Chapter 7 The Culprit

The employees were all stunned. Who would dare to do such a thing and in such a big company? The employees began looking at each other questioningly.

But Drake continued,

An investigation has been conducted and the identity of the culprit has been confirmed.

I have the name of the culprit with me but before revealing the identity of the culprit, I would like the culprit to come clean and confess his crimes.

Meanwhile,

At the far end of the table, Elena was silently listening to Drake. She was still in a daze about the info that happened a few moments ago. She was snapped back to reality when Drake suddenly said.

The identity of the person who committed this theft is Mr Jason Walker.

Uh, the employees gasped.They were all in disbelief.They coils believe that the one behind the theft would be the company's best employee. it was like a huge bomb for them.

Drake continued,

And I have proof of his actions. Everyone please take a look at the screen then an image appeared on the projector's screen. Bank statements and details of Mr Jason appeared and how Mr Jason deceived an investor and extracted money from that investor.Everyone stared at the screen with mouths wide open.They just couldn't believe it.Drake didn't mind their shocked expressions instead he continued,and there is a witness to all of his heinous crime.Drake's gaze darted to Elena.M is Elena, please would you tell anyone what you've discovered. Elena stood up and began narrating the incident after which Drake came to a decision to fire Mr Jason but Mr Jason wasn't in his office.Drake was informed that Mr Jason hasn't been in his office for a few days. Mr Jason I will get you Drake said.

After work,

Elena was on her way out of the company and coincidentally Drake was on his way to his car when they bumped into each other.

Miss Elena, Drake called out to Elena.

Elena turned her head towards the direction where she heard the voice. Drake walked up to Elena. Miss Elena, I want to thank you for what you've done. You have saved my company from a huge loss and a traitor and I want to thank you for that.

Uhmm it's no problem, Elena said with her heart racing. She dosen't know why but whenever she sees Drake, her heart skips a beat.

By the way, are you heading home? Drake asked. I can drop you off if you are interested.

Uh Okay. Elena agreed.They both got into the car and the car accelerated.

By the way Miss Elena, When did you join my company? I can't seem to remember. Drake was the first one who spoke.

Oh, Uh, I joined the company a few weeks back. I was searching for a job and I saw an advertisement about a vacancy at your company and decided to apply. I was interviewed and i passed so I was offered employment.

Ok, Drake replied. Uhmm can I get your contact? Drake asked.

What?! Elena exclaimed both in shock and disbelief.She could never have imagined that Drake would ask for her number. Why are you asking for my number boss? You are my boss and I am your employee so why? Elena asked.
