As the others still lived off the high of the previous world happier ending Ren made up his mind turning to Jaune he spoke up while the next view was still manifesting.
"Jaune, mind me asking you a question?" The Arc shrugged.
"I can only answer things you already know but sure, shoot."
"You said these views are from your counterparts, right?" He nodded, not seeing his point but knowing Ren was one of the more observant among them.
"Then… Forgive me but that world didn't seem to be focused on you." This drew Blake and Weiss's attention who turned.
"That's true."
"So then does that mean that worlds somehow different from ours?" Ren nodded to the heiress's worlds looking to Jaune.
"Well is it?" Jaune was silent but the smile he showed was all to telling making Ren nod back before looking to the others.
"Jaune can't seem to answer. Which means this view is information we aren't privy to; I'd like to use a question if nobodies against it." They stared surprised to be asked permission like this.
"Whatever you decide Renny I'll help and anyone who says otherwise can say goodbye to their legs!" Pyrrha nodded.
"While I disagree with the body trauma, I do think you should feel free to ask as you please."
Blake and Weiss looked to each other and sighed.
"It would be rather hypocritical of us to tell you to be wary of your questions."
"Indeed, and I certainly trust your judgment a good deal more than either of our leaders." Yang shrugged.
"Go for it, me and sis won't stop ya." Ren nodded to them all before turning to Neo who pointed to herself confused.
"Yes, I'd like your input as well miss Politan." She blinked.
"I hope to not make a mistake and I believe your input would help." The miniature killer's eyes narrowed on him earning a shrug from the Lie.
"No I don't believe we're friends, but you are interested in my leader, my brother in all but blood as he would say, yes?" She pouted before giving a curt nod the guy's way. Who knew after all he might end up having to babysit her Politan and the Mistralian boy at least seemed somewhat more reasonable than the others. Ren nodded before looking up to Jinn.
"Miss Jinn, might you tell us the reason behind why those views give as much focus to Ruby as they did Jaune." The avatar of knowledge smiled, the boy's choice in words was clever, not being so specific as to narrow it down to that sole view alone.
"Very Clever Lie Ren, more so then 'others' here." Blake and Weiss glared back at her teasing smirk.
"Very well, the reason is rather simple actually. To put things simply, that Jaune and Ruby are connect spiritually is all."
Spiritually.
"Indeed, the views are linked between my Jaune here and those of his counterpart's aura, their souls."
"They're souls…" Jinn smiled down towards the confused Ren.
"Indeed, and 'One for All' in that world was passed down to Ruby from Jaune… Within it, parts of him still linger, of his will, his consciousness… And even his soul." Realization hit Pyrrha then who spoke up.
"So his souls connected to that Ruby's-"
"-Like how he is connected to my Jaune." AJ nodded confirming it to them all.
"Nice question Ren, I'm sure you can already see how it'll be helpful."
The fact I could even say that is more than enough proof.
Ren nodded, indeed if they saw worlds where he connected himself with them in such ways it stood to reason that they'd get more insight on the connected individual.
"Thank you." Jinn shook her head.
"think nothing of it, you were entitled to your own questions after all… Oh my, look at that, it would seem the next world is ready."
Hunter's May Cry Chapter 1 by DAM1994/ dam1994s
"That's the next world… Kinda a weird name." Blake looked to Yang with a deadpan.
"What?"
"Jam, Immunity… Ruby Shoots Jaune in the Nuts… And this is the one you call weird."
"Point taken… But come on, I don't know whether that sounds awesome or dumb, seriously." Weiss felt a headache coming on.
"Cam we all just agree these names of utterly ridiculous and move on! And Ruby quit it with your incessant grinning it's unnerving!"
"'Heheh' me and Jaune are connected…"
"Um Pyr-Pyr…" Despite her calls the spartan heard none of it content with merely staring towards Ruby feeling as though she lost somehow…
They're connected… by their souls…
Nora felt her teammate's emotion as her aura manifest, the black hue of her semblance giving her soul's light a sinister look.
I'm scared! Fearless Leader Help!
Rain fell upon the capital of Mistral, as if it were the brother's tears, for what occurred beneath was tragic, so many lives lost for merely the hate of a man and the greed of another. The once beautiful capital now laid in ruins. And at its center where the once proud colosseum stood now laid an unholy tower that breached the very skies of Remnant.
Any feelings negative or not towards Ruby died abruptly for the spartan upon seeing the scene, her come, her kingdom… In ruins and that titanic pillar at its center upon the stage she'd fought so many battles during her tournament days.
On its peak two fought, their history long and filled with bloodshed, a red blade screamed as it tore forward the surrounding rain bursting into scalding steam. From it a torrent of crimson launched but was met by a nobler steel that met the bloodied energy with otherworldly white. The man sneered, his hair burning red as scarlet energy enveloped him, once he had been a common child like any other.
But humanity had taught him of cruelty and seeded hate in his being, and with it a wish for their destruction and the power to achieve it. One need only look upon the brand of his face to know of his reasoning and why he'd never forget.
Blake froze at the sight of the warrior at the all too familiar face usually masked, hidden away from other's view.
"Adam…" Yang looked to her partner confused
"You know him?" The Belladonna swallowed, looking down…
"He's … my mentor… From my days with the…" She didn't need to finish, Yang having caught on all too quick.
"Weiss, Weiss?" She looked over her partner whose face was utterly pale in a look of horror upon the sight.
"that, that brand… It can't be…"
SDC… No…
Even Neo blinked surprised, she'd had never guessed Edgelord was packing a brand under that mask.
He swung and parried a blade that dwarfed his own its wielder his polar opposite, his colossal blade glowing a white as pure as his reason.
His was a tale of trial, of loss and self-doubt yet he never fell even where greater men would and for it he radiated power and strength not for destruction like his counterpart but to protect. His golden hair flowed downward glistening from the rain while his eyes fixed upon his opponent.
Pyrrha's cheeks pinked.
"I-is that-"
"Fearless Leader!"
What happened to his sword? Where's his shield? Ruby you're a weapons expert can you tell us… Ruby?" The little Rose stared her eyes utterly starry.
He looks so cool!
Neo smiled really hoping this slightly older version of the blonde was like her view's one and not just swinging around that big sword to compensate for something…
Whilethe others focused on Jaune alone Blake maintained her attention on the melee between the two. Between her mentor and former lover and one of her friends. She hoped against the inevitable… But.
Though they were both azure the vengeful swordsmen only functional eye burned hatefully while the heroes were lit with determination.
Again, they rushed forward the blonde blade wielder swinging his giant sword as if it weighed a feather while the angry bull swung with such one would believe he could see the future. Again, and again steel met, each time screaming from the exchange of blades, sparks flying so hot the surrounding raindrops sizzled. Despite the power in their blades, the death promised at their edges the two showed an uncanny enjoyment from the duel, for they were both brothers if only in swordplay.
"Jaune-Jaune… Looks like he's having… fun." Pyrrha nodded recognizing that energy in his eye. The same she'd see in her own bouts when she watched recording of her matches. The excitement of a good exchange, of a bout well earned, and yet Jaune's was entirely different as both blades were not wielded by tournament standards but as a deathmatch.
Blake's feelings were little different as she watched Adam, never recalling such a plain out pleased look on his face. It terrified her, just watching him she could tell this version was so much stronger. Which was why she feared for Jaune, for her… Friend.
The ringing of steel, the trembling of a clash. The intent to kill, they both shared this, and while dueling that was all that mattered, not their race, loyalty or reason only the duel and the one who stood before them. They held a history but not a direct one, one sought to seek revenge on the one who abandoned him and those she loved and the other to protect them from his wicked blade.
Blake shook, was that referring to her?
If, if Adam were to attack us…
A shaky scared breath escaped her earning a curious brow raise from her partner.
Again, and again they had clashed one for that friend again as enemies of a war orchestrated by a being cursed with immortality and now over the ruins of Mistral.
Crocea Mors swung down only to be met by a glowing Wilt, the two looked at one another as sparks flying between them as twin azure looked into a single resentful cobalt. With a grunt Wilt raged exploding crimson and sending the Arc back, the knight swung his massive blade sending a white blast of energy roaring towards the bull. The man sheathed all but a foot of his blade.
