend that I didn't notice what she was doing, but it got harder when I heard her phone go off, but then quickly stopped. This happened a few times before I said something.

"Jess, is everything okay?", I asked her.

"Yeah, I'm fine.", she replies.

Narrowing my eyes, then says, "Should I wait until it's just us, or are you going to tell me?"

She looked shocked at what I said before she rushed to put her head downwards; letting out a sigh, I nudged my head at our friends, to which they responded with head nods before leaving the kitchen.

"We're alone now. Can you tell me what's going on?", I told her.

"It's really nothing, mama.", she says while heading towards the sink.

"Sweetie, you said you're fine; which means you're not.", I tell her.

"What do you mean? I'm fine means just that.", she asks then says.

"I'm fine, doesn't mean that it means you're hurting but you don't want to burden others, while I'm okay, means that you're not injured and that you're able to see what's happening.", I explained.

She nods her head before coming back to her seat, then she takes out her phone before showing me the text messages she was getting. Taking the phone out of her hand, I scroll all the way to the first text, 'You're worthless!' hateful words continued to be next to her; every time she tried to tell them to stop, they wouldn't. I was about to shut the phone off when I saw a text that was like something Molly said, 'you and that disgusting half-ling shouldn't be here! If you don't leave, I'll make sure you're both hunted by vampires.' Growling, I felt something come out my back, not really caring about that, making a mad dash for the door, to sniff Molly out so I could kick that bitch's ass for making my daughter feel less about herself.

"Raina, where are you okay?", someone yells out.

"To kill a bitch!", I snarled out.

As I continue to follow the foul smell of Molly, everyone else rushes to get out of the way; not sure why, but that really wasn't on my mind at the moment. Once I reached the кафетерий, I made a beeline for Molly, where she was closer to the professor's table. Yanking her backward, she hissed while I threw my glare.

"Awe isn't this sweet.", she says sarcastically.

"No, what's sweet is how your blood would be all over the floor and walls.", I say with a deathly glare.

"A professor shouldn't-"

"I'm not a professor right now, now am I.", I say, interrupting her with a smirk.

She gulps before her lungs for me. Which resolution is me grabbing the back of her neck and mashing her face into the table? Growling, I threw her back towards the wall; her friends all came dashing towards me but they didn't get far because once I looked at them, they froze where they stood.
