How important is the backdoor of Karazhan, you ask?
It's a difficult question to answer.
Duke doesn't know how much the world of Azeroth, which overlaps 80% with what he knows from Warcraft, will be like. All he knows is that throughout history, anyone who has ever charged in through the front door has either been badass or incredibly stupid.
Similarly, the higher the status of a mage tower in this world, the higher up it is located. Medivh's place must be at the top of the tower.
So here's the problem.
In the game, Karazhan has 12 big and small bosses. Of course, this is not the Karazhan ruins filled with ghosts, undead, and demons after Medivh's death in the game. Many of the monsters and bosses that Duke had originally imagined probably won't appear.
But from the house where the human servants in front of Karazhan's mage tower live, it's clear that there's nothing good waiting behind the front door.
Are they humans turned into demons? Or monsters summoned by Sargeras from another world?
Either way, it's certain that charging in through the front door would mean walking straight into Sargeras' playground.
This is already a battle of vastly uneven forces, and even with heroes like Lothar and Garona on their side, they still cannot match Medivh who has the advantage of the mage tower's terrain.
Reducing the number and intensity of battles as much as possible and meeting Medivh in the strongest possible state is the most important thing.
According to the game, taking the backdoor means avoiding or defeating at least half of the bosses. If that's the case, it would be a huge advantage.
Duke glanced over at Garona, who had a smug look on her face as if to say, "Go ahead and praise me." Suddenly, she lost her temper.
Lothar didn't know if she was telling the truth or not, but she expressed surprise and admiration appropriately, "Wow! How did you do it? My best Rogue just gave me a signal that he couldn't handle it."
Garona put her hands on her hips and chuckled, "Hehe! When you've been imprisoned countless times and have escaped countless times, there's no lock in the world that can stop you, whether it's a magical lock or a regular one."
Duke rolled his eyes, "If you're so amazing, why don't you just fly out of here?"
Looks like she's a master at escape rooms.
Lothar drew his long sword, "Alright, next question... Duke, where does this door lead? Do you have any intelligence or clues?"
Duke looked dumbfounded, 'Do you want me to recite the boss's name from the game to you?'
Duke could only shrug, "I don't know. Even my teacher only told me that there's a backdoor to Karazhan that can at least bypass the stables, servant rest area, and the noble meeting area."
At this point, Reginald Windsor stepped forward and asked, "What's the point of avoiding these areas?"
Duke rolled his eyes again.
Yes, Duke brought Windsor just like in "history". Although "history" had deviated greatly, aside from Cadgar being killed and completely unable to do anything, Duke attempted to restore that history of the weak defeating the strong.
Of course, Windsor went from Lothar's grunt to Duke's follower, which was a big change.
Duke still believed that just as Lothar was supposed to be favored by the goddess of fate, Windsor should not be stuck in this place either.
Windsor was still a bit naive, and Duke had to patiently explain, "Originally, there were hundreds of servants helping to maintain the mage tower in Karazhan. But now they're all gone, most likely turned into demons by Sargeras or demonic creatures. Avoiding these areas is also to minimize unnecessary losses. Of course, feigning an attack is still necessary."
"What's a feigned attack?" Garona suddenly asked.
Duke slapped his forehead, annoyed at the confused female orc. "Windsor, can you explain it to Garona?"
Duke turned to Lothar and said, "If we take the back door, I have a 70% chance of avoiding more than half of the enemies and reaching Medivh within an hour. But nothing is foolproof, and you're the commander, the decision is yours."
"Okay, the main force will take the back door," Lothar decided decisively.
"Um." Lothar's decisive response left Duke, who had prepared a whole bunch of arguments, a little stunned.
Lothar slapped Duke's shoulder, his face filled with confidence and generosity. "Have confidence in yourself. You're the expert in this mysterious realm. Since you've already proven your loyalty to the kingdom and to humanity with your actions, what's wrong with us outsiders entrusting our lives to you? Anyway, if we can achieve some results against Sargeras, I'll be satisfied."
"Okay, then I'll cross." Duke took charge and instructed everyone, "Listen to my orders. We'll set up like this..."
In the highest level of Karazhan, Medivh lay sprawled on a lounge chair.
If anyone saw him, they would be surprised to find dozens of screens floating around him in the void. Each screen had a different image, many of which were clearly unrelated to the world of Azeroth. The images on these screens were like a movie on fast-forward, as if the entire river of time had been accelerated.
However, regardless of which scene, they all have the same theme - destruction and slaughter!
In different corners of the universe, the Burning Legion is wreaking havoc, spreading death endlessly. Sargeras, attached to Medivh's body, found his entire spiritual sea filled with the same wailing and begging.
Sargeras (Medivh) frowned, feeling a little nauseated.
With a snap of his fingers, the entire spiritual space became quiet. The only sound left was the chaotic magic surging from the void, transmitted through his body, which was so powerful that it sounded like a howling wind. Even in a sealed and dormant state, Sargeras could sense the wonderful state he was in.
Sargeras didn't even need to move his fingers. His vision crossed the space of Karazhan, reflecting the halo of the entire Azeroth planet in his eyes. This halo emitted a brilliant and mysterious aura, rejecting any direct invasion by pure-blooded demons.
However, everything changed because of the invasion of the orcs.
Sargeras could see that the orcs who had drunk the blood of demons were crossing the void and entering the world of Azeroth. With the orcs' entry, the power of the halo was slowly weakening at an imperceptible speed.
"Not enough! Not enough! I need more demonized orcs to corrupt this land..." Sargeras muttered to himself, trying to accelerate the countdown to the destruction of this world.
Suddenly, he sensed the invaders.