No…
And blocked the aura arc absorbing it, making its power his own and burning brighter than ever before. The two assumed their stances, both blades glowing, finally his patience betrayed him and the Arc advanced and once more their blades danced. Streaks of white and red alike soared through the air as flashes of intense light followed by booms like thunder as they clashed.
It was beautiful, whether it be Pyrrha, Weiss, Blake or even Neo the thought couldn't help but pass their minds. After all as swordsman as far or diverse as their own styles were to see such a display of bladesmanship could only awaken their own yearning to improve.
With speed inhuman and strength unparalleled, the two fought as if sworn enemies, each's prowess so excellent that even the rained dared not entrench upon their duel creating a perfect sphere absent of the storm's tears. Finally, however the two master's blades met at the center, and with them the pocket ceased and the repelled water finally poured down splashing over them. Sparks flew as steel glowed red from friction and behind the two roaring blades, the warriors looked to one another, the hate long gone from the ferocious bull and arrogance absent from the paladin, all that greeted the other was a determined stare and the smallest upturn of each other's lips.
"Incredible …" A single word, but the most appropriate one, was this what her partner could achieve, she smiled at the prospect of Jaune reaching this level. Of helping him achieve it…
However, like all things this too could only end, it was only the faintest miscalculation but that was all that was needed. Adam smiled as he shifted Wilt's edge and allowed its scarlet Arc to roar forth, with a single swing it was decided as the knight's large blade was sent flying in the air. Only through Crocea Mors's reflection was the result shown as Wilt struck forward piercing through the knight's radiant aura and burying into flesh.
"Jaune!?" Who had shouted his name first nobody knew all they did know was the fear that shot through them. The terror of seeing their friend, teammate and Leader ran through by wilt's edge. Of seeing him die again. Nails dug through palms as her lip bled, her ears beneath folding.
My fault… It's all because of me…
The thundering of rainfall dulled as the two looked to one another, no hate, nor regret only a single exhale and acceptance. When he pulled back his blade Adam showed no mirth nor anger only a clear understanding and perhaps a slight disappointment. The Patriarch fell back, his form making a large splash in the clear water. The berserk swordsman looked to his nemesis, he certainly felt accomplishment from seeing his defeated foe but also a measure of loss. No longer would he exchange blades with the only exception to his hate of humanity.
Many eyes glared hatefully towards him, towards Adam, the perceivable enemy from Nora who gripped her fist with a force enough to shatter bone, to Ren who only tell of the fury within was his burning eyes. Pyrrha though, Pyrrha merely stared the Bull Faunus down. Making a point to remember every detail of his face, every movement of his blade. True she'd had shattered it with her semblance before the match could start but she understood the need to know her enemy's battle style. Already she could image Miló running the bull through as she crushed his windpipe with Akoúo̱.
The sister of RWBY were little different, whether it be Yang's raging red eyes or burning golden mane, or Ruby's teary eyes that faintly streaked with the silver light AJ had sought to manifest sooner within her. Neo just stared unable to do little more than resent the bull, to image slitting his throat but knowing that he did serve a threat and to turn on him would be the same as yelling to Fire Bitch to kill them. Still, at the very least she could do what she could to keep the stupid cow from ever meeting her blonde, yet still guilt flooded her heart.
And yet two's reaction were apart from the eight, as Weiss glared, not towards Adam, at least not entirely, but towards the scar that ruined his face, the brand upon his eye-blinding him to half the world and leading him to this hatred. The very reason for her wish to restore her family's name. And her guilt as a Schnee.
Father… How could you let this happen!?
But the final was different, there was no hatred, no rageful resent or unforgiving blame, no. For Blake there was only guilt, only the intense weight of her part in his death, undeserved or not.
Jaune… I'm sorry…
Pulling out his mask he covered his face once more from the only man who'd ever seen his visage and had lived to tell of it… but no longer. Reluctantly he lifted his rival's blade, its weight inhuman, it was his now.
"Get your hands of Jaune-Jaune's Sword!"
He turned away from the fallen knight, not seeing how his hand clenched, pale white light licking his form.
Pyrrha all but cried out in relief.
"He's Alive!" Ren stared confused yet utterly relieved.
"His semblance! Can it even heal a fatal wound?"
And it was as his eyes opened that the sight of Adam thrusting Crocea Mors forward towards him monopolized his sight…
-Several Hours Earlier Mistral-
The group exhaled in horror at the sight, not knowing what to think, had Jaune died, had he managed to survive by some miracle. All that though was left unanswered as before them the view had decided to show them of the prelude to such a bout.
"What happened to Jaune-Jaune!?"
"Several Hours Earlier? Wait so rewinded back to before they asshole and VB fought!?"
"I, I guess so… But what about Arc Did it do that because he… He di-" Cutting off her teammate Blake spoke up.
"No, I don't think so… Last time… Last time we saw him… Die. It cut off, the world ended, so I believe he survived that…" Despite her words the others felt it, the plea in her tone, the hope she was right instead of any actual faith in it. and yet her reasoning was not odd or queer, so of course they reached out for it as well.
"I would like to believe that…"
"Yeah… Jaune-Jaunes still alive, the views still going so that means the stories not over yet."
'Over yet? It hasn't even begun in case you forgot Pancake Freak.'
Pyrrha reluctantly nodded.
"Miss Politan is right, perhaps this will lead to… 'That' But, but there is a chance that that is not the ending of this story…"
Right?
Ruby slowly nodded, wiping her eyes from the near outburst she'd almost had at the sight before. She wanted to, no, she did believe what Pyrrha was saying. Jaune was alive still and she was sure he didn't die to that mean Faunus Guy, she'd seen enough action movies to know that spoilers like that rarely happened… She wanted to believe that, that this was just the world misleading them. After all Jaune didn't die from a sword to the heart so maybe…
Before their thoughts could go any further though the View continued ignoring their worries.
'Ring, Ring' On a desk in a slightly run-down building an outdated Scroll rung. Again and again it screeched vibrating against the pre-used desk, shifting towards a nearby Pizza box.
Weiss's nose scrunched up.
"Well, that place looks rather unimpressive." Neo shrugged, she'd seen worse places, a bit of a mess but she was hardly one to talk.
"Oh Pizza, now I'm craving some!" With a grin, yang focused her mind and from thin air a box appeared much to her joy.
"Sweet." Opening it she readied grabbed a slice and the others of her team followed… And JNPRs… A Neo, who grabbed two!
"Hey!" Neo shrugged shooting a mean smirk the brawler's way as she walked back to her seat.
'Just think up another one Top-Heavy.'
"What I ever do to you!?" Neo turned not caring to even answer the sinner who dared call her Precious little Snow Cone Unsettling.
"Couldn't you have just imagined your own!?'
'A stolen slice taste better'
"Grr!"
"Eww! Yang why'd you think of Pineapples!?" The brawler rolled her eyes.
"Cause they're awesome on Pizza."
"Renny Yangarangs a heretic!"
"I don't see a problem, though I Prefer spinach on mine."
"Ugh! Renny I'm to eat!" Neo herself didn't care food being food she scarfed down the brawler's pizza much to said blonde's anger.
"You don't want it sis then hand it over."
"Wha! No! It mine, I licked it and everything!" Blake beside her partner stared to the slice of pizza herself not being a fan of the orange fruit either. A lightbulb blinked in her mind then and no sooner did she will it and the fruit was replaced by the true king of toppings.
"Ugh, fine Blake give me you-Ew, you actually eat anchovies?" the Faunus's eyes narrowed challengingly.
"You just have unrefined palate."
"Ugh! Whatever keep your poisoned Pizza I'll just take Weiss-" Looking to the heiress she find the slice gone said Schnee looking away a faint blush on her cheek as well as the tiniest bit of cheese on her lip.
"Quit your staring I was I was hungry."
"'Sigh' Dammit fine whatever!" With a grunt she willed another Pizza into the world, this one much larger as to appease the seven other eyes gleaming upon it.
So loud was it that the sound of a shower cutting off could barely be seen only becoming apparent once the door to the bathroom was flung open and a rather handsome blonde stepped out.
His hair watered down his bangs partially covering his cerulean eyes. He'd already dressed, well besides his top as said blonde made his way to the desk bare-chested. He wore black pants and steel-toed laced boots while around his neck hung a small vial of pure white dust.
Hunger, absolute and utter hunger was what filled the tallest and shortest among those viewing as Neo and Pyrrha stared at their blonde shirtless, steaming with drip of water falling off his wet hair unto his refined pecs and abs. The urge to lick of every drop of water tempted them so. Yang and Weiss alike stared boths cheeks flushed, the later from the sight of a very 'Not Scraggily' Arc proving said fact before her very eyes and the former reliving her Immunity counterparts, initial attraction to Jaune as he stepped out the shower.
Blake looked him over, panickily searching for even the barest hint of Adam's attack. Her mind racing with worry but slowly vanishing as relief came upon finding none. And no sooner than it did did her cheeks begin to heat as her eyes focused more upon him for mere curiosity and admiration than anything else.
She felt she could be forgiven; she was a healthy young woman after all with needs and urges she'd not partaken in quite some time. Surely so admiring her friend could be forgiven…
Finally, though Ruby stared, just stared… Forgetting to breathe or think beyond her silver eyes peering over him. Her previous thoughts of the others being weird slowly but surely making their way out of her mind as the beginnings of what her Jam counterpart's thought began to make much more sense.
He heard his scroll ring, looking down to his chair on its side Jaune smirked before kicking it up into a spin while he moved behind his desk. Beginning to squat said chair descended landing perfectly beneath him.
"That was Awesome!" Ren smiled Nora's way.
"It does show a relative amount of reflexes and perception." It needeth be said how much more advanced this version of their leader was than the one at rest in their dorms. Ren looked him over curiously.
He appears several years older, 23 or 24?
Quickly propping a foot on the desk he leaned back putting the chair on its back legs, finally he lifted and lowered his other leg on the desk with enough force to earn a slight cracking from the oak while simultaneously launching his scroll off it. reaching out he nabbed the device and answered.
"Hey there Jaune Arc whose calling?" Quickly the blonde's smile fell as he deadpanned before looking across the room viewing his most prized possession, a worn and ragged hoodie with a long since faded image of Pumpkin Pete plastered on its chest. The hoodie itself was littered with stitches from the many tears the article had endured however, to him it was precious without compare.
Several snickered, his team included, for such a cool version of their leader to still be obsessed with his hoodie, it was nice to see some things didn't change even after Jaune grew older.
"Sorry not for sale." Quickly he hung up not caring to hear the caller's attempts to negotiate, having heard so countless times. He supposed he couldn't really blame them though once he considered how much said hoodie was worth. After all it was signed by a champion who once advertised for said cereal brand while worn by another during his first time on the tournament scene.
"Wait, Jaune entered a tournament…" Rem nodded.
"And apparently did well enough to where someone would want his hoodie… Perhaps he won a rather significant one."
"Oh man, this version of VB just keeps getting better and better."
He chuckled to himself.
"Everytime, when will they learn." He supposed it was better than somebody attempting to sponsor him again, especially Pumpkin Pete's.
Pyrrha sighed.
Of course they would…
Grabbing up a slice of Pizza he began to relax until the doorbell rang, the blonde spared a lookup spotting a vaguely familiar man walking towards him. The man was dapper with a thick mustache but a completely bald head however judging by the burns across his scalp and the left of his face he guessed his due wasn't by choice. However, what drew his attention most was the man's eyes or eye to be more precise.
One was a plain green, but the other was an eerily familiar amber that almost seemed to smolder that made Jaune want to take a shot at him on the spot. However, the young hunter wouldn't let his caution show and smirked drawing from his inner Yang.
"So you a customer looking for a huntsman, a fan here to confess your love, or another stooge trying to nab my hoodie there? If it's the second sorry, I don't swing that way but there are plenty of fish in the sea."
"Oh thank Oum"
I still have a chance.
Pyrrha saw as Neo's and even Ruby's faces showed similar relief and made a point to remember it.
The man didn't so much as flinch at the jab.
"Are you Jaune Arc." Said blonde raised a brow.
"Uh, yeah." Was it conceited to think he'd be hard not to recognize? After all he was a member of the Miraculous Seven not to mention the current Mistral Regional Champion.
"What!?" Weiss wasn't alone in her shock as the others stared wide-eyed at the revelation with only Ruby noticing it.
Miraculous Seven?
"The boy who couldn't even watch a door. The… Invincible Salyer" All good will vanished from the blonde at the moniker and his eyes narrowed on said individual.
"Invincible Slayer…" Pyrrha didn't know why, but that moniker made her spine tingle and gut feel flip.
"Who are you? No better yet who sent you?" The man smiled for the first time.
"My name is Watts, Doctor Watts, as for who sent me that would be Adam, he's invited you to a 'friendly' duel."
Blake swallowed.
"He, he knows Adam…" How, Adam would never align with a human, then again the White Fang in her world were working with Roman… She looked to Neo, the person who'd have the answer to it all but who she got the inkling would never speak no matter how much she pried and not just because she was mute.
Streaks of white begun to seethe from the patriarch as he reached under his table.
"Did he now? How generous." The man smiled.
"Indeed, consider this his invitation." Without warning the man reached out for the desk and flipped it with ease, Jaune acted instantly punching the desk, shattering it into woodchips before gripping one of the guns inside the shattered furniture and pointing it out towards the man only to find him gone. Seeing the man gone Jaune lowered his firearm, before stretching out his hand and catching the Pizza box.
"Jaunes using a gun!"
"Oum Dammit sis, you scared me there!"
"Hmph I don't see the big deal its merely a firearm." Ruby turned on Weiss an adorable look of disbelief on her face.
"But its Jaune using it!" Ren nodded supposing he had never seen his leader show any interest in firearms before. Turning back to the screen Ruby grinned ear to ear excited and curious as to what her bestie's preference was. Maybe she could help him make his own gun! Yeah, they could go out to Vale and buy the parts, and grab something to eat, and watch a movie or junk.
Cheeks pinked as she realized what she was planning for sounded like, but, but it totally wouldn't a date! Like sure they'd be alone… together, in Vale… But… Well… Would that be so bad… The reaper shook her head then.
No! Bad Ruby! Watch Jaune kick bad-guy butt now think of totally not date stuff later!
"Well, a duel huh… Guess it would be rude not to finish Bullboy." Jaune quickly reached out for a slice and opened wide. However just before his lips could touch sweet greasy delight the world around him shattered like so much glass. Several claws slashed forward burying deep into his flesh as four Beowulves ambushed the veteran huntsman.
"Jaune!" Memories of the terrible View resurfaced in each's mind, of Jaune dying gasping in against a tree in Emerald Forest…
Each Grimm snarled in anticipation of the feast of intestines soon to come, however such thoughts were cut off when the one in front of him's eyesight was blocked by a single heavy palm. Bashing into it the Grimm was sent flying its skull crushed in, upon slamming into the wall it broke into a mass of ebony miasma.
"Oh Thank Oum he's okay!" Ren Blinked.
Did he just use my technique?
The Three others looked to their fallen pack mate before roaring at Jaune and readying to attack with another swipe before they paused.
Their arms wouldn't listen, when they looked to the offending limbs, they saw it, their claws sharp enough to tear apart metal with ease were trapped, seemingly restrained by a deep white glow as Jaune's barrier ensnared them. Only the tips of their claws were tinged red but even now a pure white licked at the wounded flesh restoring it.
"That's… Jaune's Semblance from the Huntress Machiavellism world…"
"Aura Amplification…"
"He used his barrier to trap the Grimm's movements."
Without warning said victim began to step forward with a stride so confident you'd think he hadn't just been impaled. Slowly he walked up to the Pizza box he'd dropped from the wolfies little love bites nabbing up a slice of Pizza before with his free hand he grabbed one of the stuck grimm releasing it from his hold before tossing it over his head and curling his fist delivering an aura infused strike curtesy of Ren's lessons.
So those are my techniques…
Said beast went flying into the ceiling fan and was torn to pieces before said device fell crashing down towards him. He glowed a fierce white and streaks of red formed.
Abruptly the black hue coated the tool and the fan blade rotated faster than ever before crashing into one of the Grimm turning it into a mess of black pulp and then rolled around menacingly towards the other ending its false life just as brutally.
Pyrrha was speechless for several seconds.
"Was that… Polarity?" A voice spoke up then as Jinn smiled, though for once it lacked any venom of pettiness. Instead, there was a note of Thrill in her voice.
"This Jaune amplified the aura you used to awaken his. Tapping into your aura he accessed your semblance." She stared in awe, and she wasn't alone as the others looked no less shocked by the revelation.
Jumping back the knight barely avoided several long claws appearing from visibly nowhere as reality shattered before him like glass to reveal the rest of the horde. Seeing this Jaune frowned.
"Hey now, that's a neat trick there, popping up like that, reminds me of my favorite lil accomplice in fact. You fellas wouldn't happen to know where she's been for the past week would you? Can't miss her, looks like a walking talking ice- cream cone?"
Neo blinked pointing to herself, he was looking for her, no more than that they seemed dare she hope close. With a shit-eating grin she winked the Spartan's way much to Pyrrha's frustration. It was Ruby who noticed it.
"But how are they using Neo's semblance." The petite killer paused at the good question.
The Grimm only responded with growls. Jaune nodded in understanding.
"Right, right Grimm no speakie"
Well except for that Hound one
Jaune sighed.
"Sheesh, if Snow Angel knew I actually asked a Grimm about something I'd never hear the end of it."
Weiss looked away her cheeks peppering with color.
"That Dolt, still insist on that blasted nickname of his…" Blake blinked though for a entirely different reason.
Wait what was that about talking Grimm hounds?
Turning he made his way to an old jukebox he'd bought and smiled.
"Well, if we're gonna do this, we might as well do it in style." Pressing the button the blonde was rewarded with… nothing but a single glowing light.
"'sigh' Hiya!" Not wasting a moment to consider the cost he struck the machine with a devastating chop bending in the top and sending it into a fit of sparks and smoke but surprisingly it begun to play.
"See told you it worked sis?"
"Not when you explode with your punch it doesn't!"
Tapping his foot to the beat seeming to ignore the encroaching Grimm as he did Jaune smiled. The blonde didn't reach for a weapon even as he could feel their hot rancid breath, after all he was a weapon. The smallest of the Beowulves roared leaping towards him maws wide and ready to tear into flesh.
However, said jaws never reached their aim instead shattering against the ivory sphere that formed around the knight. Within white streaks begun to enter his form augmenting his muscles as he readied to have a bit of fun. He turned to regard the now toothless Beowulf and smirked.
"Aw looks like gummies just volunteered." Tossing the slice in his mouth he swung his fist back crashing into and through the Grimm's skull, before its body could even realize it was dead he kicked the thing away into the one behind it and gave a roundhouse to a copycat aiming for a pounce like the first. Said Wolf was sent flying across the room.
Yang grinned.
"Oum Damn VB. Nice moves."
I likey … Wait what?
Another Grimm rushed forward but it was hardly concerning as he reached into his pockets drawing his trusty Storm Flowers a gift from his brother in all but blood and modified by the legendary weapon nut herself.
Ruby and Ren alike blinked looking to one another before smiling as they looked back to their shared friend.
With a grace only a boy raised by seven sisters could manage he rushed through them, cutting through jugulars with finesse before opening fire on the crowd unleashing a storm of bullets upon them.
Closing in on the nearest Grimm he axe-kicked the mangy mutt shattering its skull, before switching Storm Flower to semi-automatic and with it increasing its caliber to an aura boosted .45. Taking aim he chose his mark blowing one whole after another into it leaving it like a black hunk of cheese.
Ruby hopped in her seat, how had she done that!? She needed to know the specs of Ren's Stormflower to make a copy for Jaune. Beside her Ren felt uneasy as Ruby looked to him with Nora levels of obsession in her eyes.
A Grimm crashed through the ceiling thinking he hadn't noticed but being oh so wrong as no sooner a barrage of bullets pelleted its form pushing it up and suspending it in the air.
Another Grimm rushed the knight as he did his little trick and in response, he pointed the brighter pistol its way and opened fire tearing apart its knee and sending it to the ground. Not wasting a beat he stomped down on the center of the beast's back and took a note from his favorite bomber and skated through the room on his make ship board unloading death at incredible speeds making the line between sheer brutality and artistic razor thin.
"Lookie Renny! Jaune-Jaune's doing my thing!" Blake blinked.
"I honestly don't know whether that's impressive or insane." Yang grinned.
"Well one things for sure it's awesome."
"Go Fearless Leader!"
Firing the left legs of his pole table off creating a makeshift ramp he made a move and did a perfect 1080 firing off with an accuracy beyond the norm with each rotation before the Grimm slammed into the ceiling and he activated the gravity dust in his boots and went crashing down into the pool table. Sending the Billiard balls flying, switching Stormflower to it largest caliber he fired into the reinforced sphere sending it rocketing into the others striking with enough force to create a mini cannonball barrage.
Each ball struck with enough force to explode the opposing Grimm's bodies, blowing them apart and across the room.
Neo was opened mouth in awe much like a good majority of the others, she decided then as she saw this version of her blonde. He was officially upgraded from booty call and moved possibly to above Baby's Daddy if he kept up with then level of panty soakage.
Ruby and Nora hugged both faces utterly in awe and utter joy as they cheered at the sheer awesomeness on display. Yang stared amazed at the show Loverboy was putting on while Weiss was still in disbelief at it all.
Quickly more shattered into reality and the Arc decided to quit playing around as his aura fed into the crimson streaks expanding them and making his palms glow black. From the mount on his wall Crocea Mors spun towards him like it was possessed. Catching the blade he infused his aura into it creating a coat of aura around it giving it the reach and width of a greatsword. With a smile he swung the heirloom sending out an Arc of blindingly white aura that tore through the incoming pack as well as the pool table behind him.
"Oh my gods …" Weiss was as speechless as the others.
Raising his other palm he focused on his weapon rack pulling forward one of Ruby's more unorthodox sheaths for his blade after his shield had been melted courtesy of a very dead Cinder. The sheath was nothing like one, instead being no more than a heavier double-edged blade artistically notched on both side near its tip. With a click he sheathed the blade locking it in place on the dust-infused sword. He still had no idea what he'd ever done to get such a gift from Craterface.
Ruby grinned at the mega sword Jaune held.
I must know what it can do!
Pulling the blade over his shoulder his aura shield preventing it from doing any damage he surveyed the remaining Grimm, yeah they'd make a good warm-up. Deciding on the big honcho of an alpha in the back he acted his blade glowing black as it propelled itself and him forward stabbing square into the beast chest running both it and the wall through. The Grimm roared in pain but Jaune quickly slashed up splitting it in half from the abdomen.
Yang gasped.
"Brutal …"
Hearing its buddies realizing what had happened he turned, Crocea Mors glowing before he unleashed a wave of energy on them. He stood still waiting for the big finale.
"Three, two, one." Each Grimm's upper half slipped off at the waist and with that he took a bow feeling only a bit silly for it.
Neo clapped happily for Politan's father.
Finally, however, he looked his place over and paled, it was a wreck, the windows smashed, the walls in tatters and don't even get him started on his desk, pool table and fan.
Who would do such a thing!… oh yeah… Dammit.
Pyrrhasnickered glad her dork was still in there behind all the hot cocky, skill and delicious muscles and well-earned features and… What was she saying again?
"'Sigh' Well looks like I know where my prize money is going." Then he felt it an all too familiar presence that his aura had all but marked with how many times he had amplified her. With a smile he stepped towards the door taking his favorite gift Snow Angel had given him off the clothes rack a red duster weaved with dust and donned it.
Weiss looked him over as he walked forward with a confident stride, her cheeks burned a bit more for it as the thought of the coat matching him surprisingly well took root.
Deciding he was already gonna have to pay a shit ton of lien for repair he kicked at the door sending it flying. Stepping outside he examined the surrounding already hearing the tells of Grimm but not people. His scroll went off then and when he checked he saw it a display alerting all Hunters to face the invading Grimm. He sighed then, glad to see he hadn't gotten a search and rescue mission meaning evacuations had already been taken care of.
Ren nodded.
"So it wasn't just an attack on Jaune."
It was as he looked for any details on where the Grimm numbers were heaviest that he heard them and looked up spotting several Beowulves making their way to him. Even now he could see several Ursa appearing before him out of thin air. He watched as they shattered into the world closing his eyes, he sensed for her and found a auric response, smiling he looked up to the Grimm.
"Sense her… Isn't that a rather difficult aura technique?" Ren nodded at his teammate's words considering them before looking back to the spartan.
"Jaune can direct his aura into others, perhaps that sense of extension made him more aware of those he empowers often… A shortcut or Imation of that technique." Pyrrha nodded agreeing both knowing it was still incredibly useful.
"Well, looks like my lil accomplice brought me a present." Drawing Crocea Mors he directed its edge to the nearest Ursa.
Neo blinked, so it was her, but why? Were her and Roman still under fire Bitch's thumb in this universe or something?
"It'd be rude of me not to use you guys then wouldn't it." He shot forward-thrusting into the nearest Ursa running it through. Pulling back he swung Crocea upwards sending the bear Grimm flying. Looking to the nearing Beowulves he threw his sword like a windmill the noble steel tearing apart the beast. Drawing Stormflower he let loose on the Ursa above suspending it in the air with a barrage of rounds until it broke apart into miasma. An Alpha leaped towards him and in response, he put out his open palm towards it. The Grimm opened wide ready to rip off the limb but was stopped as Crocea Mors tore through its chest a black hue coating it.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk, always watch your back pal"
"His use of Polarity is less subtle then your own."
"You mean awesome! Jaune-Jaune is kicking butt and looking stylish doing it!" Pyrrha nodded, honestly impressed, the moves her partner displaying being noted down in her head.
Crocea glowed a fierce red with and a smile he swung a flame dust imbued aura arc letting loose upon the remaining beast.
Ruby drooled at the sheer display Jaune's new upgraded Crocea Mors displayed while Weiss herself stared in shock at the dust work Arc utilized.
It was only a subtle shift but Jaune felt it and leaped avoiding the first slash that shattered into reality the blade swung up towards the defenseless Arc. Jaune smiled the gravity dust in his duster triggering allowing him to perform a mid-air jump avoiding the blade, with a roar he swung down Crocea Mors on the Grimm but it shattered.
Landing he waited knowing it couldn't be far off he focused assuming a defensive stance, with a pained wail it appeared shattering into reality. Jaune turned palm stretched out receiving the blow his, a large scythe clashed being repelled. Seeing the opening he acted redirecting the force of its blowback to the beast making it skid away. Now that his mysterious guest had finally stopped moving he got a decent look at it and went wide-eyed.
The creature looked like that of a giant Apathy, a long lanky body shrouded behind a ebony miasmic cloak. In its hands it held a scythe composed of dark mass like a grimm and bone-like plate armor, it wailed at him a ghastly spine tingling wail. It was a Grimm was the assumption any hunter or civilian would surely come to but to him. Looking to it, seeing the ragged coral, ivory and brunette locks of thin split winery hairs and those glowing white and pink eyes.
Neo paled.
Is that… me…
"… Neo? The hell did they do to you?" With a wail it surged forward at him catching the Arc off guard in his shock and sending him flying. When he looked back up, she was gone, however years of being 'partners' with the little terror had made him quite versed in dodging her.
Pyrrha blinked.
Partners… with her… Does that me I died again…
Swerving left he narrowly avoided a scythe stabbing into the ground. Turning to it he smiled.
"So that really is you, nobody else would go for a backstab so quickly."
Neo pouted at being called out, it was a legitimate strategy.
Pressing a palm he filled the being with aura. The Grimm shirked however he saw as the miasmic cloak weakened the faintest outline of a tiny figure hidden within it. Jaune smiled.
"So your trapped in there huh? Guess I have to get you out." Jaune face grew a tad more serious before he assumed what the tournament scene had dubbed his Royal Guard style.
Ren and Yang alike observed, catching some similarities between this style and the other Jaune who fought hand to hand with Blake's own. But this one seemed like an evolution of sorts, more refined and experienced.
The Grimm who'd possessed his lil friend he'd officially dub the Grimm Vanguard spun its scythe in a threatening display before it jumped back shattering once more. Jaune waited knowing Neo's semblance was merely an illusion not actually teleportation or bending reality. He may not see her but he could hear the wind parting by her scythe's edge.
Neo nodded, recognizing that this Jaune must know her a great deal to be aware of her weaknesses. It made her smile, assured in her victory against Nikos this round.
Again, his aura flared and again he countered his fist burning white as he struck it's chest filling it with light. The Grimm Vanguard wailed pained, but he didn't care, pulling out Crocea Mors he thrusted forward the gravity dust in his duster propelling him like a bullet to perform his signature 'Stinger' technique.
The Crocea's edge tore into it earning another pained shriek from the Grimm. It yelled desperately as it swung its huge blade down at him aura exploded tanking the first blow sending back the Grimm Vanguard slightly losing balance. Not wasting the chance his body burned white and he tackled it letting all his aura flood it. The Vanguard leaped back writhing around as it struggled to retain the venom like light of Jaune's soul. Within the petite criminal stirred the slightest bit and when she did it self-preservation instincts triggered. With a final menacing shriek it leaped back before he could act and shattered away this time no intention of remaining. Jaune grimaced at the sight of his 'accomplice' vanishing.
"Don't worry Neo I'll have you out of that thing soon enough, I promise."
Neo blushed, honestly blushed finding herself the damsel in distress for once and… not entirely despising it. He promised to save her after all… and strangely enough she felt she could believe in his word.
He looked around trying to decide where to head to help the most. However, fate answered him first as he felt the earth beneath shake and tremble.
"Well, that can't be good." Jaune looked out to the city and what he saw next shook him to his core.
-Mistral Colosseum-
At the Heart of the kingdom where legends were made and champions born three stood, a madman, a swordsman and doctor who sought to take what could only be rightfully his. Said man was the only human among the three. He looked over his scroll looking diligently and smiling with a nod when the green light lit and his virus took hold.
"Very good, now the mechs here are under my control, not as many as in Atlas but I suppose beggars can't be choosers." The swordsman merely grunted not caring for the human's words or methods only focused on the goal at hand. While the mad Scorpion could only hop in trepidation.
"Oh, hurry, hurry Watts, let's begin, the resurrection of our goddess!" The man rolled his eyes out of the scorpion's line of sight.
"Patience Tyrian, have you already forgotten Jinn's words, for the ritual to come at hand we need to finish the circle."
All eight stood a number of questions, only Blake and Neo recognizing Adam though having no idea who the other two were.
"Wait, did they say Jinn!"
Tyrian and Watts…
Ren considered just asking who they were, but ultimately decided against it. After all he could look them up on the internet first and try that before wasting one of his valuable questions. Pyrrha mind though was on something else said by the madman.
Whose Salem?
Before them was indeed a runic circle forming from the black fluids of the Brother's Grimm, Watts himself using his telekinesis to make the symbol. Once finally complete he smiled.
"The time is at hand, Tyrian, the Relic of Creation." Said Faunus giggled excitedly before drawing forth a scepter that emanated power and drew the soulless beast attention. Taking it in hand the doctor could feel the power, he then looked to his other cohort.
"Relic? What are those?" No sooner than the words left her mouth did Yang try to cover it. But to her surprise, AJ broke into the biggest grin at the question.
YES!
Jinn smiled down to the brawler.
"I must admit, I thought you'd be the one to waste your questions frivolously." She looked over to Weiss and Blake meaningfully.
"But color me surprise, now then the relics are four powerful items created by the Brother Gods of Light and Dark, Knowledge, Destruction, Creation and Choice and yes they do exist in your world" Yang blinked shocked alongside the others before Weiss still irate at the avatar of knowledge's gaze spoke up.
"Wait, that ridiculous version of Arc used the fifth relic? What about that?"
"…" The Heiress nearly screamed.
"Stop Ignoring Me!"
"The brother Gods are real…" Ren nodded to his teammate's words.
"I suppose it shouldn't be too surprising considering each of these worlds are another God's." Yang looked to the others.
"So… Do we ask about specifics about the Relics? Like where they are, or what they do?" A long pause passed before Ruby spoke up.
"I don't know…" Pyrrha spoke up then.
"There has to be a reason why there isn't any information on them."
"We might still learn something about them from these views." Blake nodded.
"And if we don't we can always ask if we're still curious." Truthfully, she wanted to know, her curiosity positively brimming but even so a note of fear thumped in her chest. But the others seemed in agreement and slowly nodded much to they're relief.
"Adam, the Relic of Destruction." Said Faunus regarded him for several seconds, a thousand thoughts racing through his mind before the only one that matter did. Blake, humanity and what they must suffer.
'Wow Kitty, you sure know how to pick them.'
Blake glared over at the mute who shrugged sending the Faunus a smirk.
He nodded then, presenting a sheathed blade ancient beyond recorded time and yet untouched by the millennium's pressures. Watts took the Relic by the hilt and drew it. The very air screamed as it was drawn, such unparallel power, Watts smiled.
"Well then shall we begin?" He didn't wait for their inputs immediately crossing both relics over one another. Creation and Destruction released in equal measures, colliding and repelling over each other again and again until finally something beyond mere destruction and more than creation manifested. The Circle begun to fill with a darkness beyond even the brothers Grimm as a deep miasma begun to spread out and manifest into a black stone that pulsed with an unholy life and drank in the light of the world.
Blake felt her instincts scream at the sight, a shudder running through her spine.
The three watch in awe as the spire grew like a twisted spear ascending beyond the colosseum and any building in the kingdom. The ground shook as the spire bloomed cracking and parting leaving devastation to the once prosperous capital. From the fissures in the earth an all too familiar black emerged their eyes glowing a baleful crimson that despised humanity. Watts looked to the magnificent and terrible sight before him, the first step in his goal, the tower that pierced the sky and threatened the brothers themselves, Temen-ni-gru. None of them waited, caring not for the countless they had sentenced to a painful and fear-inducing death, the only thing on each's mind the wish they held none the same.
To say the eight stared in shock would be an understatement. Not a soul among them looked to the diabolical structure with even a semblance of awe, only fear and horror.
"Mistral…" Ren's semblance failed him as despair sunk in.
"It's flooding the city in Grimm… "
Just like Kuroyuri.
"The fuck! Is that thing a Grimm!? How is it making them, where fuck did it come from!?" Jinn sighed.
"I can only answer one of those questions miss Xiao-Long, I don't you can decide which." The brawler looked back to her, her mind still a mess as she tried to reason out whether it would be a good question or not. Blake cut her off then though.
"Yang, wait." The brawler looked her way only for Blake to speak again.
"We have to consider what we're asking? Don't make the same mistake as me, besides… It's related to these Relics… so we might be able to figure out without it." The brawler nodded slowly. Not entirely in agreement but also not against it.
"R-right sorry, I… This is all just getting to me y'know?" Blake nodded.
"You're not alone, it unsettles me as well." The others nodded, Neo's own eyes still trained on the Temen-ni-gru, was that the goal of Fire Bitch had for Vale? Something like that? She shuddered at the thought. Regardless Jinn spoke up once more.
"Do you want to use a question Xiao-Long?" The brawler looked to the screen again, to that tower and swallowed.
"No, not yet… I think," Jinn nodded before turning back to the screen to watch like the others.
However, Tyrian paused when he felt something, one of the children he'd been given by his goddess before her downfall had suffered a great many wounds. The madman froze for a second before pouting, it would seem a certain interesting knight had tried to free their tiny princess from her Grimm prison. Perhaps he would pay the blonde knight a visit, it had been so long after all and what kind of host would he be if he didn't welcome the boy. He had the perfect Grimm for it to.
Neo's eyes narrowed, so that was the asshole who made her into that thing! She wanted to say she'd kill him but honestly… She could recognize it in his movement, his cadence and form. The man was a killer like her… Only much more experienced to a terrifying degree.
-Mistral Back Alley-
Jaune whistled at the sight of the tower.
"Wow, that's big… well." Stretching he let his bones pop before making his way towards it.
"Might as well finish this quickly."
Weiss rose a brow.
"How is he so causal about this?" Jinn remained silent but she'd accepted that she'd not hear an answer form the blue giantess. Instead, it was Pyrrha who guessed a most unsettling conclusion.
"Perhaps, perhaps Jaune has dealt with similar incidents."
Entering what was once one of the seedier alley of Mistral all he could now see were Grimm. Beowulves turned to him while Nevermores cawed letting lose a flurry of pinons. With ease Jaune's aura manifested, his barrier tanking the feathers, smiling he broke into a sprint rushing to the crowds of Beowolves's palm glowing.
"Hiya?" With an open hand strike he impacted the Grimm, it's torso exploding, drawing Stormflower he unloaded into the two nearest beast that closed in on him. While once he may have been a novice Ruby would never hear of it and made him practice till he could shoot the wings off a fly.
Said reaper grinned at the idea thinking she might take Jaune to a gun range on their totally not date.
The two wolves before him fell breaking down into a dark mist, hearing the telling caws he leaped back narrowly avoiding several pinons. He looked up seeing the furious Nevermores circling him. Not wasting a beat he pulled out another parting gift from a retiring pal. The Nevermores fired again only for Jaune to draw his trump card a pair of nunchucks that he spun into a makeshift shield repelling the feathers. Ruyi-Bang and Jingu-Bang hung in both his hands as he smiled up to the Grimm, pulling out a vial of pale blue dust he inserted it into the weapons turning them shades of blue and black before leaping up towards the winded Grimm.
"Wait, those are Sun's weapons."
With quick fluid movements he tore into the avian Grimm, his nunchucks forming ice like clubs at its end that tore off slabs of ebony flesh with each impact. Finally, he spun the weapon around his torso and by extension theirs. The two clumps of dissipating meat fell shrinking and vanishing before they could even hit the floor. Landing Jaune looked to the obstruction blocking the exit to the alleyway before looking to the bar left of him.
"Huh? Wonder if their open, something tells me by the end of today I'm gonna want a cold one."
"That was… incredible."
"How did he become so adept with Sun's weapons."
Stepping in he found the place empty though from the blood spatters he could guess the poor souls hadn't made it out okay. Not wanting anymore to do with the bar he made his way the exit finding a strip joint behind it. Blushing from the idea of what had surely been going on in this den of vice Jaune made a move for the exit a bit too fast in his step.
Neo paused considering how her blonde might like a firsthand demonstration of howe flexible she was.
However just before he could grab the doorknob he leaped back narrowly avoiding several Grimm that shattered into existence. No sooner did Crocea Mors pierce the beast's head and the wall behind it at once. Without a moment of hesitation, he pulled out Stormflower unleashing a rain of bullets upon the remaining Grimm. Jaune smiled to the black interlopers willing Crocea back into his hands before he rushed forward impaling one of the alphas to the wall and proceeded to leap above and swung at the next. Again he fired off Stormflower spinning like a top above the beast until it succumb to the lead storm. Without missing a beat he landed Ruyi-Bang and Jingu-Bang already in hand.
Shattering into the world were two very large Beringels. Jaune smiled at the challenge and willed the dust imbued nunchucks in hand. Both attacked at the same moment the Beringel with a pounce and Jaune with an upwards swing of Ruyi-Bang, from its end ice pillars shot up from the ground impaling the gorilla. The beast itself roared before Jaune kicked its face in using the force to jump back narrowly avoiding the second ape hammering fist crashing down where he once stood crushing its brethren.
Yang whistled.
"You were right about VB P-Money, definitely has potential." Said spartan smiled at herself more then glad as well. But she couldn't take all the credit. After all he was using pistols and Stormflower, both aspects she was greatly lacked experience with.
The creature snarled but was cut off when a boot slammed into its face crushing its teeth, it cried as it swung a fist the Arc's way only for him to assume his guard stance and block the blow. Slowly he let the force of each blow gather as the Beringel raged upon him before he exhaled and struck forward the point of impact exploding leaving a gaping hole in its chest.
"Brutality!"
"'Sigh' Nora…" Ruby's eyes sparkled.
"So cool!" Both turned to an excited Ruby who bounced in her seats eyes looked on and sparkling towards Jaune's counterpart.
What else can he do?
The Grimm fell back then leaving the Arc little impressed as he stretched from job well done popping his neck before he made his way out of the venue.
Exiting the building he looked to the tower that had sprouted, it was even bigger up close, a tiny part of him wanted to retreat, gather a team of hunters and go at this by the books.
Weiss nodded.
"A Sound strategy."
Yet as he saw Grimm manifest to life from the miasmic clouds above their source this tower he knew there was no time to waste and proceeded.
"Ugh, that Dolt."
It was as he closed in that he noticed the air chilling and ice beginning to form, his instincts roared as his intuition blared. He stood before the gates to the tower then and with one final breath he entered. Upon entering he found himself in a large, rounded chamber, where outside he felt a chill in here it was freezing. Ice formed all around him, against the walls and even the ceiling.
Yang rubbed her shoulders, feeling colder from just the sight.
However, what drew the eye most was the figure at the opposite side of him. Posted there was a figure bigger than life, a Beowulf larger than a bus with three heads, frozen in ice. The necks were bound by chain, each head collared over the hairless beast.
Blake paled canine Grimm.
"That's … Not a statue is it?" Yang was little better.
"There are Grimm like that!?"
Jaune looked to it a tad amazed, he'd admit, never seen a Beowulf get so big or have that peculiar mutation either. Still, the damn thing was frozen solid, one good hit and it'd shatter if it wasn't already dead.
"Fearless Leader don't raise a flag!"
Deciding to just let it be, maybe snap a pic to show off to the gang he made his way to it before the frozen sculpture abruptly roared pouncing forward at him. Seeing it Jaune leaped left, barely avoiding the attack as its paws crashed down where he'd been spreading a thick sheen of ice where it stood. Jaune blinked surprised, sure he'd heard of some Grimm making blast and even shooting fire but ice? Seriously? The beast turned to him before roaring and a wave of cold shot forward, no heat spewed from its maws only chill as glacier of ice formed and shot towards him.
"Whoa! That things alive, I thought it was frozen solid." Weiss was no better than her partner.
"It must be adapted to the cold, even able to utilize it…"
"I hope Jaune will be okay…"
"Don't worry Pyr-Pyr Jaune-Jaune will put down Old Yeller." Neo smirked nodding, more than ready to see her man do some more bloodshed, even if it was just a Grimm.
With a swing of his blade he shattered the chunk of frozen air the fragments embedding themselves in the wall behind him like bullets. The Grimm leaned down to regard him rage clear in its crimson orbs. Before its maws parted and the words of men leaked forth.
"Leave now mortal if you value your life, this place is forbidden to your ilk." Jaune blinked.
"Holy shit, you talk!"
I thought only The Hound could do that!
Jaune was hardly the only one surprised, not a member of the viewing audience wasn't disturbed and speechless at the action.
"Okay what the fuck!"
"Yang!"
"No! Sorry Weiss But No! How The Fuck Can A Grimm talk!?" Pyrrha tried to reason it to herself.
"Grimm have been known to grow more intelligent with time… Perhaps, given enough even the human tongue becomes possible for them." Ren nodded, it was as good a theory as any. All The while Yang tried to calm.
Shit Shit Shit! First VB Dies, then I nearly beat him to death and now Grimm are fucking talking!
The Grimm huffed ignoring him.
"Temen-ni-gru is no place for mortals, Human are unworthy to step here, leave now weakling."
Weiss's eyes narrowed on the beast, not exactly liking its tone, then again it was a Grimm so what more could she expect.
"Hey now fido, I don't think that's anyway to talk to somebody, I mean sure that's a hell of a trick there you got speaking and all and the whole ice things a nice touch, but you'd still probably come in second to Zwei in a dog show, no hate, just saying." The Beowulf growled.
The members of RWBY though snickered all except Blake who groaned at the hellhound getting any sorta praise.
"For a mere human to make a mockery of me! I will freeze your soul and shatter it with your weak body!"
"Big words coming from a glorified guard dog."
"Yeah, you tell him Fearless Leader! Kick his butt!"
With a roar a blast of ice shot out, only for the knight to leap out of its way where it hit the way he came in from freezing it whole. Jaune turned to the Grimm deciding to dub it Cerberus.
"Kinda on the nose wouldn't you say?"
"What would you call it then Kitkat?" Blake smiled.
"Dead."
Don't underestimate my hate of dogs.
"'Whistle' Kitty gots claws."
"Ugh, Yang your being racist again…"
"Whoa, easy their buddy, tell you what how about we get you some exercise, like a good old walk huh. That's right boy, come on." The Cerberus growled again, it being made a mockery by a human.
"You will regret the day you set foot in here worm! Now Die!" Jaune cracked his neck, supposing it'd been a minute since the last time he'd dealt with such a difficult Grimm. He jumped in place loosening himself as he readied for a good old extermination. Twirling Crocea in his left hand as he waved the ancient Grimm over. With a roar the beast pounced maws open and snapping as he shot at the blonde.
Moving out the way Jaune swung Crocea against his left, his blade tearing into its flank but not managing to break past the pseudo-Icy-exoskeleton.
"That's impressive, if not concerning." Yang shrugged.
"I could take him."
"No duh sis, you light on fire."
"'Tch' damn, that's one hard shell you got there." Quickly pulling out Stormflower he unloaded into the flank succeeding with the penetrating rounds where his blade had failed the bullets cracking and shattering it.
"Ugh!"
"Gods I can just hear craterface telling me I told you so about getting some guns. 'sigh' well, when she's right she's right."
Ruby smiled, see she knew what she was talking about, her getting Jaune to go with her to pick out parts for his guns on his Not-Date with her was for his own good.
Quickly he thrusted Mors forth this time the blade burying deep into the black flesh spewing out miasma as it ran through the meat and muscle scraping against bone. Cerberus yelped in pain jumping back blade still embedded in its flesh. Jaune smiled as he rose his open palm out to it. The mutt roared as Crocea Mors glowed black before tearing through flesh and rushing to his grip, no sooner did he swing letting loose an arc of aura.
The blade of light slammed into him cleaving into his face shattering his left head's armor, before unleashing Starflower's payload into the right. Cerberus barreled forward again but stopped just before the smiling blonde as he rose his open palm, the hand glowing a black hue as the chains bounding it pulled back dragging him away.
"Is it wrong to say Jaune-Jaune's using your semblance better then you do Pyr-Pyr?"
"That's… He's certainly flashier I'll admit…"
"Yeah, that's what I said, better."
"Wh-what is this!?" Unable to advance on the boy it fired off another blast of ice towards the Arc and in response the Hunter swerved left as he closed in. Panicked the Grimm stomped into the floor, making the room shake. No sooner did stalactites begin to fall crashing down towards Jaune who quickly rose his aura tanking the hit only to be struck by a fierce swipe of the Grimm's paw and sent crashing into the wall.
Cerberus didn't waste a moment unleashing another devastating howl and with it a beam of chilled energy that exploded into ice around the blonde leaving only a small glacier where he stood.
"Oh Gods Jaune!"
"Foolish human." As he turned he never noted how the single drop of water formed on the ice's surface and then another until steam begun to raise out of it. With a roar the ice shattered as a blade of light tore forward hitting into the Grimm followed by another and another each slamming into it making its ice armor crack and give to the unyielding force. Finally, Jaune came running a fire in his eyes and a savage smile on his face as he swung unleashing one auric blade after another while in his other hands, he let loose round after round into the giant from Stormflower.
"Whoa, how Fearless Leader do that?" Weiss was the first to figure it out.
"His Duster, he said it was Dust infused." Blake picked up what the Schnee was putting down.
"He must have Fire Dust weaved in it then." Weiss nodded looking back to Jaune as he fought on earning a smirk from Yang.
"Someone staring pretty hard on our VB."
"Wha!? D-don't be ridiculous! Just cause this version of Arc is more appealing like that one from the Machiavellism View-" Abruptly she covered her mouth, hands slapping over it. She looked to Yang who was giving her a wolfish grin.
"Damn pest!" Stomping down pillars of ice rose only to shatter against his barrier and boots as he stomped down on them gaining some air as he leaped meeting its hateful orbs with his determined azure as he swung severing the right most head as it exploded in a mass of black and slick grey fluids as his blade tore into it exploding with aura.
Quickly throwing Crocea Mors backstabbing it in the floor he willed himself to it with polarity narrowly avoiding the jaws of the Grimm. Landing and pulling out his families blade he smiled up to the monster.
"So… still think I'm just some 'weak' human?"
"Enough!" With a roar the Grimm let loose a devastating wave of cold that swallowed everything within and enveloping it in ice. Jaune went wide-eyed at the incoming chill and making his decision he quickly unsheathed Crocea Mors from its larger sheath… The Grimm howled in laughter as the tiny pest was swallowed into the bone chilling mist, it was done.
"No way is VB out from that."
"Yeah, Jaune -Jaune already survived one ice blast, there's no way it would kill him with a second… right?"
Or so it should've been before the icy cloud exploded as a tornado of flame burst to life at its center, standing there in the eye of the storm was Jaune. In his hands were not just Crocea but now Mors, the Sheath having collapsed in on itself transforming into a second blade becoming nearly identical to the family's blade as he duel wielded the two. One spewed scorching flamed while the other vicious razor-sharp winds.
Ruby nearly had a heart attack her with how much skipping beats her heart was having.
That's So Cool!
"Silly Cerberus, that wasn't even our Fearless Leader's Final Form!"
Cerberus stepped back from the boy who resembled less a human and more a god of war as he shot forward propelled by the winds and flames in equal measures.
With a smile he broke into a spin the flames coiling around him and the winds expanding them their heat melting the surrounding ice even the icy armor of the Grimm leaving him bare against the twin blades. With a feral grin he swung both blades down in a X of raging flames and hateful winds that tore into the left's face mincing the head apart.
Cerberus forced his ice forth even as it melted against the righteous fires leaving only a small spear of ice to strike out instead of his intended glacier. With a swing it shattered but the opening was enough as Cerberus brought his paw down on the Arc only for him to cross his blades blocking it's blow.
"How?! No human should be capable of this!"
"You underestimate humanity."
"You tell him Jaune-Jaune!"
'Put down this mutt!'
His form begun to burn white as aura filled him, reinforcing his muscles and strengthening them as he pushed back against the Grimm's paw raising it as his blades began to tear in. He would teach this beast a lesson all humanity learned after he won time and time again during his tournaments, fear the one name Arc.
With a roar he swung tearing apart and cauterizing the foot with a swing. Quickly he threw the second blade in the air before pulling it down with polarity making it mechashift and slam down on Crocea into its Rebellion mode. The heat of his families blade quickly rendered the steel red hot as he swung a flaming Arc tearing into the beast chest spilling black fluid and cooked flesh as it fell back struggling to stand before the boy.
"That was brutal…"
"Y-you aren't human…"
"Maybe not, you're not the first to say so, but I am a huntsman and you're a Grimm, so I think we both know where this is going." Cerberus growled in anger but conceited knowing it was pointless.
"It vexes me to admit it, but you have proven yourself worthy human, go on then and take this false life of mine, but know I am the weakest of our kin. So go forth to your end." Jaune nodded deciding against giving a playful jab at the monster, Grimm or not it was conscious, sentient even. The swing was fast and instant the Arc of aura devastating as it was tolling on his reserves as it severed the head in an instant.
He looked to the quickly dissolving corpse and sighed, half hoping he was kidding about the whole weakest of his kin thing. But if it was true he needed to hurry before anything like him could get out.
The Screen cut off leaving the eight to exchange excited dialogue the opening being the almost synchronized cheer of the peppy ginger and red reapette.
"That. Was. Awesome!"
"It was impressive, especially Jaune…"
"No kidding P-Money, gotta say your training did wonders for VB." Pyrrha shook her head.
"I wish I could say it was that… But Jaune fought in ways I can't… Much less when he used, Ren's techniques or Wukong's weapon. Even that duel wielding and shooting were outside of my expertise." Ren nodded.
"I suppose that means Jaune inquired how to fight from others as well." Yang nodded grinning.
"Well gotta say VB grows up to be one hell of a stud. Who knows, if you're not careful I might just try to still him for myself sis." Teasingly she poked her sister's cheek but Neo simply wouldn't have that.
'Oh, cause you did so well just trying to nab the civilian version of my stud. What make you think this version would even notice you?'
Yang blinked before glaring the petite killer's way.
"Oh yeah! If I wanted to Vomit Boy would be putty in my hands!" Neo rolled her eyes amused.
'Now see if it was your sister who actually managed to score him in a world I'd be scared. But you, 'Heh' and they said you couldn't make jokes.'
Yang stared opened mouthed.
Did, did I just get shit-talked by a mute?
She saw Pyrrha try to hold back a smile only serving to irate her more.
Oh hell no! Yang Xiao-Long is not a laughingstock!
"Still this version of Arc was… 'Ahem' Impressive." Blake nodded.
"He was rather powerful and incredibly efficient; I dare say more so then his Hero Counterpart." Ruby's cheering abruptly ceased as she turned on her teammate with a fierce pout.
"You take that back, All Might Jaune is awesome!"
"Whoa sis, chill I'm sure Blakey didn't mean anything by it." Blake nodded.
"But you do have to admit, this Jaune is certainly more… 'stylish' than that one." Yang shrugged.
"I mean he doesn't turn into a skeleton so that alone gives him some brownie points in my book." Nora pointed the sister's way with a face of pure disbelief.
"Heretics, all Jaune-Jaunes are awesome!"
"I-I know that! I was just trying to explain to Yang why Hero Jaune was awesomer."
"And I was trying to tell sis how this VB was better, hotter too to boot. P-Money, you're Jaunesexual you tell us which of us is right."
"Wait what!?" Yang rolled her eyes.
"'sigh' You heard the Dolts, just settle their little squabble and tell them how much more appealing the Machiavellism Arc was."
"What did Weissy say?"
"Nothing! I said nothing! And anything you think you heard was merely a delusion." Blake cut in then.
"Just answer it Pyrrha so we can settle this."
"Yeah Pyr-Pyr, hurry up and say which Jaune-Jaune is the best!"
'Frankly I think I'd be a better judge of that.'
"And I'm sure I am better judge than the both of you." All looked up then to Jinn who smirked, arms crossed.
"And as it so happens my favorite-"
Besides my own…
"-Is about to show." Gesturing towards the screen it flickered to life with the final View Ruby had forced open.
-Meanwhile in Vale-
Popping into The Club one Hei looked to the figure of what he assumed was a joke step in, the man donning a yellow one piece.
"Can I help you?"
"Hmm? Don't know you got any marks you need off, no no no! Bad Jaunepool, no taking up jobs in other dimensions."
Not after that jockstrap incident.
Hei felt alarms go off as the armed man talked to himself and gestured to his man who were quick to surround the merc with a mouth. Taking notice the man blinked before his eyes and the visors in his mask narrowed, his voice dropping to an unsettlingly serious tone.
"Trust me Junior, you really don't wanna do this…" A shudder ran through him then as the no sooner than the merc had gotten serious did he go wide-eyed and smile beneath his mask a excited squeal leaving him at the sight of them.
"It's you! Yes!" The pair of sisters, Hei's top enforcers stared at the man confused.
"Oh man you two saved me to trouble of finding you!"
"The hell are you on about idiot." Melanie followed her sister's words.
"In case you didn't notice you at a distinct disadvantage. There's only one of you and dozens of us." Jaunepool nodded.
"'sigh' Yeah… Your right, that is a huge disadvantage… For you." Abruptly he appeared behind the pair chopping them both in the back of the head and sending them to lala land.
"Sweet, now we can have PMMB viewing too! Yahoo!"
Jaunepool was so fast in his next act Hei could barely finish his last thought before everything went black and he'd wake up the next day.
Why the hell is he holding a dildo!?
